You should email them back and ask for an estimate on when you'll get the estimate email.

I didn't go to any record stores today but I did have my first almost good find at a thrift store - R.E.M.'s Murmer. If the album wasn't scratched to hell and missing the cover, I might have even bought it.

Well, of course I know him.
He's me.
I picked up Elephant, the Tame Impala EP, Gary Clark Jr. HWUL Vol 2, and I managed to put a copy of Zaireeka on hold at a different store. No one had the Best Coast 7" in stock. If anyone has an extra or wants to sell theirs, I'd be very interested. eBay wants $30 for it :(

Most of the stuff, if not all of the stuff, that's scarce and being sold for ridiculous prices right now will come down in price and be readily available in a couple of weeks.

Except of course the Death Waltz stuff but that's because I want it.

My local record store didn't have much, but I managed to snag a couple neat things. I got the Jimmy Eat World Damage 7", as well as the Deftones Live: Volume 1 - Selections From Adrenaline vinyl. Sadly neither the ATDI nor the BTBAM releases were to be found anywhere. To be fair, my town is mostly made up of hippies and country folk who don't listen to this type of music.

You are absolutely right. I blame poor planning on my part and being overwhelmed by the list versus what they had.

However, it's actually pretty OK. That album was such a great thing, that it apparently produced a lot of solid material outside of what ended up on the record.

I lurk this thread (a ton) and have never posted.. I did participate in RSD for the first time yest tho. Met some cool people in line, made some good friends as well. Which was actually nice. There is a huge lack of hiphop fans in my area though so being that's my fav. goto genre no one knew anything about it really. They had a local rockabilly band and handed out donuts and poo poo which was cool.

This is some of my swag from yest, I have more stuff in some of those bags (my credit card is pretty much melted) everything is getting open and played (because I'm like that).

Same here. Silver Platters in Seattle had about 8 of them left, and I went later in the day. Going to check Easy Street in West Seattle so I might be able to fill out my LP Club punch card. Makes it a bit more justifiable if I can get a free LP out of it.

All I picked up yesterday was Daedelus single that was a RSD release a couple years ago. Sort of "festive", at least.

Anyways, yesterday I nearly became homeless by my own accord. Picked up the Jandek box set, Oval's Systemisch and 94Diskont, Fela Kuti's Sorrow Tears & Blood, Cut Copy's Bright Like Neon Love, and Roky Erickson's "Mine Mine Mind" B/W "Bloody Hammer"... I barely resisted Daniel Johnston's Fun. Anyone pick up the mystery release from Boards of Canada?

That's the one I really wanted too, but they were out by the time I went. I figure I'll wait until next week and hope the flippers' prices have dropped by then.

My store was doing a 15% off everything else sale though and I bought the new Thee Oh Sees album, it's good.

After posting I know I sounded a bit butthurt, but RSD is just a cash grab annoyance. People running it have to know by now it has nothing to do with the medium/artists, but what sells on ebay. The day after the record stores are still empty and I presume the stores attempt to stay in business flipping the held back inventory and what they got left over.

Last year was the Type O box set which is now selling for ~$400 (amazingly I was able to snag one). This year was a bunch of cheaper stuff selling for 2-6X MSRP on day 1. Blind Melon shouldn't be a huge deal with 2500 copies running around plus original press (which admittedly sells for $100+ starting, depending on condition), but it's absolutely insane at $65 average sale price right out of the gate.

I'm still sounding butthurt ain't I? Oh well. Was really looking forward to this rerelease so whatever. Going to be watching and hoping a decent store throws one up online for a reasonable price in the aftermath.

One of the "problems" now I see w/ RSD is that it's not strictly for the independent stores. There is a huge chain here in my area (they have about 5 stores here, and 3 more in the state next door) and they order as much of each release as poss.. I thought this wasn't supposed to get like that. How does a mom&pop store in town compete w/ that.. they order what they normally stock and don't get some/any of what they really want for their 'normal' customers etc. Idk sounds like i'm on a soapbox here too lol

RSD is pretty much only problems. An indie band I really like was on Twitter telling people not to pay more for their record on eBay. I wanted to tell them to release it as a normal release instead of some bullshit limited edition.

I know the guy who put out the Touche Amore/Title Fight split was telling people not to pay ore than $7.99 for it because the non-RSD release would be available for even less soon. I lucked out and a friend in another state found two copies of Until Your Heart Stops even though he didn't get out to the stores until after 5pm

I've heard people say stores were selling things with crazy mark ups, like ATDI around $60. RSD really is a bunch of bullshit. Every pay day should be your own personal record store day.

This is exactly how I feel. There are so many normal releases that I want to buy that spending money on some one-off RSD cut just seems like something to get in the way of that. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy a cool RSD 45 from a band I like, I just don't have the drive to line up for one, let alone pay inflated prices for them.

Yea, as I was leaving the store empty handed yesterday i thought to myself, "You know, the record I came for wasn't even something I wanted until RSD came around, it being limited somehow jumped it ahead of all the other albums I haven't bought yet due to not having unlimited money."

Edited for additional RSD bitching, every year I bitch and every year I lemming my way to the line cause I'm a shameless consumer.

American RSD sounds like a loving nightmare, I live in a smallish city in Australia where the only record shop is a tiny rented stall at the markets.

When I went down there to pick up some things the guy who ran the stall was there, and was putting through all the purchases himself (should clarify that it's just a big warehouse that rents out a small space for people to sell poo poo, they take a small cut of everything sold), and thanking everyone for supporting his business and hanging out and talking to people.

It was actually a pretty cool and surprising experience, I didn't really expect anyone else to be there
