I doubt it, she's just partying like every other rich white girl her age. I haven't heard about any drug busts or arrests.

it's a bit of an uncomfortable watch, at first it's funny but somewhere along the line (at around the 2:30 mark) Arin begins to suffer and weep uncontrollably and suddenly the whole thing begins feeling like youre witnessing and actual emotional breakdown.

I know it's meant for comedy, but I think it got a little too 'real' for a second there.

It very very very clearly is. Her desperate marketing of herself as 'wild' is embarrassing in it's levels of desperation. It's not helped by the fact that We Can't Stop is one of the most boring and plodding pop songs I've ever heard. And this is from a guy who loves a ton of pop music.

I have watched we can't stop several times with friends to show them how odd it is. I have seen it mocked on tv shows and the internet. Yet the song is so unmemorable I can't recall how it even goes minutes after watching it. Party in the USA had more staying power.

It's just economic use of your money to find the cheapest and easiest way to make sure your target audience's parents don't like you without actually tarnishing your image. And she already tried the "shocking" hairstyle route.

I actually liked his video. Red Letter Media took a step back from the film itself and looked at it more as a business expense or product; Film Brain dug into the nitty gritty of the movie itself. That shot he posted of the production crew having the football game on TV was really telling.

The second one is a bit better than the first. There's a couple minutes of explanation, but most of it's pretty interesting. I skipped the first ten minutes of the first video and it was fine.

I actually really like the video, but yeah the song is super dull and not memorable. If they kept that same video style gave her some trap beats and let someone like frank ocean write her songs I can see that taking off.

Rantasmo talks about Gayson Bourne.

Something interesting, but there seems to be a thing these days where we're more willing to admit that a lot of esteemed writers were straight up misanthropic assholes. Maybe it's just on my mind because Saving Mr. Banks is coming out and a lot of people are mentioning it about P. L. Travers. Apparently she wasn't terribly fond of other people and generally spent her career bitching about how she wasn't getting the recognition and money she felt she deserved.

Either way, I think Rantasmo's best point in here is the difference between the "psycho homo" trope and a character pushed over the edge by the pressures of living in the closet.

I'm surprised that the guy who talked passionately about how a series of movies should be consistent in tone, not rely on incredibly stupid plot contrivance, have good scene blocking and pacing, and at all costs avoid excessive, lovely-looking CGI, liked the first Wolverine movie.

Really good, conscise episode once again! I was actually thinking about recording my episode on The Talented Mr Ripley soon, because it was on the shelf, but I think I might be looking at something else next episode instead. In my last episode, on Blue Velvet, I mentioned the difference between "evil gay characters" (as in their homosexuality is added to make them seem more..creepy), and characters who are evil/horrible, and just happen to be LGBT, but Rantasmo raises another point - characters whose morally awful nature is almost understandable, due to the awful situation in which they find themselves in. I'd say the character who's the most like this currently would be Thomas on Downton Abbey, who definitely has his fair share of nasty, jerkish moments, but has been systemically marginalised and will never be accepted for what he is.

And yeah, that swimsuit really is something else.

On the other hand, his dice video is somehow even more boring than his last video. I can't imagine many people want to hear a guy talk about dice for over an hour, or even twenty minutes. I guess he ran out of tabletop stories. :(

Actually, most of my gamer friends were blown away by the dice towers when I showed them.

And I agree with you on the Dark Tower game; that looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

In, that case you can defiantly say that the first was more memorable with how awful it was, if that makes any sense. The second one was just really forgettable.

The workprint copy is missing a lot of effects, so you see partially finished animatics and maquettes, actors wearing mocap markers, wires, crew, equipment, the final colour grade isn't finished, and so on and so forth. So you're watching a movie that's already dumb enough in a hilarious way, then all of a sudden an actor turns into a foam replacement, or there's obvious wires, or there's no sound effects, or it cut to some completely untextured CGI animatic where all the trees are just grey triangles.

It's just an extra level of absurd hilarity.

The first time I saw the movie (on TV) I coulda sworn they were using the workprint. I mean, no way in hell would the effects be that bad, right? I mean, Wolverine's claws look so shittily rotoscoped. loving Roger Rabbit looked better than that more than a decade ago, and they were going for intentionally cartoony!
Nope, it was the full version.
