This is slightly different to what we normally post here, but worth having to hand for the next time a teenager comes in here asking about buying a new/higher-end car that's on the limit of what they can afford. AI-flavoured financial and dating advice all in one.

Speaking of Camaros, do any of you happen to have the video of the guy with the ridiculously quick.. I think it was a first or second gen Camaro that "had enough power to lay rubber from one corner to the next"? - Just googled it, not what I was after. I think it was a black one doing some kind of hill event..?

Anyway, was trying to describe it to my brother in law who has a similar era Ford, just wanted to rub it in his face! :downs:

God, what an idiot. I've seen that video before, but I never noticed him getting black flagged for multiple laps until finally a worker literally jumps on the track and makes him pull in. I hope he got a good banning for that.

The whipping back and forth seems a little intentional. While it was stupid and reckless, I have to give it to him for staying more or less in control of the car the entire time. That's a lot of horsepower to keep in a straight line.

Nor for that matter what engine it has. Hell, a lot of guys don't care what year the car is, nor what engine it has, if my years as a lube monkey are anything to go by. I got stared at more times when asking "is it a 4.0L 6 cylinder or a 5.2L V8?" or "4 cylinder or V6?" than I care to recall, and someone told me their 1995 was definitely a 1998 a few months ago.

It's just the fact that it's turbo car. Turbo cars don't sound like screaming lunatics with knives.

One of my favorite turbo sounds is a 911 Turbo on full attack. It sounds more like a fighter jet than it does a car. Also, if you get the opportunity to stand near a 911 Turbo that is being launched. Do it. Videos do not do it justice. <High revs> <Sound of clutch drop / drive line engagement (yes, you can hear it) > < Tire chirp > < Car is gone before you know it > < wave of heat from the exhaust / turbos > < smiles all around >

Actually he bought a rust prone, unreliable, head gasket munching, understeering highly overrated piece of poo poo that got shown up badly when the first WRX came out. You get up close them, you realise what a dreadful car it actually was.

The real reason why they won everything with it is exactly the same reason why Loeb won everything - sheer cubic resources no one else could match.

I don't care. It's a Lancia, built by batshit insane Italians, and that makes it more awesome than any Subaru will ever be.

Also, Loeb won everything because he's just really loving good at driving, but please, go on pilin' coal on that hate train of yours.

Doesn't anyone still hang about a foot of chain at intervals off the height barriers? Warning signs are all very well, but something rattling across the top of the cab is a fairly effective wakeup call.

Or just set a sacrifical barrier at the exact height of the gap maybe 100' back up the road, and let them wipe that out instead.
