Ord Mantell Episode 2: Doing My Duty

: I really hope that information will help, though the other members are surprisingly lax about this. Guess they-
: Soldier! Soldier!
: Eh?

: Yes, sir. I'm a member of Havoc Squad.
: Glad to hear it. One of my boys dozed off on guard duty last night. Let the fort's stock of medicine get stolen.
: What? The entire stock?
: Yes, ma'am. We don't get that medicine back, some good Republic boys are gonna leave Ord Mantell in body bags.
: Alright, I'll find your medicine, but I'm going to have some words with your CO when I get back.
: Well, it was nice knowing you.
: What was that?
: *cough* Nothing. Anyway, Sleepyhead claims he woke up as the thief was escaping. Only saw the back of her, but she looked like a Cathar. Cathar are an-
: Yes yes, Cathar are cat aliens, now would you hurry this up?
: Sorry, ma'am. Anyway there are some Cathar at the refugee camp nearby, so maybe you could start there?

: It hurts!
: I know, but there's nothing I can do right now. I'm sorry, honey.

: I'm looking for some medicine that was stolen from the fort. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?
: Ah, the sleeping guard must have sent you. Yeah, I saw the guard sleeping at this post - and I took the medicine, too. So when I saw the guard sleeping, I helped myself, but then the separatists took the medicine from me. Now they have it and we don't.
: ...Give me a second to wrap my head around your logic.
: Yeah yeah, while you take your sweet time, I have a deal for you. You agree to bring the supplies to me so I can give them to the refugees, and I'll tell you which way the separatists went. Unless, of course, you'd rather the separatists keep the medicine.
: How about you tell me where they went and I don't have you hauled in for treason.
: Your threats won't work on me. I'm tired of being bullied cause I don't carry a gun. If the war doesn't drive people out of their homes, the soldiers come and extort money out of them. Sometimes, someone's driven out only to be robbed - "taxed," they call it - on the way here. But they won't suffer for lack of medicine. Not if I can help it.
: Fine then. If you won't listen to reason, tell me where the separatists went or the kid gets it.
: What!? You wouldn't dare!
: Try me.
: drat you, fine. The separatists who ambushed me fled to Talloran village. They usually gather at the town center. Have the drat medicine.
: The Republic thanks you ma'am.
]: Just get out of here, you've caused enough trouble.

: Doesn't look like there's too much resistance in there. Bellis shouldn't be too hard to find.

: Hey, this guy had the medicine, and only slightly worse for the wear at that. Now for Bellis.

: Bellis?

: Shame, he's dead. Doesn't look like he has the data on him either.

: It's not my fault that Bellis went and got himself killed.
: Yes, I'm sure the fact that he was standing around suspiciously waiting for you to arrive had nothing to do with him getting shot. However, there is a chance you might be able to find out what Bellis learned. If he followed procedure, he should have left a coded recording of his discovery in his field box, hidden inside his home in Talloran. Remember; if the separatists know that Bellis was a spy, they may already be searching his house or waiting to ambush Republic agents as they come. Stay alert.
: Yes, sir.

: Hello? Knock knock, anybody home?

: Are you insane? You're going to blow my husband's cover! Storming in here, in plain view - what are you thinking? Bellis isn't even here - he left for some kinda meeting. Now get out of here befoer you raise suspicions!
: Sorry to tell you this ma'am, but your husband is dead. Now I need his field box, where is it?
: Oh no, No, no, not Bellis! He can't be dead! No! Bellis risked his life everyday for you, and now you've gone and gotten him killed! My poor, sweet Bellis...
: Your husband died a Republic hero, but we don't have time to mope right now I need that field box!
: Why should I give it to you? You got my husband killed - all of you, you killed him.
: Ma'am I don't have time for this, either give me that box or I'll haul you in for treason myself.
: What? You're serious aren't you?
: I get asked that a lot it seems.
: The field box is over there, just take it. Take it and go. You're a monster.
: Think what you want, ma'am. We all do what we have to.

: Feh, some assassins.

: I hope that's all of it. It, uh, passed through quite a few hands since last night.
: Good work. I'll call the medical bay - get them to pick it up ASAP. You saved a lot of lives today.
: Hope you haven't forgotten about my chat with your CO. I'll see some discipline here if it kills me.
: Um, good luck on that, ma'am.

: I'll take that field box you retrieved, Sergeant. And maybe next time you could bring me back a live Republic Agent instead.
: Bellis knew the risks going into this.
: Hmpf.

: Oh, uh, yes, we found an urgent lead while you were in Talloran, Sergeant. The perfect op for our new assault specialist.
: What's the assignment?
: Here's what happened: This refugee comes into the fort, right? Not that unusual, but this guy says he knows about a separatist bombing - one happening today! All we got was his name, Mirru - cause he was thrown out of the fort before we could get to him.
: I don't think that throwing informants out is standard procedure, Lieutenant.

: I guess Mirru could be lying, but what if he does know about the ZR-51? We can't take that risk. Anyway, we looked into it, and Mirru is staying over in the refugee camp. See if you can find him there.
: Yes sir. Not really what I would consider an assault job.
: While you're gone, Jorgan will decode the information from Bellis' field box. Hopefully we'll find out what the separatists are hiding.
: Now get to the refugee camp and get Mirru's intel, soldier. If this bombing is happening soon, there's no time to waste.

Tython Episode 3: Come for the story; stay for the grammar lesson.

Start Recording:

Before I was rudely interrupted, I was talking about my first visit to the Jedi temple on Tython, I think.

As I made my way up the temple steps, I encountered a fellow student with a message for me.

: Peace on to you, friend, I bear word from the Masters of the temple. Will you take a moment and hear my message?

: "Will you take a moment?" Who speaks like that?

: Many pardons. Basic is not my first tongue. Your present mission is all important, but the masters want to make sure you do not miss what the temple has to offer. When you have time, see Master Muheeda. He will guide you in the other skills of the Jedi.

Jedi Temple

Since the destruction of the original temple during the Sacking of Courscant, the Jedi Temple on Tython has become the spiritual home and sanctuary of the Jedi Order. Housing meditation rooms, lecture theatres and the Jedi Archives, the temples architecture was deliberately changed from the original on Coruscant, in line with the Jedi teachings on non-attachment. The new design is intended to echo the style of Alderaan's famous castles and to evoke the Jedi virtues of humility, serenity and patience.

Construction began a year after the Jedi made a permanent settlement on Tython and took three years to complete using local stone and timber. The temples site, built on the ruins of a much older temple, was chosen by the Jedi Council after a week of fasting and meditation. While the temples formidable technological defences are concealed and integrated into the architecture, it is the presence of the Council and the Jedi who train there who truly ensure its safety from invaders.

