Here's an album I just released that is completely free (though there are cassettes available): Some Ember - Hotel of Lost Light http://crashsymbols.bandcamp.com/album/hotel-of-lost-light http://soundcloud.com/some-ember/sets/some-ember-hotel-of-lost-light and a nice little writeup on the Fader explains the music better than I could: The FADER posted:It’s a little bit Lovecraft (From fingertip to dilated eye/ it closes grip on vibrated flesh, Travis sings) and a little bit Fever Ray, propelled by haunted, droning bass. I keep thinking about this lonely guy in a lake, like a 19th century convict rowing through fog, making his great escape from an island prison and sinking halfway to shore. What happens to that guy? What if he had a Moog to play on the way down? VVV thanks het! I will do that. Pale Sickly Trevor fucked around with this message at 00:05 on Apr 26, 2012 |

I couldn't think of a better place to ask this: I have a few playlists organized by mood or music style that are hundreds of songs in size. Is there any easy way to export only the songs in a playlist to another memory device (flash drive, phone, etc.) as opposed to physically going to each folder to figure out which ones I have in the playlist and which songs to leave out? A remix of Huoratron's "Bug Party" is available as a freebie on Wired.com. The article where the track was featured ("Huoratron's Software Would Generate New Remix for Every Download") may be worth a glance as well if you're interested in the remix scene or electronic music in general.

Both of Secret Tombs' albums are available for free here: http://secrettombs.someideas.info/ They're really good. Takes some getting into, but worth a couple listens to feel it out. Also, brilliant rock'n'roll lyrics about curses and stuff. This review of the first album from icoulddietomorrow gives you a little description of what's to come. quote:Behind the lore, Secret Tombs is really just a male-fronted and male-backed three-piece from Braddock and Pittsburgh, PA playing a hybrid of various sounds that resembles Dead Moon meets AC/DC meets the theme song to King Of The Hill meets "Hard To Handle" by the Black Crowes. Seriously. There are seven untitled songs here that are meant to be taken as one, cohesive piece that follows a narrative about some crazy curse. I don't know if I understand it, entirely, but I do know that curses have never been this rockin'! This demo is one of the catchiest things I've heard in awhile, so if you're not a hater of all things "rock" (i.e. a moron, like Colman, for example), then be sure to take the plunge into the, uh, secret tomb of, uh, Secret Tombs. Here is an album I made and put on the internet for free. http://soundcloud.com/night-trap It's mostly bass versions of popular 90's songs, like something you'd hear in a hipster elevator or ravey grocery store. The whole project was inspired by a thread here about The KLF and The Manual, and years of experience as a frustrated dj trying to introduce something new and cool to people who only wanted to hear music they already knew by heart. bad day fucked around with this message at 11:15 on Jun 17, 2012 |

Forums search, for whatever it may be worth, tells me that Kristin Hersh, Throwing Muses, and 50 Foot Wave haven't really been mentioned in NMD recently. I will probably make a thread about them soon, but in the meantime there's free music to be had! Background: Throwing Muses were the first band in the US to be signed by 4AD records (not the Pixies!) back in 1986. Kristin Hersh has struggled and failed to keep the band together and making a living, and in the course of all that plus her solo career she has come to have such a seething hatred for the music industry that she's moved entirely to a free/donate distribution model for all her newer work and collaborations. 50 Foot Wave (sometimes 50FOOTWAVE) is a hard rock power trio consisting of Hersh on vocals and guitar, Muses bassist Bernard Georges, and "drum beast" Rob Ahlers. 50FOOTWAVE posted:Share This Music. Please repost, podcast, burn it for friends, burn it for your enemies, USE it. Thank you in advance for your time, energy and enthusiasm. 50 Foot Wave's latest release in free 320kbps MP3s, FLACs, or Apple Lossless, With Love From The Men's Room. Or listen to it streaming here. 50 Foot Wave's 26 minute epic, Power+Light, streaming or MP3 download. Personally, I think this rocks so drat hard. 50 Foot Wave's entire back catalogue, free FLAC or 320kbps MP3 bundle, download or torrent, or individual 128kbps MP3 tracks. Free Music! I'm glad you get what I'm trying to do. The idea is to blatantly steal other people's songs and make them enjoyable in a different context, in a way where the listener might not immediately recognize the song. I am working on a 2-track ep of KLF songs, then I'm going to do 8 tracks like this of chinese pop music (I live in China, think it could be internet big here) and after that another set of 90's pop tunes. I want to set up my own website and put this all up for free download, like The Weeknd. Also I think it would be cool to have people rap on this stuff. Hardcore/Grindcore/Punk/Powerviolence Iron Lung Mixtape I A mixtape (duh) of mostly (but alot of not) hardcore/powerviolence/punk bands, very well put together and something I'd reccomend to anybody that likes this kind of music. Eustachian - The Sphagnum Bog Violent as H*CK grindcore, all I have to say! Life is poo poo, Take one. Another mixtape, consisting of hardcore/grindcore/trash/punk. Alot more fast paced/violent tracks than the Iron Lung mixtape. 鞠螺千世 - Satan Samurai ·REC Pirate Force 鞠螺千世 - Sketchgrind 鞠螺千世 is sketchgrind, which is exactly what it sounds like. Some of the most light hearted grindcore I've ever heard. Greedy Mouth - Eat//Smoke//Poop Goofy powerviolence, very fun to listen to. Probably my favorite album of those in this post. If you want to grab more stuff like this, I'd recommend exploring the rest of Grindcore Karaoke, enjoy! Mencils fucked around with this message at 18:36 on Oct 10, 2012 |
