I've gotta say in general I enjoy this show (as does my fiancee). It tickles my ex-central PA heritage, but whoever suggested the weird dreamy editing for character reactions the past few episodes really ought to be canned. It is doing absolutely nothing for me except ripping me out of the show. I know what it is going for, but it falls so flat in a show that is inherently a bit cheese by nature. Also never enough Hoon Lee (give that guy a spin off)

That opening scene was loving cold. poo poo is escalating quite nicely. Poor Max getting his weak asthma genes from his drunk dad. All they needed to do was have Deva give someone a beat down to really drive the comparison home. I guess telling off her dad counts. edit: I wonder if Nola really is done. drat, that was a good episode. As already mentioned the cold open was great and we got to see Emmett go balls out for once. I loved the bit in the bar when Hood was just kinda laid back pensively chillin and basically made up his mind right there to take down Proctor while as Job put it "another psychopath already after you". And any time Job and Sugar get to do their little verbal dance is gold. Who's the goon that works on the show? It think it would be cool if they post something about their work on each week's episode. Pretty sure others would find it interesting!

This last episode had a lot of weird jump cuts. The show has always done that, where Hood will be walking and then it'll jump-cut and he'll be like ten or so steps further along or whatever, but they did it all over the place and it was a little excessive. I still love the show, mind you.

Yeah, they've really been relying on that style lately. I like it for the most part, but I think someone noticed how awesome it looked in a previous episode in relation to the emotions in that scene, and is running the risk of overdoing it now in every episode following. It has the most impact when it's uncommon, when we're not used to seeing it and so it has a more visceral effect. I sure hope they tone it down for a little while, then bring it back for truly gripping scenes, because it's a great technique when used wisely. And yeah, someone needs to buy the sound effects team a beer, because the opener was just brutal. I didn't know what was going on with the noise, except for being grossed out, and then they showed the meat grinder and it was just like... noooo. I didn't like you, Little Hood, but you didn't deserve that.

And any time Job and Sugar get to do their little verbal dance is gold. That's me! Sorry I haven't been active in here, there's no real reason why other than Banshee comes on late and like most other people in this industry that means I'm already drunk... anyways here's some random musings: Anyone feel free to ask me about something, I worked every day this season. I really really liked this last episode, I even watched it twice. I was most curious to see how ep 5 played out because we all knew shooting it, that the tone was so different and they aimed for this dreamy feel to it and I worried it was too different for the show... and it was different but it occurred to me it works as a bit of a palette cleanser before the meat of the story (Proctor vs Hood) starts tumbling. Two points people said a while ago: Yes, I do believe the show keeps up the pace of monster of the week, it's just that they don't all necessarily die/leave during just that one episode. I still think they kicked themselves in the butt for killing the Albino... and now turn to Chayton to be that awesome physical bad guy. Also I disagree completely that it was out of character for Proctor to go full psycho on Jason. During season 1 he got into a huge fist fight with the sheriff because he slept with her and that was before she lived with him (amplifying his.... protective... nature) and he probably would have killed someone who did that, had it not been the sheriff of the town. Matt Rauch (Burton) is by FAR the most talkative person on set. Too funny. While I'm watching an episode I can think of dozens of stories and little tidbits, but I am kind of blank. If anyone wants to ask me about a certain scene or whatever I'll expand on it. Two side stories about this last episode: during the scene where they are interviewing the strippers, we actually shot a few different interviews with a few different girls and I suppose it was supposed to cut between a few of them, but that girl "Platinumm" she adlibbed the gently caress out of that scene and Matt Servito (Brock) is also big on improv and it was the funniest stuff I've heard in a while. IIRC the script was basically just like a boring "I'm platinum I dont know nothin' " type of deal. But after one take the entire crew couldnt keept it together and we did take after take each funnier than the last. It's a shame they kept it as short as they did, there were still several hilarious beats on tape for that. Another side story is a bit off topic, but I find it funny (sorry if this is awkwardly worded I kind of told this story before to a friend on facebook and am copy pasting it): During the downtime while we are setting up for the big explosion on Proctor's factory hear my name said out loud from the directors tent (video village). I was like "who is saying my name?" So I pop my head in. And there were two people (a normal looking dude and and a super super good looking girl) playing 3ds, I'm like... is someone calling for me? I had just gotten a 3ds and left it in my bag for that stuff (get a bunch with big extra days) they were saying they street passed me I was like cool. I started talking about games with them then the guy walked away on his phone and the girl was insanely knowledgeable, we started talking about animal crossing which is whatever I'm not obsessive about that game but then we started talking about shooters and she said cs 1.6 was her favorite and I'm like "whoa this girl is a legit gamer' hell maybe more than I am" talked about some other games, Mobas, Zelda, I told her about a props guy who considered himself a pro CoD player but he played on console and she laughed (and at this I'm basically in love lol) Then talking about like real games and it came up I play fighters and she said she played dive kick at a pax and I was like whoa cool (plus super amazed how hot she was) and she entered a doa4 tournament once, but mostly stuck to a cs 1.6 team, but was trying to get into Dota 2. We talked about some indie games and how it was cool that they are really making a splash. Then the guy came back we talked about games we liked and kinda movies coming out and stuff he was cool, seemed busy with something on his phone though (and later saw him with google glass!?), he talked about traveling to Poland where I've been too and idk random stuff I didn't talk with him as much, but he chimed in occasionally about how the 3ds had some of the most original and best games coming out, dive kick was awesome, a brief talk about graphics vs gameplay. We're getting close to shooting so I step away to not get set on fire by the explosion, and lose track of them. I just got back to my hotel, checked my street pass, looked at their info which had a twitter account. Those two people turned out to be Cliffy B and his wife, ha! It's weird ive worked with famous people before but this is what makes me starstruck.

Our director for that block (unlike most shows we shoot in a 'block' of two episodes at the same time instead of one at a time) is a good friend of his. I think what I gathered is that director worked on Firefly and Cliffy met him through some convention or something like that. Absolutely not sure that's how they met, but being friends with the director was why they were there. (That explosion was HUGE! We had a lot of guests come check it out.) Strike Back is still a hilariously entertaining show though. Also my wife routinely falls asleep watching Cinemax shows like Banshee (not because they're boring but she winds down with TV) so I'll regularly walk in on her snoozing with just the stupidest porn imaginable blaring on the screen. Thanks Cinemax.
