Ok guys I was really into fighting games for a while then I got a job and got married and they ended up taking too much time. A bunch of my friends have picked up some of them again, how's SF4 now? Apparently it's way better than the last time I played which was pretty much Vanilla SF4, didn't play much of Super at all. Saw some matches and it at least looks way faster and more interesting now.

Arcsys games more or less dead? There's a lot of Blazblue nobody plays anymore compared to the earlier revisions, and nobody around wants to go back to Guilty Gear which is a shame because I loved that game and want to try out the revision. I played Persona 4 Arena for a bit but that's more because I like Persona than as a serious game.

Ultimate MvC3: Goddamn this game is fun I totally forgot how much I liked it the first MVC3, are they doing a revision? From looking at tourney vids the balance is still a bit poo poo?

DOA5: I don't like DOA games at all I'm not sure why I tried this. Anyway

SFxT: Is it good now? All I remember was glancing at opinions around release and people HATING it but it was supposed to have gotten a bunch of patches.

Skullgirls: Did this ever take off? Simple "Yes" or "Lol" will suffice

Divekick: I kinda want to play this

Kindaish. It sorta died but they ran a kickstarter for some DLC characters and other stuff to attempt a revival and it actually got 600k.

Since you're playing emulated games, dude from the previous page, have you thought about 3S if you really want Street Fighter? It's fast, it looks nice, it has easy inputs and parries are fun. Otherwise, try Bushido Blade, that's a MAN'S game.

This is going to depend on your scene and location etc., but as for me:

MvC3: One of two permanently active games. I hear a lot of people bitch about the game being broken and kind of wonky but everyone has fun with it and it is not going anywhere.

SF4: The other game that isn't going away. This latest version is a lot more balanced than AE was but has the same overall things that are bad about it that it has since vanilla. In all of the versions they released, they never actually changed any of the systems. The game seems faster only because the top tier is a lot more rushdown/vortex characters rather than Sagat and Ryu. Fortunately/unfortunately they are looking to release another balance tweak soon. It will bring fresh interest in again at the risk of ruining the balance completely (or possibly improving it...)

SFxT: It's better than it was, but it's not going to happen. It will probably be forced into EVO again this year and people who regularly place in majors will put in the time required to try to milk some money out of this, but don't bother unless you and your friends inherently just love this game.

Skullgirls: This thread is biased toward Skullgirls, but "lol" is the answer you actually want.

Divekick: Gimmick but the FGC loves hypding dumb poo poo like this and people will probably bring it out sporadically to dick around with.

Divekick is the real deal, if you haven't played the recent builds of that game with six characters and air/ground specials you're missing out. IMO people try too hard to get hype watching it but it's a lot of fun to play and has that easy to learn/hard to master vibe.

Anyone have a recommendation for a stick bag? I'm using a qanba q4 for size reference.

Eightarc just released their own universal stick bag, I haven't been using it for very long but the padding is good, it looks fantastic (subtly branded) and I really like that it has two carrying straps instead of just one like the older Qanba/Madcatz bags. The only possible demerit is that being universal it doesn't fit my Fusion or TE 100% snugly and there's no special cutout around the joystick. In practice I don't think the stick shifts much in the bag so it's probably not a concern if you don't throw it around too much.

The Qanba stick bag fits Q4's and Eightarc Fusion's perfectly as it's made for them. You can find these on Focus Attack for 40 bucks, or you can buy the new Qanba Defender, which looks a little comfier to haul around, but isn't as snug on your stick.

SBO is cancelled this year: http://www.tougeki.com/

Something that wasn't reported on English sites was that Sawatari Masashi, the director of SBO, left Enterbrain (the company that runs SBO) shortly after last year's debacle. Many Japanese players predicted that SBO wouldn't run without him and it looks like they were right.

Dong Dong Never Die is great because IIRC 95% of the characters are shotoclones of some sort and Mario is 100% Akuma from one of the alpha games.
Another good option would be Project Justice for the Dreamcast (not playstation, that version blows), Bloody Roar for Gamecube, Arm Joe (The Les Miserables Fighting Game), Super Dragon Ball Z (this is an actually good game made by real deal FG developers), and most importantly ANY FIGHTING GAME EVER RELEASED ON N64. They are all bad in there own special ways (except for that PAL only game about fighting childrens doodles) but my favorite is Mortal Kombat Trilogy, just for how unbalanced and fun it is.

Was SBO the biggest FG Tourney in Japan? And if so does that mean more of them will now travel to attend EVO, which I assume is the biggest FG Tourney in the world?

Project Justice was a sequel to Rival Schools. there was no playstation version of PJ at all. I would have to second the recommendation for MK trilogy (PSX version though, it has more characters) that was my favorite MK game for a long time, despite it being completely retarded.

Is that why the MK9 demo isn't in the PSN store any more? I was tempted to buy the game a couple times but without a demo I'm just holding off until the Komplete edition gets really cheap.

If you already own the game you can play with the better version now. If not, I wouldnt be surprised if its on Steam Sale for like 3 dollars soon whenever the patch really does come out.
