You really need to be able to just turn the lantern on and off without having to put it away every time. I keep getting knocked into the water and dousing the light and having to fight in pitch blackness and it's getting kind of old.

My (european, PS3) copy just arrived and I am not sure about those bonus items mentioned (I own DD and have a save file). Can I import a save into Dark Arisen and then start a new game and still get the unlimited ferry stone and stuff? Or do I have to continue my imported Arisens storypath? I really want to start from scratch in DA... Also I own most of the DLCs, are they integrated into my storage when imported, or do I have to buy them from the mountebank ('cause that would suck)? If anyone can clarify, I would be very grateful!

It looks like I've made it to the final boss room as a big angry voice yelled at me when I walked in but I'm expecting it to take forever so I had to stop for the night. I should probably go back and re-supply but there didn't look to be any shortcut back to the surface from there so it would take ages to run all the way back down and I'm sure all of those rear end in a top hat evil pawns would be back. So I'm gonna try it with what I've got. Plus the vendor guy doesn't even stay in one loving place.

Holy poo poo, the boss monsters in the new content are the biggest HP sponges ever. I spent what must have been more than half an hour trying to kill an elder ogre because my sorcerer pawn got instagibbed by something (probably an executioner) and disappeared before I noticed, and my mage only had ice affinity on her. The stupid thing's HP budged at about a tick of health every 10 seconds. I've gotta be doing something wrong. Not even that room that was full of the three garms, two ogres, and maelstrom pawns took as long as that fight did. On the upside, it's pretty fun seeing how the lower leveled goon pawns I've hired do. One of them managed to do some damage to Death before he floated away, in between falling asleep every few seconds.

Figured I'd go ahead and post this since I've been working on this the past 3 hours, I got some amazing equipment in Bitterblack Isle (decided to take the fall on a few purifications) and got my pawn's new set. Phone image due to being unable to center the camera at all properly. Black hair is the pawn. All except the dragon headband and undershirt "Bliaut" are from the expansion, and right now I'm about to rarefy that robe to top quality, which means after that PunkBoy posted:Okay, can someone explain affinity again when it comes to romance choice again? It's a weird system but the only way to be sure on who you're romancing is to give them the Arisen's Bond, and, to make sure whoever else you've been talking to for the whole game isn't glowing pink or having that little jingle when you talk to them. Affinity goes up with presents and even just talking to them. Draw your weapon in front of them to make them hate you. Lunethex fucked around with this message at 08:20 on Apr 26, 2013 |

Man Bitterblack Isle is everything I've always dreamed of. It's a lot of fun to do it simultaneously with the main quest, too. Do a floor of Bitterblack, come across some sort of massive brick wall, go back out, do story stuff, go back in... Plus I just loving adore all the secret poo poo all over the place. Only problem is it makes me never want to play as a Fighter/Warrior in there, due to lack of movement skills.

Oh man, after struggling to beat Daimon's second form, I finally came back and beat it. Turns out my original strategy of climbing it and using hundred kisses while immolated/fireshrouded was not nearly as effective as drawing the Daimon towards the entrance and using Ricochet Shot I took off like 6 bars of health or so just with Ricochet shot in the time that I took off maybe 2-3 bars with a climbing build (secret augments and all) in just a few minutes. I even stunlocked him during that period of time, where he flinched a shitload of times. Guess I should've relied more on my magick bow than I should have relied on my daggers Ricochet Shot's definitely my MVP skill of the DLC.

Do the augments that effect arrows also apply to the magick archer's projectiles? I tried googling it but all I got were "magick archer sux" posts all over the internet. Also are some of the mage and sorceror augments mandatory for magick archer? I can't tell if I'm doing alot of damage or not

Magick Archer's stat growth is particularly bad, which is why a lot of people don't like it. If you want to have effective damage output, you should level up more as a mage or sorcerer, since they get high Magic Attack levels when you gain a level. I'm not sure if those Augments apply to Magick Archer, the arrow related ones and the magic damage boosting ones. The one that decreases casting time doesn't seem to effect magic bow skills.