As I entered the halls of the Jedi temple, my Holocom began to vibrate, answering it revealed to be a message from a Jedi Master by the name of Satele Shan.

: Padawan--I'm Satele Shan, leader of the Jedi, leader of the Jedi council. I'd like to speak privately with you before we meet with the others.

: Have I done something wrong?

: No, and don't worry, this will be an informal meeting. Come to my meditation room in temple, we'll talk there.

Satele Shan

Grand Master of the Jedi Order, and leader of the Jedi Council, Satele Shan was born on the Core World of Brentaal Four and is descended from legendary Jedi Bastila Shan. Both a gifted warrior and wise teacher, Satele was personally responsible for rediscovering Tython and its hyperspace route. Ever since, she has devoted herself to the Jedi resettlement of Tython and the revitalisation of the Order.

Satele has played a key role in recent galactic history in other ways, as well. She fought on the front lines of several major battles-including the battles of Alderaan and Rhen Varr-and was present as a Padawan during the Imperial retaking of Korriban, the first modern contact between the Sith Empire and the Republic. She is greatly respected by certain members of the Republic military, and her advice is often sought by the Supreme Chancellor. In person, Satele's strength in the Force is matched with a keen intelligence and a subtle sense of humour.

The first thing I noticed upon entering the temple with the ugliest modern art installation I have ever seen. Now I am no art critic, but that thing was ugly. Supposedly, it was some sort of metaphor for the force, but I never got it.

First things first, I paid a visit to Jedi Master Muheeda, who then proceeded to give me a long and boring lecture about the role of the Jedi Knight in the modern order. Fortunately, I was able to skip out halfway through by mentioning my meeting with Jedi Master Shan. I was lucky apparently, According to some of the other Padawans, the man could go on for hours.

Jedi Knight

Jedi Knights are the orders protectors and defenders, Knights charge into the fray with Force Leap, employing unmatched lightsaber prowess and a tactical use of the Force.

Primary Attribute: Strength

Strength increases the damage and critical chances of the Knights Melee and Force powers. This remains so for both the Sentinel and the Guardian Advanced Classes.

Advanced Classes (Available at Level 10): Jedi Sentinel and Jedi Guardian.

Jedi Sentinel (Damage): Jedi Sentinels are highly disciplined masters of Lightsaber Combat. Sentinels fight with two lightsabers and can build force quickly with Zealous strike, unlocking the use of more powerful moves like Slash or Cauterize.

Jedi Guardian (Damage, Defence): Jedi Guardians are stalwart defenders, equipped with a single lightsaber and heavy armour. A Guardian can rend armour with Sundering Strike, protect allies with Guardian Leap, and those specialising in Defence act as lodestars and protectors on the battlefield.

I walked in on Jedi Master Shan to find her meditating.

: Welcome, Padawan. The temple is already buzzing with accounts of your heroism in the training grounds. Master Orgus told me you battled flesh raiders, and a force user, armed with a lightsaber, that must have been a disturbing confrontation, Are you alright?

: I won the fight. What else matters?

: Even the most experienced Jedi can be unbalanced by violence. Taking a life affects the Living Force--and the one who does the killing. This is why Jedi enter the battlefield calmly, with reason, Emotions like fear and anger lead to the dark side.

: Seriously, tell me you're joking. You can't expect me to be reasonable in the heat of battle.

: That's the paradox all Jedi face when they fight. You will find a way. You must. As the Jedi code teaches us, "There is no emotion, there is peace." remember those words when times are darkest. And take this hands over a new shirt , the code is a source of strength, but some backup never hurts. I'll see you soon in the council chambers.

Leaving her to her meditations, I headed for the Council chamber.

Jedi Council

Those who walk the path of the Jedi are guided and overseen by the Jedi High Council. Sworn to defend and protect the Republic, the council has existed in one form or another for millennia. comprised of the wisest Jedi Masters of every era.

After the destruction of the Jedi Temple and the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, the modern council removed itself from the politics of the galactic and settled on Tython, the ancestral home of the Jedi. Led by Master Satele Shan, the council now struggles to uphold its peaceful ideals in the face of the Sith threat. This paradox is reflected in the personalities and beliefs of various members of the Council-some, such as the scholarly Master Syo Bakran, hope the Sith can be redeemed and turned to the light side; others, such as the militaristic Master Jaric Kaden, believe that peace can only be achieved when all those who serve the dark side are destroyed.

: I searched the temple archives, This Force user leading the Flesh Raiders never received Jedi Training.

: Then the Sith have found us. Shouldn't we get ready for them?

: Calm yourself, Padawan. We can't be certain of anything, yet.

: But we've all sensed a growing darkness--perhaps it's finally revealed itself.

: So, what did I miss?

: We're just having a nice end-of-the-world chat.

: Everyone, this Padawan who saved our people in the training grounds.

: This is Master Kiwiks and her extremely vocal Padawan, Kira. The other masters are transmitting from distant worlds.

: It's unfortunate our numbers are scattered.

: Indeed. The temple's safety is unexpectedly threatened. The Flesh Raiders were disorganized primitives before today.

: I think you've been misinformed.

: We clearly underestimated the natives. The man leading the Flesh Raiders probably wasn't acting alone.

: Much of Tython remains unexplored, and we have few resources to spare.

: I'll handle it--with the help of my new Padawan.

: Orgus, you haven't taken a Padawan since Coruscant.

: The Force is strong in her. Stronger than I have seen in decades.

: I can think of no finer master to complete this Padawan's training.

: It will be a privilege. Ooh buddy cop time, I'm the wise cracking youngster with a lot to learn; he is the old school Jedi who won't play by the rules and together they fight crime Sith

: Don't get too excited, you're in for some hard work. You'll find supplies in my chambers downstairs. Go equip yourself. I'll meet you there.

2 Minutes Later in Master Orgus Din's quarters

: Blast those council meetings. I'd die of old age before my colleagues run out of things to say.

: It seems talking is what they are best at.

: Council members earn their seats after many victories and sacrifices. Respect that. This situation has come at you fast. You're braving dangers many Jedi never have to face. I wouldn't blame you for having questions. This may be the only time to ask them.

: I get the feeling you know more about this threat than you're telling me.

: I have... a bad feeling about this. What? Someone had to say it. But that's all. When I know more. I will tell you. Trust me.

: You're leaving me unprepared.

: The Force will guide us both through this--with a little help.

