Bang Bang Bang
I don't know if its just me but I have a problem figuring out exactly whats going on in chapters like these. Part of it has to do with the images over and over again, and then there's so much blood and muscle that it gets confusing. At one point it looks like Toriko gets a hole blasted through his heart but I guess he regenerates super fast? Toriko and Starjun look so much alike that its hard to distinguish the two when they are in melee combat.

I did laugh at Toriko in his knife armor suit.

Not like he hasn't grown an appendage back. Hell he might be able to do it just by eating food now, with how his cells just divide at crazy rates to get rid of burned skin cells

You have to differentiate between the imagining based on routines and what actually happens. Toriko visualized destroying Starjun's knife at the same time that Starjun visualized cutting off Toriko's leg. Starjun was then surprised when he did not in fact cut off Toriko's leg, but Toriko did destroy his knife.

We don't get a clear shot of Toriko's right leg, and Komatsu gets a look of shock on the last panel. It's possible that both images worked out.

The two outcomes were mutually exclusive. Toriko planned to kick the knife in half, which he would need his leg for. Starjun planned to cut Toriko's leg off, which he would need the knife for. There isn't any way for the two acts to happen simultaneously.

Fairly sure what happened there is that Komatsu aided in the image through his unrestrained trust of Toriko or something along the lines, hence him winning out.

Hmm, could Komatsu have an image of Toriko winning? It wouldn't surprise me if his image was so strong that it interfered with the fight or something.

Can we all just agree that all of this image crap is stupid? Somehow Toriko, the namesake of the drat manga, is having the most boring fight so far. Seriously, some random battery-powered guy who was just introduced in this arc had a more interesting fight with another person who we'd never seen before. The jerks in the background are more interesting. Jirou hasn't even shown up yet and he's already captivated me more than Toriko versus Starju has.

Somehow it just seems like Toriko's getting the short end of the stick here when the people around him have abilities like screaming at your opponent to death, or being a fountain of poison, or having hair that could eat the world, etc. Meanwhile Toriko punches things and his punches are forks... Sometimes they're spoons though.

What?

As soon as this fight finishes, all the imagination stuff will get thrown to the side like every other powerup, to be used in passing as "these monsters can use food honor images!!!" while Komatsu makes a funny face like has happened every other time we've seen a new powerup.

Not that it makes things any more interesting right now, but I doubt we'll see any other fights focusing on imagination battles as much as this one is right now. It was just introduced, so it'll be super important for a fight or two and then things will probably focus on another powerup for a while.

I think we can all agree that we need to go back to fighting monsters with ridiculous capture levels with special guest characters and see the faces all the characters make for eating such delicious food.

This take over the world plotline really petered the story out for me.

I really like some of the brutal imagination pages, but I hope it's toned down a lot or even nearly removed in the future. I love the idea of Toriko seeing a big beast and having an image of him being torn to shreds and saying "wow this guy's strong" but using it as the key mechanic of the fight has made the actual fighting boring.

BLARGH
Just wait for it, its going to be revealed that Toriko is actually still being held up in the air like when Komatsu first arrived and everything that has happened over the last few chapters was Starjyun's Super Imagination or whatever.

I wish they would decide whether Toriko's special attacks are just metaphors for his hand to hand strikes, energy beams, or actual metal being summoned into existence.

None of the above. It's just his loving imagination!

It was revealed that the fork and knife stuff are physical manifestations of his appetite, just like the PacMan that killed the four beast. So he is summoning actual utensils made out of Eatanium.

Oh my god he summons forks and knives out of EAT FOOD

he literally summoned a full set of armor made out of forks because he was so goddamn hungry

Every fight Toriko has been in has been nothing but a battle of wills. Toriko fights by trying to dominate his opponents and force them to submit to his raw hunger.

At this point I wouldn't really believe Toriko had lost a fight until he had literally been broken down at an atomic level. Even then he would probably become a microscopic swarm, eat a bunch of other atoms and come back even buffer.

I'm confused. Is it more power to remain calm and composed in a highly emotional situation like in food honor, or is it better to completely give in to emotions and go into a blind rage? Stupid anime about ridiculously tasty murder beasts, why can't you be consistent?

The most powerful state is instinct, which is why every time poo poo really goes down in a fight they mention how they don't care about morality anymore it's eat or be eaten. The trick of Food Honor is to make it instinct to respect food to the utmost, hence the whole Shaolin Temple aesthetic.

Y'know, I hope Komatsu becomes so good with that knife he can cut someone SO WELL that they're not even dead. Basically I want to the end of the manga to be Komatsu preparing Dark Chef Joa into GOD and that he becomes a good guy and it ends with 5 chapters of everyone just eating.

Didnt this already happen in the Food Honor arc, where people were cutting animals apart so keenly they didnt even know they were dead and eating the meat while the skeletonized animal just watches on

I think he means that Komatsu would literally cut the "evil" out of people.

This last chapter... just... wow. I was surprised that him being amputated was an actual thing. That turnaround sequence at the, "Who's there?". Priceless

That said, Can we go to Gourmet world and eat some beasts?

But that's basically all it is, brutal. There's no reason for me to give a poo poo about Starjun beyond that the manga has told me I should give a poo poo. So all I get out of this is "Oh hey, he punched off his arm".

I was about to say this chapter of Toriko Claymore was pretty good, until I realized that it's preceding exactly the same way the fight in the Regal Mammoth arc did. Toriko gets owned at first, gets a little boost from monster mash, gets a couple hits in but then owned again, then gets more help and executes the graveyard smash, etc.
