I had never seen anyone make sweet love to a banjo like this before.
I'm moving away from home for the first time in two months. Is it too early for me to buy some dishes? I just found an awesome deal on some really nice dishes and I'm wondering if buying them two months out is nuts, or if I'm just imagining that. I could just stash them in my closet in the box until I move so space isn't an issue. But is it generally considered a silly idea to buy stuff like this so soon? Should I wait until I'm actually moved out so that I don't have to move that much more stuff?

The only reason I'm considering buying the dishes right now is because it's an online deal that will expire tomorrow.

Depends on how tight money will be. Moving out for the first time can have a lot of expenses that are hard to plan for. If money is not a concern go for it, if not just hit up a local thrift store. I got a really nice set of dishes for about 20 bucks.

Nothing wrong with buying the stuff early if you can get a good deal. Especially if space isn't going to be an issue. Obviously if you're flying you probably don't want to check dishes, and if you're going long distance make sure it'll all fit in your car/truck.

Moving protip: Use small boxes. Your poo poo doesn't look heavy but it is, and it'll just get heavier as the day goes on. You'll be kicking yourself the third time you go up a flight of stairs with one big box where you could have used 2 or 3 smaller boxes instead.

I'd get them in advance. Plates, cutlery and cookware are the sort of thing you are going to want pretty much as soon as you move in. Unless you're planning to live on pizza for a week.

How much of WWE/WWF isn't fake/staged? I know in reality TV shows they tend to stage the right personalities together and let the rest take it's natural turns. I'm not sure how much of the same is applied to wrestling. I'm pretty curious about how much work is and isn't put behind the scenes.

The storylines and match outcomes are entirely predetermined (outside a couple odd scenarios where a guy didn't do what he was supposed to.) The moves that they do require very real athletic skill but they're worked around to where they're going to hurt as little as possible. They'll script out some of the fight and/or leave some of it for the wrestlers to come up with in the ring, but in the ring the wrestlers will be working together to do whatever the script is (end the match after a certain amount of time, get ready for someone to run out an interfere, which is also scripted.)

So yeah, it's all predetermined.

Edit: Also, there are three groups of wrestling fans. The first group is those that truely believe that everything that happens out there is real. They're usually kids since usually if you're interested in wrestling you figure it out as you grow up. The second group are people who 'know' it is fake but suspend their disbelief and watch it as if everything is real. It's the same way people watch any TV show and suspend their disbelief, just a bit more 'real' since you can actually go down and watch them perform. The third group are people who know it is predetermined and get entertainment from watching it that way and generally paying a lot of attention to the behind the scenes stuff that happens. If I had to guess I'd say the second group is by far the largest.

A very green rookie wrestler named Hulk Hogan toured Japan several times with Andre and witnessed the Giant’s alcohol consumption first hand. Hogan learned to count each thunk, so he could anticipate when Andre was running low.

Wrestling's physical demands are very high, so that is definitely the most real thing about it. Don't underestimate the physical toll these guys take just because it's scripted.

I've also heard that the actions in the matches themselves are fairly loosely scripted and occasionally left entirely to the wrestlers to develop/improvise, usually backstage. Sometimes you can see a wrestler fairly visibly whispering instructions to the other wrestler. There's a YouTube channel dedicated to posting funny videos of wrestlers loving the act up by going off script and such, but I can't find it.

Most of this information is from watching Jeff Gerstmann talk about wrestling, his one true passion.

Reality TV isn't generally scripted, it's just edited beyond recognition to make it look like exciting things are happening when it's actually just a bunch of ordinary people being uninteresting. They do stuff like splicing innocuous comments and reaction shots into a scene in a way that makes it seem like there's a major disagreement or something or make people look worse than they are, because the unedited footage is actually pretty dull almost all the time.

Yup, you can do that (at least, as far as the UK is concerned) - assuming it is not a WMD or restricted item.

Have you asked why they do not ship to the US? It might be that they just don't want to handle the shipping side of things, but if you arrange it, they will be happy to do so.

Most of the time the post office here in St. Louis stamps an ink emblem over the stamp which would presumably limit reuse.

That is called the cancellation, and that's exactly what its intended purpose is. The first adhesive postage stamp was the English Penny Black, which only lasted a year before being replaced by the Penny Red. Reason being, the cancellation mark was hard to see on the Black, so re-use was rampant. I'm surprised that Florida Betty sees so much of that though. Are there multiple cancellation marks on the stamps? Might be worth talking to your mailman about, but there's probably not a lot he can do about it.

Related to this, I've noticed that recently the stamped stuff on the front of my letters (in the UK) has become much more discreet, and there is no discernible mark on the stamps themselves. My mum and my girlfriend reckon that they can reuse the stamps but I am a bit :tinfoil: and am assuming that there is some kind of invisible mark on the stamps.

What is going on? Am I right or are the ladies?

Fork of Unknown Origins

I don't know why they'd go to an invisible mark but the most likely one would be visible under a black light. Get ahold of one and compare a used stamp to a new one.

It seems that they'd have incentive to use a visible mark though.

Could it be that the stamp was never originally used? That the sender attached a stamp to an envelope, decided not to send it for whatever reason, and attached the stamp to a second envelope instead?

Most likely some post offices are getting lazy about properly post marking the stamps. They're fine to be reused if they don't look like they're marked but I guess it's on your conscience to do it properly.

Usually there is a cancellation mark, but sometimes not, or at least it isn't visible. Today I had about 20 letters to open, and one didn't have a cancellation mark (maybe because it had 3 30 year old 15 cent stamps on it instead of a more modern machine-readable stamp?).

I assume the post office just isn't too vigilant about people reusing stamps because few people would go to such an effort. My company works almost exclusively with people over the age of 60 (who are known for their frugality) so maybe this is why.

According to this map a lot of the area around Barstow is federal land owned by the Bureau of Land Management so maybe? But if it's directly behind the outlet mall I'm assuming most if not all the land along I-15 in that area is privately held.

EDIT: Your friend is correct, the Stoddard Valley recreation area is right behind the outlet mall and is public land. They allow camping and OHV use.

To my limited understanding, small clips of shows are allowed but I know youtube takes videos down whenever a big company complains.

The broke in half pelvis I had was the most potentially threatening, but it was my god damned feet that kept me in a wheelchair for 2 months. Feet injuries blow, hope recovery is smooth for you!