: There's a group of Twi'lek Pilgrims, on Tython. They've been fighting the Flesh Raiders for months. The Republic asked us to deny those Twi'leks aid-- they settled here illegally--but frankly, we need them. I mean seriously how the Republic expects us to maintain our lawns and pick fruit without the illegals. I don't know.

: Please tell me this isn't a diplomatic mission,

: The Twi'leks are in the thick of it. I suspect you'll have to fight your way to them. The Twi'leks have a settlement in the mountains. That's your next stop. Establish a base camp and speak to the Matriarch. Find out everything the Twi'leks know about the flesh raiders.

: Anything you can tell me about the Twi'lek leader?

: Word is she's not our biggest fan. You may have to convince her otherwise. I'll join you soon. May the force be with you.

They were very inelegantly trying to get across that there were enough medical supplies for everyone and the Republic were being dicks by not providing them for the refugees, they didn't come out and say that because I guess they want to portray the Republic as good guys and good guys don't hoard their supplies when they could use their extras to help people?

I'm pretty sure what the alignment points reflect is that you don't know where the separatists took the supplies and the woman who knows will only tell you if you promise to return them to her. You can either agree and keep your word (full lightside for keeping your word), agree but return them to the army anyway (breaking your promise but the light/dark gain evens out), or threaten the kid and then return them to the army (full darkside for getting the supplies back in the most thuggish way).

It is pretty inelegant because it's not clear what you're really gaining or losing the points for exactly, outside of threatening children is bad.

CHAPTER 2: CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN OF CONFLICT

Previously posted:

JOLUNE, a young Padawan, has been summoned to the old Jedi homeworld of TYTHON to complete her training. Her first task was to recover four ancient teaching holograms before they could be destroyed by rampaging FLESH RAIDERS. Three out of the four were safely recovered, but the fourth had already been removed by persons unknown. Now, JOLUNE travels to the Jedi Temple to speak with MASTER YUON PAR about the mystery...

: Wait, there's a landing pad right here? Why did I have to do all that running then?

: Hey, Padawan! You must be the one Master Yuon mentioned, must be!

: Sorry. Babbling.

: Don't worry, I do it all the time. We should start a club!

: Master Yuon said to remind you that she says a Jedi needs to learn martial skill, and said that I should say you should.

: Not really the calm and collected Padawan ideal, are you?

: First week. Just found I was Force sensitive. How crazy is that?

: And they gave you a lightsaber? I've been in the Order for 20 years and still haven't gotten mine.

: Um...Well, you're a Miralukan. You don't have any eyes, right? They probably wanted to be really, really sure about your Force sight before trusting you with a blade that cuts anything.

: That's pretty Space Racist, Hallen.

: I-I'm sorry...Go see Master Wettle in the temple. Doesn't look like much, but he'll show you stuff you wouldn't believe. Good luck- may the force be with you!

: The Jedi Temple... the centre of the Order. Home to the wisest minds, the bravest souls in the galaxy. My whole life has been leading up to this day, this place. What wonders wait within?

: :swoon:A giant dodecahedron!

: :swoon:A floating virtual purple thing!

: :swoon:A library!

: :swoon:A jukebox!

: A... wait, what is this room? Is that a Sith?!

: Yes.

: What are you doing to him?

: Filling his head with happy thoughts.

: Oh!

: ...

: ...

: ...

: Was that a lie?

: Yes.

: Perhaps I should go.

: Perhaps you should.

: Master Yuon's chambers should be down here... ah, here we go...

: :gonk:

: :gonk: :gonk:

: I haven't... Padawan. Come in. this is Qyzen Fess, an old friend. He's here on a hunting expedition; a sacred Trandoshan tradition.

: This thing doesn't look like anybody's friend.

: Padawan! That is enough. That's pretty Space Racist, Jolune.

: I-I'm sorry...

: Is no matter. Have scouting, before light changes. Scorekeeper watch over, Yuon.

: Some people, even some Jedi, disapprove of my friendship with Qyzen. I wanted you to meet, before rumors prejudiced you.

: I was glad to help, Master.

: I've identified the holoprojector that was stolen. It contained a hologram of... Master Rajivari. Rajivari was another of the Jedi founders. He... turned to the dark side and betrayed the very order he helped to create.

: Why would the founders keep Rajivari's image among them, after what he did?

: Excellent question. To honour his previous contributions? Or a gesture of healing? Hmmm. Regardless, Rajivari was extremely powerful, and that stolen hologram could hold his darkest secrets. The thief is likely from Kalikori village. Local Twi'lek Pilgrims, here illegally, many of them poor or hungry.

:Wait- Your first instinct is to blame the immigrants? That's pretty Space Racist, Master.

: I'm old, it's allowed.

: …

: You said Kalikori village isn't a legal settlement. I didn't think Tython had such laws.

: The Republic couldn't give the Twi'leks permission to colonize Tython- too dangerous- but they came regardless. I'd like you to go to Kalikori village, discover who took the holoprojector, and retrieve it. But tread lightly. The Twi'leks are here in defiance of Republic law. We're forbidden to fully defend them, even when the Flesh Raiders attack. Relations are... strained.

: We're Jedi. Aren't we obligated to help those in need?

: This is the Jedi Council's judgement. I might disagree, but the decision is made.

: I think meeting these Pilgrims will be a good lesson for you Padawan. Go carefully.

: Got a fresh robe on, pair of clean boots, ready for a little hiking!

: Huff...huff, hey there spiky rhino cow...

: I think... I'm about... to have a heart attack. Why is this village so...

: You wish to participate in the ceremony, I presume? You understand the dangers?

: I'm sorry. I don't know what you're talking about.

: You've not been told, then. I apologize. Many of your brethren- your “Padawans”- come to Kalikori to perform our rite of passage. Those who endure the ceremony are awarded an audience with Kolovish to receive her wisdom and her gifts.

: Why would the Jedi participate in Pilgrim rituals?

: To prove their strength. To gain rewards. To show friendship. Kolovish lives in the mountains above. Once our leader now, she is our guide and protector. To complete the ceremony, you must walk the thousand steps to her home.

: If you wish, I will ignite the brand. It burns only a short while, but- if you are deserving- it will be enough.

: No, I mean, I'm flattered you're asking me to take part in the whole “thousand steps up a steep mountain covered in Flesh Raiders” ritual, but I'm just looking for a man named Bashenn.

: I have no idea where he is. Kolovish might know though. She knows everyone's comings and goings.

: Sigh... I'm ready to carry the flame.

: Then go, and light each of the signal fires along the mountain path. When you reach the end, you will find Kolovish.

:I feel faint... and glowy for some reason.

