Why is that? Do they wobble a lot because of the design, or just look really odd due to the motion?

The frame rate probably has something to do with it.

The camera's shutter speed is really high, so the action is "frozen" for each frame. There's no motion blur and as a result it looks really trippy.

God those things are hideous. I assumed they looked so bad because they were on a raised Monte Carlo and it just looked wrong as gently caress, but no they really do look that bad on every car they're put on.

I don't see much of car culture in small town Central IL. The only things we have are Route 66 festivals, which tend to be cars that are properly restored and belong in the good thread.

That's a 530d, possibly a 535d. That means somewhere between 230hp and 285hp with over 500nm torque. Unless it's been chipped, which is extremely likely from the look of things. Then it could easily have 300hp or more.

It's not a rocketship, but it's definitely no slouch.

E: Of course it could be a 525d which went from a 2.5L to a 3.0L mid-lifecycle. That puts it at around 195hp, which isn't exactly that fast, considering the lard-rear end nature of the E60.

I'd imagine there would be a lot of torque, but a really narrow powerband.

Doesn't matter honestly, being debadged with all the ridiculous tat, quad exhausts yet being diesel is exactly why I think it's funny. Being a 57 plate it's post-refresh and most likely the slow one. Even so, should a 535d really be wearing quad exhausts and that body kit?

Some people have pointed out that the camera is making it worse but they do look strange when they go by at speed. Something about the face of the blade only reflecting light to you at certain angles makes it look almost like floater rims (where the visible part stays stationary).

There's plenty of torque. They're still rather slow from a standing start, the narrow powerband means that you waste a lot of time changing gears. But for overtaking on the motorway, they're monsters.

There's not much boy-racer street cred in a diesel, I'll give you that. Diesels are not for shouty angry young people. They're for the quiet guys, the ones who let you get ahead and then absolutely flatten you with a groundswell of torque as they overtake.

It may not be so much the Impreza wagon as it is that particular front-end treatment. Subaru has never really had world-beating styling, but the 'Flying Vagina' era was a low point for them.

That much snow isn't all that heavy, to be honest, even if it's the wet, slushy kind. If it's the light, fluffy kind of snow, there probably isn't much damage in the interior; it's just going to be a massive bitch to completely clean out.

If it is the wet stuff, there could be a lot of damage.

This is absolutely correct, I have a 320d, which I believe is not available in the US. I love it - it's reasonably quick with 180bhp, eats up the motorway like there's no tomorrow and sips fuel while doing it. I've had an average of 64mpg UK / 53mpg US out of it over a 200 mile motorway run.

I do miss the low-end power of a petrol, but modern diesels aren't actually that bad.
