You don't get to be 1200 years old without trying a little bit of everything. The only question in my mind is: which Doctor was it?

So, according to the Daily Star the 'ghost' of a 'huge favourite' appears to Eleven in the TARDIS just before he regenerates.

So it's probably River, but it might also be Amy. I'm kinda hoping for Idris, but that's pretty unlikely considering that she didn't crop up in one of Moff's episodes.

Hmm...who would possibly appear between the 12th and Final incarnation of the Doctor...

It's not meant to air until August. That's going to be a lot of downtime.

Not as much as you might think. While US television shows will often knock out a 40-minute episode in five or six days, it's a lot longer for British productions, due to union crew rules and the like. A thirteen-episode run of Doctor Who can take as long as nine / ten months or so to shoot (which is why none of the cast members stick around for more than a few years -- it severely crimps their ability to take on other work). When Series 8 starts airing, they'll still be filming the last few episodes.

They're not so bad, I just wish they'd have used them a bit more sparingly during Matt's tenure. I think they're doing this so that we're surrounded by "familiar" faces while they introduce the new Doctor, though, which seems like they're trying to lean on their current success a little rather than shake things up.

Apparently the shorter filming time is because they are doubling down on directors a lot more so that blocks of two episodes can be filmed together with less prep time.

The word is it's going to be a 12-episode run, possibly counting the Christmas special and having that as the series finale. Some people say this is because Who is produced/sold abroad in 14-episode blocks (13 episodes per series and a Christmas special) and that the 2013 specials took a spot each, but I'm not sure if that holds water.

I mean, it sucks, but at least 12 episodes is basically a full run instead of the crazy, split-season/just specials this year kind of stuff that's been the norm lately.
