Powershift posted:Here you are. Looks like a wee bit of rust behind the rear wheel. Not surprising - that corner is where a leaky radio antenna and a piping hot muffler can create rust instantly. That's one of the very few spots my '79 has rust, but I lost the entire lower bit of the quarter due to a PO just slapping bondo on it rather than fixing the rust, or the leak. That one looks like it just lost the wheel well lip where crud kicked up from the tire collects. I'd check the upper control arm mount area in the front part of the wheel well. It loves to rust out too. Other than that bit of rust, it looks really good.

Timmy Cruise posted:Serious question - how hard would it be to import that to Canada? Been there done that. It's mostly easy. You pay GST and an admin fee (not much) at the border and then you'll pay any provincial taxes when you register the car. Licensing can be a bit problematic if you are planning to drive the car across the border depending what province you are in, your most workable bet is to get the PO to put whatever passes for temp tags in the home state on it. Do not try to bring a car across the border with Canadian plates from another car you own. If whatever state you're buying in doesn't have temp tags, your best bet is just to drive the car through with no plates and the bill of sale and just explain what's going on; that's not CBSA jurisdiction and they almost certainly won't care as long as you pay GST. But being caught at the border with a misplated vehicle can make for a long and exciting day.

1960 Corvair Lakewood model 700 station-wagon. 72,000 original miles. Has not been run in 30 years at least. Engine is not stuck but I've never tried to get it running. Standard-shift (not auto). I'm cleaning some stuff out and am going to scrap it unless someone wants it as project just to tick off Ralph Nader. I got it from an old lady who made a sort-of shrine out of it. Told me her husband bought it for her as a birthday present and then dropped dead of a heart attack a week later. So, she never drove it again and it sat rusting in her yard. That was late 1970s. Has 72,000 miles on OD which is probably true. The old lady is also now deceased and I have no papers for it. http://oneonta.craigslist.org/cto/3411667501.html I don't know how valuable these are, but the price seems reasonable at 550$.

Decidedly not gold: http://www.mercedesmotoring.com/cars/55/ So why am I posting it? Well I found one I'm thinking of buying. It's a 1970 model 250C, 2.8 liter straight six, dual carb, four speed MANUAL transmission. The car is a one-owner with 43,000 documented miles and all it's paperwork including window sticker. Runs and drives tight as new, everything works including the a/c. Been stored indoors under a cover it's whole life. The factory red paint isn't flawless but it's drat good. It's about as flawless as 43 year old paint can be. No bodywork has been done that I can find and it's only got one small dent. No rust. I can get it for $12k. I'm looking for input here. Please tell me how stupid I am. Pictures: Wow, sorry didn't realize the pictures were THAT loving BIG. I think the picture's just flipped. Even if they did make an RHD model, they wouldn't have the speedometer read from right to left, much less position the accelerator under the driver's left foot. Trouser Chili, that Mercedes is amazing.

You Am I posted:It doesn't seem to be listed there anymore, but if it is a 250C, then it's a 2.5 litre, not 2.8. Easy way to tell is whether the motor is a SOHC or DOHC. If SOHC - 250. DOHC is a 280 Well see I thought it would have a 2.5 as well, but wikipedia tells me all w114 250C had a 2.8. Further research on Mercedes forums states that in the US all the 250C as well as the 280C had dual carbs. The 250CE and 280CE had Bosch Jetronic fuel injection, hence the "E" designation. The "C" stands for coupe, and while the W114 250 had a 2.5 liter six, all the coupes had a 2.8, regardless of nomenclature. I guess BMW wasn't the first to go and gently caress that up, huh? Oh yeah, the reason it's not listed there is because they only just got it two days ago. They haven't even gone through it yet or cleaned it.

Ya, displacement doesn't really determine small/big/mid block nomenclature. It's more about physical size and construction than anything else. This definitely puts the series-71 engines in the mega category if one truly exists.

This numeric naming is getting confusing...why would you put an SBC in a 510? If you mean putting a 671 in a 510, do you gut the back of the car and put it hanging out the rear? Rear Admiral BOOYA posted:http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/3402815847.html Just be careful with S12s. They have odd rear suspension so if you wanted to run coilovers then you have to fabricate larger turrets at the rear. Other than that everything mechanical from the S13 and S14 pretty much bolts on. Stick and SR20 in it and jobs jobbed.

My dad just bought this from a friend in colorado for $3500 http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/3398447095.html Apparently the reason for the rediculous hood scoop is that it's a CJ3A with the later motor from a CJ3B swapped in, requiring some clearance. We're trying to figure out what to do about it at this point.

What does everyone think of this deal? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/3393899324.html I've been interested in an old school bag ride and I love the look of it. My only concerns are the scratch along the rocker and unsure of the quality of the air ride work.
