For the Huey, Dslyecxi has an hour or hour and a half long video on his YouTube where he just has a running commentary about it. It's fairly stream of consciousness but it'll probably give you a decent feel and opinion from someone you can trust on the matter.

I've played 3 of "DCS: Huey"'s campaign missions now, and spent several hours doing basic flight practice (Crashing around airports). I absolutely love the UH-1; the Huey is demanding, quirky, and oh so satisfying when you get it right. It's a nice break from having to constantly be rushing to mark targets and fire mavricks and GBUs. Even if you're just delivering supplies or taking some reporters on an escort mission with some attack choppers, the game manages to be rewarding. I'm not sure about it's multiplayer viability, you'd need some real good maps and setups I suspect, because it's not exactly fast or well armored. It's taken me hours of practice to land without dying, and I still land like I'm drunk. Every time I manage to land exactly where I want to without nearly falling into my own rotor wash or swaying wildly is thrilling. It does not flatter you like the A-10, it actively tries to kill you if it realizes you don't know what the hell you're doing. The campaign missions are scripted and fully voiced; I like the co-pilots banter, but the loving Americans keep shooting at me. They knocked out one of my ADF antennas last mission. I suspect in the next few missions, I'm going to have to go out with some rockets and mini-guns, and take care of those sons-of-bitches. Just because my name is Pedro doesn't mean you can shoot at a UN helicopter! I'm not even Mexican! I'm Spanish! If you enjoy fast paced action, DCS Huey is not for you. If you want a low-rider that can fly, you'll like the Huey.

Hueys will probably last about 30s after getting airborne in multiplayer because of labels.

Have control of AAA guns. no SAMs or CAS, just artillery. Blue team has to head to the refugees in Huey's to pick them up. There could be multiple LZ's for the huey's making the red team have to choose between a perimeter, where they think the choppers will head through, or spread out to the LZ's, and not have enough hardware to cover them all at once. There's multiplayer potential, but it's very specialized, and you'd need a really good map maker. It would look a lot different from A-10 multi player maps, and that could be a good thing. It's a shame I have no clue how to make maps, and I hate

Has anyone heard anymore progress on the Rex SimAir release? Their last few 'updates' don't appear to give too much, other than "We're still aive, and releasing soon" I thought they were aiming for a early summer release myself, and I think it could revitalize the interest that might have tapered off in Vatsim etc

I would seriously suggest saving what you'd put into CA for LOMAC. CA is really, REALLY just a gimmicky little thing that you'll regret buying when you find it has barely any depth to it. It's fun for a short period of time and it's a nice way to sit in on a real multiplayer game without just observing if you don't feel like flying, but it really isn't worth more than about $5.

Well I've been arsing about with DCS A10 all night, and I'm starting to understand how things work. Lots of training flights to understand the various systems, although I doubt I'll do the startup from cold sequence again. It was a fun novelty and informative but I doubt I'll use that information again. Definitely going to invest in Track IR next month. I've also been doing stupid things in the editor, such as pitting 15 P51Ds against a single MiG-29S. Hilariously the MiG's AI pilot tries to get into a turnfight with the P51s and eventually gets overwhelmed.

Flight simulator newbie questions: I'm trying to learn how to fly the Airbus X Extended, and as part of the tutorial they set up the route of the flight into the plane's flight computer. I want to adapt this to flights I'm likely to fly, and wanted to try a test flight from Melbourne to Canberra in Australia. I don't know much about flying so am trying to get my head around understanding programming the flight computer with routes I find online. I used a flight simulation route finder and was given this as the route: YMML (0.0nm) -SID-> DOSEL (40.3nm) -Y59-> EBONY (140.2nm) -Y59-> ARRAN (174.8nm) -Y59-> NONUP (215.2nm) -DCT-> YSCB (259.7nm) As far as I can see I need to find the SID to use. I found this chart for Melbourne Airport for flights heading the direction of Canberra: (from http://charts.aero/) I compared this chart to the SID options given in the Airbus' computer, and saw there was MNG1, NONIX1 and DOSEL8 among others. So is it as simple as selecting DOSEL8 for my SID to get me to the start of the route I found online? Also, as far as I can tell based on what I learned in the tutorial, the rest of the data in the route should be entered into the flight computer as airways from DOSEL: VIA - TO Y59 - EBONY Y59 - ARRAN Y59 - NONUP I don't understand what I should be doing for the "-DCT-> YSCB (259.7nm)" section of the route. I know I need to put a STAR in at some point, is DCT where the STAR goes or is that something else I should somehow enter into the airways section? Please try to keep answers as newbie friendly as possible as I've been getting confused pretty easily with all this stuff. Eventually I'll try to get a larger understanding of navigation, but at this stage I'm just hoping to adapt the tutorial flight to my own local region. I appreciate any help you guys can offer.