: It may be just the oxygen deprivation talking, but I'm taking you down!

This mountain is a bit harder than the previous combat areas, and is the first time a Jedi Consular will encounter Strong enemies (unlike the Jedi Knight, who fights a Strong enemy at the end of their first quest). It is also likely to be the first place either class encounters an Elite boss enemy, in the form of the friendly chap pictured above who waits at the top of the path. Fortunately Jolune learned some extra combat abilities from the teacher that Padawan outside the temple pointed us towards:

1. Force wave, which blasts targets in front of us away, and knocks weak mobs to the ground for a short time. Most useful for knocking enemies off high ledges and watching them fall to their deaths.
2. Telekinetic throw, where we pelt an enemy with rocks for three seconds, doing damage, slowing their movement speed and stunning weak enemies for the duration. Useful, and can be upgraded considerably though acquired skills.

: Finally... here...

: I am Kolovish, first Matriarch and reader of the ancient texts. I led our people to this planet, and I welcome you.

: You're the reason the Pilgrims came to Tython?

: My teachings angered our rulers. They spurned our lifestyle and refused to recognize the authority of the Matriarchs. On Tython, we found we could practice our ways in peace. Even the Flesh Raiders can't destroy our society- not forever. Now that you've completed the ritual, you are a friend to the Pilgrims. You share our burdens and you share our strength.

: I am quite honoured. You seem to have a lot more burdens than strength but, hey! It's the thought that counts, right?

: Take these gifts. We have very little, as you must know- but you are Jedi. You share our world, and you face a difficult future.

: What's your reasoning on that?

: It is the way of Jedi to face darkness. I believe you will face the darkness of our world- and perhaps beyond. Go to your duties, now... and as we part, know that my blessings go with you.

:Speaking of duties... do you know where I can find Beshann?

: Of course. He should be in Kalikori village square, preparing for the Festival of Awakening.

:What.

:Why did you send me up that mountain, when Beshann is standing just over there?

: Because I needed to know that you understood us and our ways, that you weren't just another Jedi tourist here to patronise us.

: ...oh. Well, I...

: Also, I thought you could stand to lose a few pounds.

: …

: Aren't you going to go speak with Beshann? He'll be leaving soon.

: Just as well. We have an uninvited guest.

: I see. Festival of Awakening, Jedi. You're not welcome here.

: I'm assuming it doesn't involve mountain climbing.

: It doesn't and Jedi aren't invited.

: What do you want?

: Someone took a Jedi relic from the Gnarls, a holoprojector. I was hoping you might have seen it.

: A holoprojector. Yeah, I know what you mean. Nalen found one- Nalen Raloch. Maybe you've heard of him.

: Sorry, I've only just arrived on this world.

: Nalen Raloch. Our dueling champion for nine years straight. He once rescued an entire scouting party from Flesh Raiders, single-handed. He planned our defenses. Protects us when we go foraging. Nalen Raloch eats tin and spits nails. Nalen Raloch doesn't sleep, he waits. Nalen Raloch doesn't get frostbite, he bites frost. Nalen Raloch doesn't wear a watch, he decides what time it is. Nalen Raloch counted to infinity- twice. Nalen Raloch...

SOME TIME LATER

: ...another fist. And Nalen Raloch can lead a horse to water and make it drink too. So, no, I'm not telling you where he is. Nalen earns his peace and quiet.

That blue glow and pop-up star indicates we've made a light side decision, by playing the “concerned” card. Alternatively we could have tried bribery (also light side) or threats (dark side).

: Nalen can take care of himself.

: Against Flesh Raiders, sure. But some of that Jedi tech is weird.

: Okay, fine. Nalen went into the Flesh Raiders' territory. He's probably still there, he's been gone a while.

: Then I should look for him. Enjoy your festival.

: I think Nalen's got a camp out there. If you see him, tell him to be back for the feast.

: Flesh Raider territory... seems like the whole planet is Flesh Raider territory.

: This... this does not look like a happy place.

NEXT TIME: A starving orphan child brings a tear to our eye.

Rebuilding the Jedi Order posted:

In the aftermath of the Sacking of Coruscant and the establishment of peace with the Empire, the fate of the Jedi Order was uncertain. With their temple looted and in ruins and relations with the Republic government at a new low, the Jedi left the Republic capital to establish a new temple on the rediscovered world of Tython–the homeworld of the first Jedi. By returning to their ancestral home, the Jedi hoped to reconnect with the beliefs and ideals of those who founded the order twenty millennia ago. They sought to reclaim forgotten knowledge and wisdom left behind by ancient Masters, scouring the planet for holocrons and Jedi artifacts to replace those that had been lost during the destruction of the temple on Coruscant. They began training a new generation of students and began to mend relations with those who blamed the Jedi for the destruction of the war. On Tython, many young Jedi believe they have rediscovered the original purpose of their order: to stand firm against the servants of the dark side. Removed from the machinations and concessions of politicians and bureaucrats, the Jedi have once again become beacons in the eternal struggle between light and dark.

Twi'lek Pilgrims posted:

Tython is home to a small settlement of Twi’lek Pilgrims united by their belief in a humble lifestyle and the authority of their Matriarchs. Although their numbers are few, the Pilgrim movement goes back almost two decades–and until their recent arrival on Tython, they had never possessed a permanent home, nor escaped persecution. The founding Pilgrim Matriarch gained her followers while serving at a refugee settlement catering to escapees from Ryloth–the enslaved Twi’lek homeworld. The refugees listened to the Matriarch’s stories about a set of ancient texts she had discovered on an alien world, which urged simplicity, devotion to family and faith in a spiritual mother. But while some Twi’leks gladly joined the Matriarch, others saw her as a cult leader taking advantage of the desperate. The Pilgrims left the settlement and traveled to one Twi’lek settlement after another, gaining in numbers but always driven off. Fleeing into hyperspace after years of wandering, the Pilgrims at last arrived on Tython. The Jedi, only recently arrived themselves, were astonished that the Pilgrims could stumble upon the secret Jedi homeworld so easily; the Matriarch saw the Pilgrims’ discovery of an inhabitable planet as destiny. Since then, the Pilgrims have done everything possible to make a permanent home of Tython, building their community and creating new traditions. Whether the movement will survive in the face of the Flesh Raider danger is an open question.

Her job's just "hey, class trainer over there," but they took it as a chance to help expand on what life in the Order can be like. The smuggler gets someone pointing their way like that too but I didn't include it since that one's not very interesting.

Probably by eating the same meals as those Jedi who try to keep the boredom at bay through physical pursuits, while keeping the boredom at bay in the library? There have been plenty of pudgy monks in our world.

