It's got like a thousand pound (steel? some heavy metal) plate lining the bottom of the car purely to make it heavier and more stable/bottom heavy so rich idiots don't crash it as much, you could totally make a hell of a racecar out of one but what class would you even run it in?

As a design exercise it's amazing, but it's rolling sculpture more than a race car. I thought so as well at one point, but while it's ridiculous from so many angles.... it's clearly genuinely great. It's not meant to be a race car anyway, it IS a rolling sculpture, a ridiculous engineering exercise that makes no sense in so many ways bit for all of that it works insanely well, being not just a thing with huge numbers but a car that arguably is without peer. The thing that got me won over was seeing a journalist pulling this stupidly huge and stupidly fast AWD drift with all four burning that almost no EVO or Subaru could do without crashing - only something that is incredibly well engineered and controlled could do it. The other great thing about the Veyron is Etorre Bugatti would have more than approved. He would love it because the Veyron is exactly like how is cars were.

Don't get me wrong, I love the car and think it's one of the greatest ever built. It's just that whenever it's invariably dusted by a purpose built car, people have a reaction like Goliath just took a rock to the face. It's not invincible, and that Juke R absolutely should have wrecked it. Just like the UGR TT Lambo poo poo on the Juke R. Also..... NEW ROADKILL

Editor of Hot Rod magazine, obviously pulls in some coin, and every episode, he's shade-tree mechanic fixing something he paid way too little money for. I love it. This is what hot rods are about : you, right there, can do whatever you want, as long as you know what you're doing and realize that you've got to really fix your roadside repair as soon as that opportunity presents itself. That kid at the end was awesome.

It's actually genius because the average reader of Hot Rod isn't a rich dude with a corporate budget. His Super Bee is probably more in line with his funding and ability, but even that has street cred since it was his first car and he's had it ever since. Hot Rod is an amazing publication. It's the only magazine I buy regularly, as is Hot Rod Deluxe. Car Craft just started one called Elapsed Times focusing on nostalgia drag racing that's also exceptional, but really, that's all that remains of a dying industry.

I dont think you average internet posting wrencher could afford that engine build and tool set but they didnt sit there and list parts. They showed some engine porn and said that they built it and talked about their hard work and its what makes Roadkill really unique. That engine seemed to make a lot of power for the setup so there's some $$$$ in it, but they don't talk about it and the net result is a fantastic web series.

Yeah, he's definitely not a millionaire, but I'm sure he's fairly comfortable. He could sell his Super Bee and afford it if he really wanted one. Plus he owns the Crusher Camaro, too. That's probably $75,000-100,000 in cars right there. Let's not forget that they live in Cali, though, being a New Yorker I know what it's like to make decent money in a high cost of living state. I'd be rich as gently caress if I lived in Wyoming. That's why no one stays in New York when they retire. I'm taking my retirement and moving ASAP to someplace that reflects my bank statement a bit better, haha.

I'd have to guess the pressure drop due to the Venturi effect causes the temperature to also drop. Positive pressure on the intake side increases this as the pressure differential is even greater. Kind of like how a can of compressed gas gets really cold when you let it out.

It happens in FI, too; however, it happens way way way way closer to the combustion chamber versus a carb.
