I think they're both operated as separate entities to some extent, but I'm not sure about the specifics.

They were dishonest about it too, just randomly revoking VIP under the guise of payment verification, some of the transactions were years old too. The site tends to up and disappear for days at a time as well, I wouldn't pay money for that. Run spotweb easy and grab a few free newznab providers, don't pay for that would be my advice. Thanks a lot for this. That's some real shady poo poo.

In terms of file hosting if one company gets a takedown notice, it will disappear from both since they use the same host. The purpose of that chart posted earlier with all of the different Usenet providers is to make sure if you subscribe to a backup to make sure its actually a different provider and not just a reseller of the same company.

Okay, so update on GOONZB.. The SSD's and the HBA are in our guy's hands. So we now have all the hardware we need. Our guy works a p. busy job already doing tech stuff, so he's working on this in his freetime, which is a bit limited this week-- but we're literally on the final stretch to getting this server built, configured, and placed in the data center (Our guy lives near the place). My particular brand of fake misogyny humor over in GiP recently got me banned, so I lost my platinum.. I had 100+ PM's, and I did note everyone. We'll get a separate thread going sometime in the future if that's deemed kosher. Just wanted to thank everyone for PM'ing on the project to show interest-- it made that leap of faith that was taken to procure the hardware/hosting a lot less scary. There was a bit of concern that we might wind up outlaying for the thing and find that we had no user base. Our main guy working on all this stuff has really been doing a wonderful job, and I think you all will be very happy with the project as we go from a regular NN+ provider to a more custom setup. Thanks again for the PM's, I'm sorry I lost access to them and can't do the mass replies I had planned. Cheers.

Another week, another file that's "corrupted" and won't extract. The indexing site I use shows 2000+ grabs and not a single comment, so I keep thinking it's just me or something I'm doing. - SAB failes, says 500+ blocks missing (or something close) - Open the PAR files in QuickPAR, everything is misnamed but doesn't need repair - Attempt to extract from the renamed RAR files and it fails with a "file corrupt" message So having multiple providers does nothing to help me in this situation.

I would assume its been DMCA'd. No one comments on anything anymore as far as I can tell so I wouldn't assume its fine.

But how is it DMCAd so that it repairs fine but the file inside the rars won't extract? I thought the usenet providers just removed enough bits of the files on their servers (the rar files).

I don't remember seeing this link in this thread, but this site: http://usenetreviewz.com/nzb-sites/ has a fairly up-to-date listing of the current state of indexers/search engines. The biggest downside to many of these is the lack of a decent community/comments, a problem that may be better solved with the Goon project. Never a bad idea to register with some of the open ones to diversify yo nzbs as the tides of change continue to shift.

With the goonzb project, would it be possible to write some kind of script for sabnzbd that automatically posts back comments or some kind of +/- votes to the scraped nzb posts to confirm whether they repaired and extracted ok or not? Maybe it could even include the provider from the client's server settings so people can see what networks have the completed files if there are any queries over completion? Would be a lot easier than relying on people to go back and manually comment later on, although I can see how it would lead to less of a feeling of community it would at least give a good shot at building a high quality database. Ignore me if thats an impossible/dumb idea, just thinking out loud.

Does anyone have any idea why Chrome is suddenly forcing me to constantly re-enter my credentials whenever I remotely connect to SABnzbd (which is running on my HTPC)? It seems to ask for my username/password on every refresh, and sometimes for every individual page element that it loads. This is only happening from my desktop computer and only with Chrome. I can use it just fine by connecting with Internet Explorer from my desktop, and both Chrome and Safari work without any issue from my laptop and iPad. SABConnect++ also isn't having any trouble, but presumably that's because it's just automatically sending the info whenever it's needed. I haven't been able to turn up any useful information with Google searches and it's starting to drive me crazy.

Decided to check my Sab remotely while on a coach to London for the weekend, for some reason it's decided to do about 200gb of backfill from sickbeard. I'm sure I have a bunch of the stuff it's grabbing, very strange. Setup has been like this for over a year so intriguing its suddenly decided to do this, I'm hoping a hdd hasn't died overnight or something.