Though to be honest Jolune isn't really fat, the difference between Male Type 4 and Female Type 4 is huge.

CHAPTER 3: LITTLE ORPHAN CHOMPY

Previously posted:

JOLUNE, a young Padawan, is searching for an ancient hologram that contains the knowledge of MASTER RAJIVARI, a founder of the Jedi Order who fell to the dark side. The hologram was stolen by NALEN RALOCH, a famed Twi'lek warrior. Now, JOLUNE pursues NALEN into the territory of the brutal FLESH RAIDERS...

: Everything's dead for miles around. Who could stand to live out here?

: That cave...I sense...

: ...I sure hope those are primitive attempts at chandeliers.

: That light...

: Hey.

: !!!

: I come to listen. To think, among the dead. To fight for my people. Why have you come?

: Staccato voice patterns... My master sent me, to bring Rajivari's holoprojector back to the temple.

: I'm called Nalen Raloch. The others in the village spin tales of their “legendary protector”. They don't understand.

: Crazy eyes...

: Tython's relics still have lessons. I listen. I can... do things I never imagined possible. I will be the defender my people deserve.

: ”I can do things I never imagined possible”. He's 3-for-3 on the Evil Artifact Mind Control Warning Sign checklist. Let's be diplomatic...

: Jedi condemn what they can't control. But you're not a concern. Only the Flesh Raiders matter, and Rajivari's hologram showed me how to punish them.

: The cave's collapsing!

: The Flesh Raiders will come, but not leave. A merciful death, compared to what my people have suffered.

: Three things! 1: Being crushed to death by falling rocks is not a merciful death! 2: Why would Flesh Raiders come into a collapsing cave?! And 3: We're still in the cave! Have you lost your mind?!

: There are hidden wonders, Jedi, and my journey has just begun.

: I'll take that as a “yes” then.

: Now run. Or die.

: If I have to run anymore today, I probably will die.

: Oh, shiiiiiiiiii....

: ...iiiiiiiiiii...

: ...iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...

: ...iiiiit. The exit!

: A lot of dead Raiders around here; Nalen must have got out ahead of me. Well, better go back and fill Master Yuon in on everything's that happened. I wonder if they'll send a shuttle to pick me up?

(They didn't)

: I want you to meditate on what you learned. Such experiences are what shapes us as Jedi.

: What I learned? Mountain climbing sucks, the Twi'leks have it tough and Yuleph Phan is an rear end in a top hat. Oh, and I found the holoprojector, as you asked.

: We should check that Rajivari's hologram is safe.

: The holoprojector was stolen by a Twi'lek, Nalen Raloch. He'd learned Force techniques from Rajivari's hologram- he was obviously unstable.

: A villager? Very unusual. Then this Nalen is Force sensitive... Let's see what he saw.

: What he saw destroyed his mind... can't we just take an educated guess? I'm betting the phrases “ultimate power”, “great vision” and “true potential” figured in there somewhere.

: Where's your sense of adventure, Padawan?

: I think I left it back in the cave, crushed under a million tons of granite.

: Activation protocol begins. A few words- shall this be all my legacy? No. My enemies are long dead. It is time.

: My word. “True wisdom.” Padawan, he... he's talking about the Fount of Rajivari.

: What is this “Fount of Rajivari”? I'm guessing it's some sort of a Dark Side Doomsday thing, not a water feature he was fond of.

: After Rajivari fell, sources claimed he created a great archive of his knowledge and teachings- The Fount of Rajivari. Generations of Jedi searched for it, finding nothing. The Fount's considered a hoax by all reputable scholars, but... we just heard proof.

: No we didn't, we just heard a 20,000 year old computer program mutter about blades and sanctuaries.

: Good enough for me. Advantage of having tenure is that academic rigor becomes optional.

: Right, well... It said to follow where the first blade points, from the sanctuary of the order. What sanctuary?

: Kaleth! The ruins at Kaleth- the name means “sanctum”. It's the remains of an ancient fortress.

: Why would you name a fortress after a place of peace?

: Our ancestors had a healthy appreciation of irony. The evidence suggests Kaleth was destroyed in a great battle; old droids still walk those ruins today. But this “first blade” is a puzzle.

: If it was once a fortress, it could refer to weapons that were once stored in Kaleth. :eng101:

: We have found several old weapons in one section of Kaleth... nothing like a “first blade”, but a good place to begin.

: I... thank you. You should know, Padawan, that the Council tends to disapprove of such “training” but I'll explain everything to them. For now, focus on Kaleth for this “first blade”. Call me on your holocommunicator if you have any success. Before you go though, you might want to put on some fresh clothes. Those ones you're wearing smell of Raider giblets.

: ... My third set of new clothes in a day... If it wasn't for the pretty scenery, I'd be really sick of this planet.

: These were destroyed recently... other Jedi exploring the ruins? Or Nalen?

: The writing on this tablet is almost illegible... hmm, these symbols... “Weapon Master”?

: !!!

: You seem unbalanced.

: No, I just really wish people would stop sneaking up on me today. Who are you anyway?

: The first blade, I guard. It rests with the ashes of its maker. The Weapon Master.

: I don't know the title. Who was he?

: He saw Jedi as warriors. Not only philosophers. Armed them. Protected them. The first blade. First Jedi weapon. From this beginning, lightsabers came.

: “Rajivari” came. He proved worthy. Permitted to take the hilt. Later, returned it.

: Why would Master Rajivari take the hilt and then bring it back?

: Not my concern. To take the hilt, prove worthy. The philosophy of Jedi combat. Show understanding. The Weapon Master left challenges. Here, in Kaleth. Training droids. To test his students.

: Fight droids, get hilt. Right.

: I guess over there, by all those suspiciously dormant droids, would be a good place to start.

: So what happens if I press this button?

:Aaah! How do these things still have ammunition after 20,000 years?!

SEVERAL JUNKED DROIDS LATER

: Perhaps one day my performance could reach very satisfactory. ...w-wait, that sounds wrong somehow.

: With training, perhaps. Take the hilt. Treat with respect. Fight with honour.

: At last... huh. It has an archaic design but these engravings seem newer... A way to store information maybe? Did Rajivari do this?

: Of course. “The first blade points the way” - Rajivari made the legendary weapon itself our guide. The force is certainly with you, Padawan.

: :smug:

: Please bring the hilt back to the temple at once. I will look into a way to access that data.

