The dude never ceases to make me laugh. This time it was SpaceJam.com!. Here is an hour long tabla solo by Zakir Hussain. I'm trying to link it to start playing at 50:34. He finishes the thing with an insane flourish. Watch his hands - at one point his right hand is going faster than the framerate of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtRPB8xHP8M&t=3033s

Video owner posts video with illegal/unapproved use of music. 2. Youtube robot searches for music in videos and matches it to approved database. Copyright owner then makes money off use of video. Or, if not in the database, video gets pulled or muted. 3. Can the video owner still make money off ads? CarlosTheDwarf fucked around with this message at 00:23 on Jul 19, 2012 |

Very glad he's doing another show now that he's go NOprah lol. Also for those who didn't know who Zach was before, John Mayer got on board when he was in the voting stage and told him that if he won he'd do the intro music for his show. Zach won, John made good on it. Was awesome except for Oprah did like 6 episodes and aired them all in 2 weeks or something lame like that. Wish him the best and he is truly funny, would watch any of his travel shows. Beach posted:Michelle Jenneke was being all kinds of entertaining before her event in Barcelona. CarlosTheDwarf posted:Anyone know exactly how the music copyright works with these kinds of videos? I believe it's like this: Nope, once the automated system flags a video you upload, you can't monetize it. However, the content owner (usually a music company) can make money by serving ads on your videos. The only way to overturn this is to manually fight the auto-flagged video, which forces the copyright owner to review your video and release the claim or uphold it. The system is pretty drat good, too; we post tons of trailers and stuff and nearly all of them are auto-flagged (not that we'd try to make money off a publisher's content anyway), though there are a few false positives. I usually contest the ones that actually block the video from being shown, however.

While we're on the subject, how exactly do you start making money off YouTube videos? I always thought you had to be a YouTube partner by consistently producing original content before you could get any money, but then I hear about people getting rich by posting one cat video that gets a million views. Is there some certain number of views you need to get to before YouTube just suddenly starts hauling wheelbarrows full of money to your door?

Is there some certain number of views you need to get to before YouTube just suddenly starts hauling wheelbarrows full of money to your door? You used to have to apply to be part of the Partner program, which was vetted on a per-case basis by Google themselves based on the content you uploaded. Now, it's open to anyone that has an attached AdSense account. In theory, you can make money off anything that doesn't have a pre-existing copyright claim (though there's a limit to the number of videos you can monetize at a time, so no flagging hundreds of videos for ads or anything). Obviously in an ideal world, you're only trying to make money off your own content, but if you upload something that hasn't been flagged, you can monetize it if you've gone through the steps. Of course, if you end up becoming a Partner (which is still an approval-based process), you get access to bunch of free promotional tools and whatnot, so it's a smart idea if you plan on releasing your own content on a regular bases (like weekly-ish). All in all, it's a pretty easy road to making money -- at least in theory; until we start doing our own video reviews/previews, we're not gonna make a cent. Or maybe I should just upload a cat video...

I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I'm looking for a video from a fake hair metal band. I've actually been considering doing just that, there's a wasp nest developing in a light fixture by my deck, so I'm thinking about fixing the hose onto the end of a long pole (the light is a good 15' up) and sucking the life right out of the nest. What I can't decide, though, is what to do once I have a shop vac full of angry wasps. If I just leave it on for a while, will I just spin the wasps to death? Alternately, can I put it on reverse and fire it at my enemy like some sort of wasp gun?

For some reason now, whenever I click on this thread it slows Firefox to a crawl and does the same in IE until the page is completely loaded. Happens when I click on the re-score movies thread as well. It just started doing it in the last 2 weeks or so. I know it has something to do with having embedded videos enabled, but that has never slowed anything down for me before. Any ideas?
