Well I mean the guy explicitly says he was just trying to mimic the original art style and also apologizes for causing a hubbub on twitter because it got reposted without a source and people thought it was Isayama BUT I'm sure it's all actually a highly calculated ruse and it's Isayama himself, posting porn of his characters on a pixiv account because

You do know there are people who are able to replicate other artist's art styles almost perfectly, right? That's how animations are made.

Considering he's not a fan of cheesecake style fanservice, you don't have to worry.

Remember that magazine cover with Mikasa (with...some character from Sankarea, I think) from ages ago? That was Isayama's response to the magazine asking for a "fanservicey" image of Mikasa for the cover.

The art is disturbingly spot on, certainly, and since it's done like sex scenes are usually done on non-porn series it's no wonder it managed to fool plenty of people on twitter.

By the way, don't you guys think Isayama is managing his license too... loosely? The anime, toys and videogames are just natural, but between the Pizza Hut thing, the Sasha potato chips, the horse racing thing, and the amount of spinoffs (spoof on titan, the school parody one, Levi's spinoff, Before the Fall...) I think he wasn't really prepared to have his very first series turn into the second best selling manga in Japan.

If we're thinking of the same thing then sadly enough there probably are people fr whom Mikasa's sixpack are fanservice. I'm just happy that for once there's a female heroine in anime/manga that the author isn't trying to make "cute" in any way shape or form. Mikasa is a badass, is ripped as all hell and is still popular.

Man I love these, the art style especially. It's got that chibi thing going on that I normally hate but the artist still puts so much effort into the art that it feels more like a carefully done caricature than just laziness which is what chibi usually seems like to me. Also i gotta ask, since these are being posted like once a week are they just gradually translating one big collection of them or is the artist seriously just cranking out a bunch of 4koma on a weekly basis?

Well, she's definitely not dressed as you'd expect: gym/workout clothes and padded gloves. Compare the Sankarea girl who is in a bikini top (and nothing else for....some reason :psyduck:), and Mikasa stands out in comparison.

But yes, Mikasa is a relief in terms of heroine. Granted, the ones topping her (in terms of manga sales) are Nami and Nico Robin, who while being very feminine, still manage to hold their own and not come off as completely weak. Which is more than I can say for other shounen heroines, but that is a debate for other places.

My only fantasy for SnK is that Eren and Mikasa become dynamic characters. I'm not so shallow that I need sex to enjoy a story (unrelated: they aren't even underage), I just find the style quite convincingly accurate. Clean, uniform animation cels created by key animators (who actually have intelligible styles even when they try to draw everything alike) and manga are two different things, especially when the manga style is as rough and sketch-heavy as Isayama's.

I'm not trying to make something out of nothing. I've simply never seen a fan artist recreate a mangaka's style so flawlessly down to the paneling, calligraphy of the SFX, shading, strokes, etc.

It is underage because you can't make pornographic material of someone who is not an adult (ie 18 or 19) you loving creeps. Age of consent and the age where you can legally star in pornographic materials are completely different things. What is it about anime that makes people lose their loving minds like this? (ie the derail for the last few pages)

Sorry to continue the derail, but I don't get how copying the art style "so perfectly" is any indicator that the porn would be from the guy. I mean, the success of your illustrated porn usually largely hangs on how accurate the art is. (Also, one last aside, apparently a live action AoT porno is being produced and it's probably going to be hilarious [Kotaku has an article on it if you want])
Also, underage is determined at the national or state level, not internationally. Also they are fictional characters. Not that I'm advocating anything or anything.

To get us back on a more SFW rail, here's some AoT art I found by Googling just that:

I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been an AoT game out yet. Or at least none I have heard of. There's that Unity game at least. If you're new to the thread, you should try this out: http://fenglee.com/game/aog/

One thing I didn't quite get in chapter 51 was how cutting the napes of the necks of Titans effectively decapitates them, cutting off their regenerative abilities; you'd think blowing their heads (and brains) off would do the same, but their heads still regenerate.

It's shown that being a Titan allows you to regenerate your extremities as a human. You probably have to hit Eren in a very specific place--not necessarily the nape--in his human form to kill him permanently.

Since blowing their heads off doesn't guarantee a kill (sometimes it does), maybe the "true" weak point is lower on the human's body, like their spine or sacrum.

They have to cut out the entire chunk of flesh in that very specific spot on the neck. If any of it is left, the Titan will get back up eventually. Cannons are not accurate enough to reliably take out the weakpoint of a Titan that is running right at you, especially when Titans come in all shapes and sizes and aberrant Titans exist.

Roland Jones

Given that the regenerative organ of the titans seems to be (what used to be) the human in its nape, and that's also where its brain-equivalent would be, a titan living through losing its head is to be expected, really. There's nothing in the head that it needs to function.

Nelson Mandingo

I'm guessing that it's the brain itself that needs to be damaged in order to kill a titan-shifter. Bert got his jugular and heart slashed and regenerated out of that, and Ymir's "insides were scrambled".

``...an explosion in the engine room ... would have destroyed a lesser ship''
So, here's some speculation that came to mind when watching the anime - what if Eren's 'newly discovered' power isn't for controlling Titans, but anything? It seems like it was more him telling her to fight than the situation that made Mikasa suddenly become a killing machine, and even has this repeated 'lightning effect'/'eye dilation' thing whenever he gives someone a command - the anime even goes further with some kind of biological... image effect thing.

In the anime, she reacts as we see Titan pilots do, but here we just get the impression this is down to whatever Dr. Jaeger has been up to

They (and Ymir) knew what happened, because as Titan-Shifters they got the command Eren (or his emotions) sent, but then because they're not mindless drones like regular Titans they could resist his command. I don't think it's clear whether or not Eren's power works on abnormal Titans, though.