A renowned archaeologist and tireless explorer, Jedi Master Yuon Par is one of the order’s most respected scholars. She specializes in the pre-history of the Jedi Order and has recovered several major artifacts, including the surviving Gharnus Texts and a holocron compiled by Odan-Urr. Yuon once taught the history of Jedi philosophy at the temple, but in recent years she has returned to working in the field. Yuon’s search for lost Jedi ruins and artifacts has brought her into contact with dozens of different cultures. She has negotiated with warring Gamorrean clans and was even made blood sister to a Kaleesh chieftain. Some Jedi have expressed concern at Yuon’s rather unorthodox methods and teaching style, but no one questions her devotion to the Jedi Order.

Ruins of Kaleth posted:

Crumbling walls and rubble are all that remain of the fortified city of Kaleth. Carvings at Kaleth suggest the site has been inhabited and abandoned more than once over the millennia–but always by Force users. This has given rise to dozens of theories about Kaleth from scholars at the Jedi Temple, not to mention interest from archaeologists seeking artifacts of the ancient Jedi. Unfortunately, exploration of Kaleth is hampered by ancient hostile droids that still roam the ruins. The presence of these droids, the discovery of surviving computers and reports of strange lights at night prove Kaleth still has sections with functioning power despite being abandoned for centuries. Because of this, some members of the first expedition to Tython recommended restoring Kaleth and making it the new settlement of the Jedi Order. The Jedi Council decided against this, however, preferring to study Kaleth and its history from a distance.

Guid posted:

Guids are hoofed quadrupeds indigenous to Tython. Notable for their muscular forelegs and the distinctive tufts of hair on the shoulders, back and chin, they are typically encountered grazing alone or in small herds. Guids are not particularly aggressive, but if threatened, they are capable of causing injury or even death with their massive forelegs and powerful jaws. Attempts to domesticate guids have proved unsuccessful due to their stubborn and occasionally irritable nature. Jedi Master Silvarte has taken to labeling Padawans with a particularly lumbering lightsaber stance as devotees of the “Form of the Guid.” At least one of these Padawans–since proclaimed a full Jedi Knight–has taken this mild insult to heart, developing several lightsaber techniques inspired by the study and observation of these strange creatures. Master Silvarte considers this a mark of his success as a teacher.

Tython Update 4: No Planet for Old Twi'Leks

Begin Recording

So there I was, sent to talk nice and find out whatever the pilgrims knew about the Flesh Raiders. Due to Master Orgus being too cheap to spring for a speeder, I had to hike all the way up there, and let me tell you it was a long walk.

Still, I suppose all the exercise is what kept me fit.

The village was pretty well built for a shantytown that was thrown together by a bunch of refugee's .Obviously; someone in there had some sort of construction training and knew what they were doing.

SWTOR Codex posted:

Kalikori Village

Named after a Twi'Lek word for "beginning," Kalikori village is a settlement in the Tythonian Hills, founded by a group of Twi'Lek Pilgrims, fleeing persecution. The Pilgrims asked the Republic for permission to settle on Tython but were refused; defying the ruling, the pilgrims founded a small camp that eventually grew into Kalikori village. The villages Matriarch's home is built on the site of the original landing.

Kalikori is technically an illegal settlement, without protection under Republic law. As the village grew, boasting fertile fields and its own irrigation system, the Twi'Lek Pilgrims realized they were expanding into Flesh Raider territory, and have been fighting off the creatures ever since without outside help. Despite the anger of the villagers at the Jedi who have "abandoned" them, many Padawans travel to Kalikori village to seek the Matriarch's blessing or to learn the Pilgrims' teachings.

There appeared to be some sort of party or religious festival going on; Twi'Leks everywhere falling over drunk and running and laughing, but one person did not seem to be having much fun at all. Therefore, I went over and talked to him.

: You're too late, Jedi--like all the other times. The Flesh Raiders already came. They already took their victims. My Father knew these mountains. He helped guide the patrols when he could. But when the Flesh Raiders appeared...he never made it home. He wasn't young, but he deserves better than to be ripped apart. Show compassion, Jedi--find him, and kill any raiders, who stop you,

: Bootstraps! Learn whatever you need to handle this yourself.

: There's that Jedi cruelty. You claim to be good and noble, but you would rather let a man die than expend effort.

: I do enjoy killing Flesh Raiders; I'll think it over.

: Then while you're thinking. I'll listen to the echoes of my father's screams. If you find him--if he's hurt or confused--you'll know him by his golden promise ring. He wouldn't part with it...not until death.

Moving away from the obvious crazy person, I headed for the Matriarch's home. In front of it stood a middle-aged Twi'Lek woman who called me over.

: Come over here, Jedi, and spare a moment for a humble servant of the Matriarch, I promise, your other dealings will wait. My name is Vederiat Ayon. I minister to the bodies and spirits of the villagers... and I have a request. I speak of the Flesh Raiders. Of late, we've seen them growing stronger-- and I know why.

: What are the Flesh Raiders, exactly? Where did they come from?

: No one's sure. They were here when the pilgrims came to Tython. The Flesh Raiders have been experimenting, concocting an elixir that makes them ravenous. The ones who drink it go mad. Their lips froth, and they pounce like starving animals. Its black medicine--primitive and evil.

: By the Force! You mean the Flesh Raiders have... invented Special Brew. How could Flesh Raiders learn to do something like that?

: I have no idea; such wickedness is beyond our comprehension. I'm more of a white wine drinker myself. We lack the numbers to attack the Flesh Raiders directly, and not even the Jedi could wipe the monsters from this world. But with our warriors' help, the Jedi could reach the Flesh Raider caves and destroy their vats of elixir.

: The Jedi could probably do that. The Jedi could probably do many things.

: Must I put it more clearly? Help us destroy the Flesh Raider elixirs. I won't beg. But understand, this is for your people, too.

: I will make sure the elixir is destroyed.

: Odumis Mer knows where the vats are hidden. He is our guard captain. Talk to him to learn their secrets.

I promised I would. First, I decided to call on the Matriarch. The Matriarch's dwelling was nothing fancy, different only in the size of it from the other homes in the village.

Inside the house, stood an older Twi'Lek alongside two younger ones. I immediately pegged the elder as the Matriarch and the two younger Twi'Leks as advisers. Advancing forward I launched into my diplomatic spiel.

: Greetings, Matriarch. Master Orgus Din has sent me to assist you in fighting the Flesh Raiders.

: Nothing to do with the attack on your training grounds, I'm sure.

: We didn't realize how great a threat the Flesh Raiders had become.

: And now you seek help from the people you once ignored. My scouts have tracked the Flesh Raiders for months. Watched them grow in strength. I will share what we have discovered. But only if you agree to protect my people. We... we suffer...

