It changes the game because other artists on majors see that good hiphop can be done. His rant on Drake was on point. I think Donald Glover is somewhere crying listening to GKMC. He thinks he's making that kind of hiphop. It's also supposed to do 200k first week, so hopefully it also kills this idea that lyrical rappers can't sell unless they make what amounts to a pop album. You mean an artist can be technically skilled AND rap about something with substance AND maintain artistic integrity AND appeal to a wide audience and sell records? Of course, I'm thinking of "Welcome to Our House" and the like when I write this.

I kinda felt like big ghost was losing his touch for a while, but this latest piece is a return to form. Noz of tumblinerb wrote a diss piece on him, saying he's a poor man's Kid Meero (who is one of the funniest dudes ever, his blog has made my stomach hurt from laughing), but I think he's off the mark on that one. I agree that the homophobia gets a little trying, but calling wale the george castanza of rap? That is some brilliant poo poo.

KID MERO is loving hilarious too, check his review of the new Slaughterhouse album for major lols. If you've never read Big Ghost, check this article. I haven't laughed this hard in years, for real. The Don Glover rumor is from a few months ago, Don Glover had a mixtape or something online and if you moused over it a review from Big Ghost himself would appear. It'd be nuts but it makes it seem like they're related somehow, even if Gambino isn't actually writing the blog/twitter.

Their respective albums from this year are the two must haves, if you dig those Soul's Longterm Mentality and Q's Setbacks are cool but more inconsistent, and the production isn't on the same level as the new stuff. I wonder what Jay Rock is going to put out next. His verse on Money Trees is amazing and Big Ghost's line about being the Tony Yayo of TDE was hilarious.
