It's too bad that the guy who took this picture: Is dead, as he would have made a great contribution to that famous photojournalist with their photo montage. He kinda got super hosed up about it though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Carter I think I see some of that haggardness, the thousand yard stare, in the Tiannamen Square photographer. I wonder how many of these guys lives are shaped by these pictures, for better or for worse.

Protesters at yesterday's opening of Belfast's Marie Stopes clinic, Ireland's first abortion clinic. Good thing the police got a neonazi organization to take over their policing so they can all focus on keeping protesters away from government officials! Somehow despite all the efforts of police everywhere to gently caress up their role, the greek police manage to top them all in disgracing their profession. Cowardly fuckers. Unknown adventurer and historical oddity Josiah Harlan. Spurrned by a lover, he vowed to never return to America and set off across the world. Governed in Punjab, battled slavers in Afghanistan, and earned a princely title, came back to the US due to the British, wrote about how much he hated their imperialist ways, failed repeatedly to establish trade between the US and Afghanistan, tried to fight for the Union, went to San Fransisco to practice medicine, and died mostly forgotten.