: Mother, you need rest. Let me carry this burden for you.

: The Matriarch appears sick. Does she need a doctor?

: Thank you, but we have our own healers. Besides, we don't trust all that healing power of crystals bullshit you Jedi push.

: This is my daughter, Ranna Tao'Ven. She and Scout Chief Moorint here will speak for me. I must attend to... other matters...

: Personally, I don't care why you've come--as long as you destroy the Flesh Raiders. Ever since they got their new weapons and gear, they hunt us like animals. The enemy has a camp in the valley nearby. My scouts say the Flesh Raiders store their weapons and other tech in a cave.

: I guess I'm willing to check it out.

: They're slaughtering us with their technology. You want our help? Deal with it. We need to strike fear into the Flesh Raiders. Sabotage their weapons. Fix it so they blow up in their ugly faces.... Their technology is standard Republic designs we could overload the power circuits and plasma coils. Here. I'll show you... Sabotage would thin the Flesh Raiders numbers and eliminate their technological advantage.

: If you brought that technology here, we could defend ourselves with those weapons.

: You wouldn't know what to do with weapons like those.

: We've survived persecution before. We can fight but we need better weapons.

: The debate is pointless unless you can get inside that cave. You'll need one of the leader's access keys.

: Find the Flesh Raider technology and do what you think is best. Good luck, Master Jedi.

So there was my mission, to win the allegiance of the Pilgrims by annihilating the Flesh Raiders technology stockpiles. On my way out of the Pilgrim village, I encountered another Pilgrim.

: Hey Jedi want to take part in a sacred ritual? There's a reward in it.

: Loot you say?

5 minutes later

: hand over the loot or I'll shove this training saber where the sun doesn't shine.

: There you go.

: I love this job.

Finally ready to leave the village I stopped and talked to Odumis about the Flesh Raider menace.

Jedi. I think I know what you've been doing. Vederiat sent you to speak with me. She told you about the flesh raider elixir, didn't she? How it makes the Flesh raiders strong? Vederiat's been looking for a way to destroy the elixir--but she's making a terrible mistake. We shouldn't destroy the elixir. We need it! And I'll pay you well if you bring it to me.

: I am not here to bargain with you just tell me where the elixir is.

But I can pay you credits--Republic credits. More than Vederiat will offer. The elixir can make our guardsmen strong. Yes, it may change them, but it will work. We can defend our village and destroy our foes. Imagine--if the elixir can make a Flesh Raider powerful, what would it do for a Pilgrim warrior? Bring it to me and you'll be rewarded. Praised!

: While I am half-tempted, to see how you cope with the clusterfuck that would be giving you people strong booze; the Jedi Council would go rancorshit at me.
I won't help you feed the elixir to the Pilgrims. Besides winners don't do drugs apart from maybe Lance Armstrong

Fine. Obey the orders of an old woman and destroy the elixir... but pilgrim blood is on your hands. The elixir is in the caves beyond our village. I doubt Jedi can even come close to the vats.

So, off I went, out into the heart of Flesh Raider territory in search of their main stockpiles to destroy. It was immediately obvious when I entered Flesh Raider territory, as the lush rolling plains of Tython gave way to what looked like a blasted wasteland.

Tythos Ridge

The primitive Flesh Raiders have turned the once-lush mountains of Tythos Ridge into a horrific camp from which to launch their raids on the other denizens of Tython. The ground is black and barren; the trees and foliage burned away. The air is thick with the stench of death, and piles of bones desecrate ancient Tythonian pillars, mute testament to the countless victims of the Flesh Raider's appetites.

Tythos Ridge was never fully studied during the early stages of Tython's Jedi reoccupation; Master Bestros proposed its use as a meditation retreat, but since then, the increasing numbers of Flesh Raiders has made exploration impossible. It is unclear whether a small Flesh Raider village was the seed for this now-vast settlement, or whether the Flesh Raiders migrated en-masse- but either way, for Jedi Masters seeking to understand these creatures, further reconnaissance of the ridge is a necessity.

As I made my way across the ridge I came across the body of a dead Twi'Lek; its bones picked clean of all flesh. Near the body lay a holopad, with a message on it.

: They've found me. Oh, Matriarch... forgive me... the flesh raiders are here, I can't fight them--the patrol is too far away--I can't... Goodbye, my son. My Matriarch. Goodbye.

Lying beside the body was a small golden ring; I took this to mean that these were the bones of Tazonthes missing father. I gathered up his bones as best I could and resolved to return them to his home. First, I had a mission to complete. I cut my way through the Flesh Raider encampment destroying the supplies of elixir wherever I could find them. Until finally I stood in front of the Flesh Raiders, arms cave.

On, entering the cave I found it packed full of flesh raiders, all heavily armed and dangerous. However, even the might of a well-armed and insane Flesh Raider horde could not stand against me.

At the back of the cave, one flesh raider did cause some minor problems but he was soon dealt with.

Said flesh Raider happened to have a key to the weapons stockpile. Inside was a mish-mash of technological items from all over the galaxy, the vast majority of them being standard republic combat gear.

Tech Cache: [This Cache contains weapons and technology the flesh raiders use to raid and hunt the Twi'Leks.]

: Wish I could see the Flesh Raiders' faces when this stuff blows up on them...

Suddenly a battered old Astromech droid in the corner came to life.

: T7 = Glad to see Jedi // T7= Captured by Flesh Raiders + needs rescuing.

: I didn't come here for you, droid.

: Serving Jedi Order= T7s' primary programming. T7= Jedi Reconnaissance droid// mission parameters= scout wilderness + identify hazards. T7s' restraining bolt = faulty+ malfunctioning// T7s' sensors=unable to detect Flesh Raider ambush.

: Right, the old "restraining bolt excuse". Admit it--you're just incompetent.

: T7= well maintained + always loyal // Restraining bolt unnecessary. T7= Simulated deactivation+ used spy camera // T7= recorded Flesh Raider allies.

Editors Note: Due to Bioware loving up in their subtitles and spoiling a major plot twist, I had to edit some of the following screenshots, clumsily.

A Hooded Figure: Teach our Soldiers how to use these weapons. Train them on the Twi'Lek invaders.

: When will we strike against the invaders?

A Hooded Figure: Patience, Callef. The Jedi will fall when our army reaches full strength.

: T7 prediction= 50% survival chance until next maintenance. T7= Ready to roll!

I knew I had to get this droid back to the village quickly this seemed to explain the whole drat problem with the Flesh Raiders; also it seemed more trouble was coming our way.