The whole Stat Growth thing is weird in DD. I mean technically speaking, you can level as anything and swap around at high levels and still be effective. But if you want to hard-minmax, yeah, then you're looking at it. IMO, none of the hybrid classes have amazing stat growth *overall.* Assassin has the highest attack growth in the game, period, but it's Defense, Magic Defense, Magic, and HP are all crap. It's HP gain is barely better than the Mage(22 per level to the Mage's and Magick Archer's 21.) It does, however, have good Stamina gain. (Keep in mind, though-while the huge Attack boost is nice...Magic weapons, like the Heaven's Keys, work off of both Strength AND Magic and tend to be better overall than plain Strength weapons.) I think Assassin is generally seen as the 'stat class' due to it's big Attack and Stamina boosts overall. I'd say in terms of stat distribution, the 'best' classes are actually the Ranger or Strider. Ranger has a lower HP gain(21), but a pretty solid Attack/Magic gain(4 and 3, respectively), it's defenses aren't that hot(2), but it's MdF is 2 compared to the Assassin's 1. I usually suggest that if you're a type that likes to minmax but still wants to be good at a variety of classes at high level, leveling as a Ranger for awhile isn't a bad idea. Warrior has the best HP gain, but REALLY Lousy Stamina; but coupled with the Ranger's Best stamina and it can give a nice HP boost and have the Ranger's Stam sorta counter-act it. Now Strider has a flat 3/3/3/2 gain(2 in MdF as well), but it gains more HP than the Ranger(25), but has a bit less Stam per level(25 opposed to 30.) Both Ranger and Strider are decent picks, come to think of it. Mystic Knight could stand to use an extra Attack point, but in terms of being 'Tanky' it's a pretty good setup(30 HP, 20 Stam, 2/3/3/3 stats.) Building a Tanky type, splitting between Fighter and Mystic Knight isn't a bad deal by the look(with maybe a lil' Warrior in there for another HP boost.) Of course if you ONLY, say, care about Magic or Attack, defenses or HP be damned, then it's Sorc and Assassin, all the way. Interesting thing on the stat growth: All classes except for Sorcerer and Magick Archer have 11 points that are divided up between their Strength, Magic, Defense, and Magic Defense. Sorc has 13 and MK has 12. (Now, this doesn't take into account the HP.)

Anyone know what's behind the Moonbeam Gem doors? I've found three of the keys. I normally run with my warrior and a fighter or ranger pawn, so if one of those doors has something that suits those classes I want to open that one first. And are the keys in fixed locations like the memory slabs or can they respawn?

There was a good shield in another one, which I think was a Fighter shield, but it might've been a mystic knight shield. I completely forget what I've gotten from the other doors, but I think they were solid armor pieces, like Immortal Armor pieces. The moonbeam gems don't seem to respawn, except the one after beating the last boss, which you can rechallenge. For the Moonbeam gems, there's one in the Lost City. There's a corpse holding it while crouched over. I want to say it's near the cliff face that you can walk to if you hug the right wall. There's one in Warrior's Respite. Above Barroch, there's a semi-hidden room you can climb to from where the bed/notice board are. There's one in the other checkpoint-ish thing, which is lying on the ground near Barroch. There's one in one of the dark sewer/tunnel-ish areas (I forget which one), which can be lit up with the rift crystal lanterns, and later gets populated by Possessed Armor. If you enter the area normally, I believe it's somewhere along the right wall, but that one I just randomly stumbled upon, so I can't remember too well. The other two I've gotten were from beating Daimon.

The pawn situation in Dark Arisen is getting to be a real bummer. You can't rate or gift items to pawns from the original game but it's nearly impossible to find pawns that are from Dark Arisen. I've never seen even one in the rift. Means you're basically never going to have your pawn getting rented out by randos anymore. No more rating terrible pawns, putting actual clothes on all of those little girls running around, or sending dumb gifts to jerks. I guess it's good that RC is slightly more common in the world now but they really should do something about this.
