And what better follow-up than All-Star Western #15? Jonah Hex and Amadeus Arkham are taking on Mr. Hyde and Arkham's been force-fed Dr. Jekyll's legendary formula. At first, he lashes out violently at Hyde, but then he runs off to let his id run free.

Mark Waid really wasn't having any of that Doc Ock/Peter bullshit considering all the piss he was taking throughout the issue. Like how he has Stilt Man also use the phrase "The die is cast" too on the next page.

Edit: Also the recap page.

For one thing it's a great way to have the mascot of the company and leader in guest appearances to job to that issue's enemy and require the titular hero to win the day.

I somewhat doubt he had a choice.

I do like that practically the first words out of Daredevil's mouth were "why aren't you making jokes", and Spider-Ock spent the rest of the issue making an effort to be funny.

Has Marvel become really, really good over the past couple of years? The last major storyline I read was Civil War and a lot of the Dark Reign stuff that followed it didn't really interest me (though by that point I'd sort of stopped reading new superhero comics).

They've got some really awful stuff and a bunch of by the numbers books, but there's also been a number of runs by certain writers and artists that have been some of the best comics to come out in years, if not decades.

I'd say your problem is likely that you're reading the big event stories, which are often kinda lame.

It has gotten to the point were I feel that they build the events from the conclusion. What do we want to do next? Okay and how do we get there and lets have our characters act in a way to get there no matter how they have been previous written.

AvX completely killed any interest I had in "big" events. I'll either wait for trades if the opinion is good or just skip them altogether from now on.

Then again I should have learned this lesson with Fear Itself.

At least things happened in AvX. What happened in Fear Itself that was not reversed that month or after a storyline ended? However, wasn't it originally just going to be a Thor storyline that was expanded, and I can not completly hate it due to Journey into Mystery.