I don't get it. The Twi'lek obviously hasn't been to get the hilt, so how can that little holomessage have turned him to the Dark Side? Or are these more than just recorded message holograms?
The holograms are described as "teaching holograms" back in chapter 1, and they respond to what we say to them, so they're a bit more advanced than just prerecorded messages. Yuon's the one who does all the talking with Rajivari's hologram though, so we never really find out what it told Nalen.

Oh, T7. You're the real hero of this game. Seriously, he's on the box and everything.

The guardian gets the best companions. The only one who can compare is the inquisitor with Khem Val.

So am I alone in disliking T7? Maybe it's just I don't like droid companions in general but I never really liked him, I found the second companion the Jedi Guardian gets much more interesting.

So this game looks pretty interesting. Is this free-to-play, or do I have to pay however much money a month? Are there other features I would need to pay for anyways if it is free to play?

It's F2P but with some heavy restrictions (that go mostly away with preferred status for $5). You'd probably get better answers in the general SWTOR thread here though: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3499967

The Old Republic is free to play in the same way that a bed of broken glass is a bed.

Honestly it depends on what you want. IF you just care about the story-lines, go FTP, don't play a cent for it. If you want the mmo, there are much better ones out there to spend your money on.

...is T7 an actual companion? Because that would be kind of hilarious.

Also he's got some guts, playing possum.

Yes, JK's first companion is R2-D2. Though in the movies I like to imagine R2's bleeps are censored profanity. "I'm not hacking ^%^& fast enough? Let's see you haul yourself out of that &^^ garbage and %$#%% do it yourself you @$#@# ^$%^%$!"

Ord Mantell Episode 3: One Bomb, Two Bomb...

: Ugh, let's get this over with.

: You're nothing but thugs in uniform, and your bosses are going to hear about it - your bosses' bosses, all the way on Coruscant, you hear me? You're going down!
: So I'm guessing you're Mirru?
: Yeah!
: We wish to offer our apologies then, sir. This was all just a misunderstanding.
: Look, what do you people want from me? Huh? Because I've had enough of you people for a lifetime.
: You said you had information for us earlier. I came to find out what you know.
: So, now you want the information. Well, y'know, I probably could've helped a few hours ago, before that whole savage beating I got. But now, after all the trauma, I might have just forgot everything I knew about any separatist bombings.
: That's funny, sir, except I wasn't asking.

: Now, if I knew how much the Republic valued my contributions, say with a few credits - my memory would probably be much better.
: Look, I'm not a patient woman. You tell me where the bombs are or you start losing fingers until you do. (Funnily enough no dark side points for that response.)
: Woah! Woah! Hey, let's just calm down a minute here! Okay, I'll help. I saw the separatists hiding a bunch of bombs alongside the road near here. You know, setting up an ambush.
: Thank you, Mirru. Anything else?
: Yeah, I heard them say the bombs are timed to blow when some troop convoy is going past. I don't know when, but it's gotta be soon. So, are done here? Cause I got a lot of work I need to do around the camp today.
: That'll be all for now. Keep those ears open - we need all the intel we can get.

Mirru's VA does a great job of sounding sarcastic here. I'll be providing video in a couple of updates.

: A troop convoy is scheduled to move through the area any minute now, so all you need to do is get those bombs defused ASAP. Double-time it, soldier!
: Moving out, sir!

: Not smart to stand in the open, scum!

: That's One!

: That's Two!

: Hey, buddy! Catch!

 : NOOOOOO- *BOOM*

(It's at this level that the Trooper gets her most sadistic ability, the Sticky grenade. Non-elite enemies will spend several seconds trying to get it off before it detonates on them. Fun times.)

: And that's Three! Ha ha, the seps hardly put up a fight this time. Now to get back to the fort.

: And there goes my good mood.
: I'm very sorry to bother you, sir, but you're the only person I could think to go to. All the other officers I've met here are completely corrupt - all but you, sir. I know I can trust you.
: I don't have time for flattery, Private. Spit it out.
: Sorry, sir. It's my CO, Lieutenant Virk. He's scamming everyone in his command, and nobody does anything about it. He forces all of us to kick up to him ti get safe postings. Credits, weapons, stuff we confiscate from the seps, everything. If you don't play along, Virk assigns you to the most dangerous patrol routes on the island. It's like a death sentence.

: My buddy tried to report him. The next day he disappeared to Talloran, and the day after that, he came back in a box. You're in Havoc Squad, sir - you're important. You could talk to someone who matters.
: I'll see that this corruption gets reported immediately. Good work, Private.
: You - you will? Thank you so much. You are so...wow! Sir, you are amazing.
: I said no flattery. If that's all, you are dismissed.
: Yes, sir! Thanks again, sir!

: Yes, sir, but it was still a dud lead.
: Not for long - I have good news. Lieutenant Jorgan has finished reviewing the intel from Bellis' field box. It's given us a real breakthrough.
: Did Bellis manage to uncover the ZR-57's hiding place?
: He did, Sergeant.
: Bellis discovered that the separatists have the ZR-57 securely inside their supply outpost on Mannett Point, a small island off the coast.
: I sent Sergeant Wraith to reconnoiter the outpost, and she successfully located a secure area where we believe the bomb is stored. Judging by the dramatic increase in the number of guards, and the complex security systems installed, we're certain the bomb is there.
: Honestly, with security like this, Mannett Point looks more like an Imperial military base than a separatist hideout to me. I think the seps are getting a helping hand commander.

: We'll discuss the possibility of any Imperial connections later. Let's focus on the mission at hand.
: Yes sir, then we do we begin the assault?
: I'm getting to that, Sergeant. Wraith can't breach the secured outpost alone, so I'm sending you in immediately.
: ...Just me?
: The smaller the squad, the easier it is to infiltrate. Didn't they teach you this at the Academy?
: Not really, sir.
: Ah, well then. If you do this I could see about commissioning you your official Havoc Squad nickname a bit early.
: ...I'm willing to wait on that, sir.
: Excellent to hear, Sergeant. The Mannett Point Bridge is out of commission, so you'll have to make an amphibious approach to the island. When you arrive, effect entry into the supply outpost and rendezvous with Wraith inside. She'll give you further instructions at that time. Understood?
: Yes, sir. Oh yeah, before I leave I have a report to make.
: Go ahead.
: A Lieutenant name Virk is extorting the men under him.
: Virk? I know the guy. He's a pretty pathetic officer, but nobody's made any official complaints - none that I heard about, anyway.
: Lieutenant Jorgan and I will see to this. You should get moving to Mannett Point. Dismissed.
