Every time I try to level an alt these days, I have to wonder again why they don't just offers a pure gems -> level 80 option. Please let me throw money at you even more, anet.

Dodging is reserved strictly for poo poo that would one-shot me and kiting is for elementalists. Also: Shalebridge Cradle posted:More accurately you do dungeons by running past large groups of trash and pulling single strong monsters out of groups to fight them individually around corners. Just so you don't get the wrong idea, Shale isn't totally exaggerating. In any half decent dungeon group you'll likely skip most of the trash mobs in a dungeon, not because they're hard but because they aren't especially fun to fight and skipping past trash happens to be super fast and easy. Also the single pulling happens, but I can only think of one instance off the top of my head and that's one of the dungeon paths in Sorrow's Embrace there are three golems who are usually single pulled because they can be pretty hard to fight at the same time if you don't have a lot of projectile reflection. Fighting in dungeons isn't a whole lot different than fighting outside of dungeons, there are usually just a few more gimmicks thrown into some of the fights. check out my Youtube fucked around with this message at 04:32 on Nov 16, 2013 |

Guardian tip: if you find your party clearing a dungeon way faster than God intended, equip a hammer and ruin your fellow elementalist's efforts at keeping the party capped at 25 might with constant light fields. Bonus points for using Banish to knock an enemy back for no practical reason.

I'm level 54 now on my engineer and was wondering what the best PVE dungeon build would be. I feel like the class has 30 skills and three good ones that require me to click more than an EverQuest bard.

So I've been just sitting in whatever exotics I got when I hit 80 and haven't really decided to go for anything armor skin wise... I previewed some stuff tonight and I think I found a potential outfit. I present to you: the slutineer: You'll note that she comes with maximum skin to display her whiteness in stark contrast to the abyss dyes and achieves optimal underbewbage. (that's full armor. gloves, back, shoulder are hidden)

I would seriously and unapologetically drop money to instantly level up a dude. I thought Guild Wars 1 was neat in that you could get to max level really fast and have the rest of the world to play in. I wish GW2 had stuck with that formula because there's little variation in play from Level 30 to 80.

I'd argue that the experience is actually significantly better if you craft a character to 80, then go around and see any part of the world you'd like. You're unrestricted by level caps, you're free to roam around and go where events take you, you don't have to worry about keeping your gear up to date and you have the full range of builds and gameplay available to your character. For those who want a traditional RPG experience, going through zones in a linear fashion and doing your personal story quest at 80 is virtually unchanged from doing it while leveling, in fact it's better because you don't have to grind between each step, you just have to go there. I really can't think of a single downside if they made it so you hit level 80 in your second zone - in fact they could even improve the world by making more of it relevant and challenging at max level. hampig fucked around with this message at 11:42 on Nov 16, 2013 |

Yeah but farming the same 5 champions for 80 levels isn't exactly compelling gameplay though. In fact the queensdale champ train is symptomatic of the bad things about having 80 levels, in a game where the levels are basically irrelevant.

Though an transparent system may mean less flexibility when it comes to making iterative changes because they’d need to be announced ahead of time. They're not mistakes as they could in fact be true under different circumstances. They are merely the least true of a set of possible states, and require unannounced iterative changes to improve their trueness. New things (Ascended armor?) will use the existing ascended materials. Hopefully they find a use for bloodstone. Devon Carver posted:
