Allen Wren posted:That sucks so bad. I kept telling myself to listen to his solo stuff after TDB imploded, still never got around to it. It's pretty good, more psychedelic and jam-based than TDB. I was really looking forwards to seeing him at Roadburn, TDB was amazing live and the guy had a knack for improvising solos. He also did the excellent solo on Watain's "Waters Of Ain". In happier news, check out this Cvlt Nation tribute-album to Black Sabbath, featuring Bongripper, Graves At Sea, and others. Spooky Iommi feedback and some delayed whispers of "children of the grave". Yeah it's class. Apart from I Shall Die Here, it's the first doom thing I've listened to in ages. I actually hadn't heard the track that Bongripper covered because I've only ever heard the UK pressing of Master of Reality.

big scary monsters posted:Ah right, I was likewise surprised by there being a song I didn't recognise having only heard the UK album version. Some great stuff, Bongripper and Graves At Sea in particular. I feel like Black Sabbath has a tendency to name their outros like that. They did the same thing with the outro to War Pigs (Luke's Wall).

Feel like I read an Iommi interview years ago that they used those intro/outro titles (Luke's Wall, Jack the Stripper, Death Mask) just to pad out the tracklists.

Can anyone recommend a band like this, or something similar? This is from a few pages back and I got some good suggestions, but I found a band that completely scratches this itch for me: Year of No Light Pretty much exactly what I wanted. No vocals on this album, but their older stuff does which is also very good.

My new jams are streaming on CVLT Nation: https://soundcloud.com/cvltnation/sets/pornography-hex-b-w-golden It's not so much doom in my eyes, but some people see it that way so who am I to argue. It's heavy and slow enough that one of you might enjoy it. It also isn't overly heavy or slow as it is mean and noisy. The second song in particular uses repetition to abuse the listener, which we all can appreciate.

I've been listening to a load of Corrupted, Dystopia, Noothgrush, EHG, Grief, Iron Monkey and Buzzoven lately. Anyone got other recs in this vein? Must be really dirty-sounding and hate-filled. Bonus points if it sounds a bit crusty too.

Think they've been recommended in this thread before, but I've been listening to Sea Bastard a lot the last few months. Monarch do the kind of sound you want for longer and with more drones but see if you can find their s/t album because it's way better than what's on bandcamp. Also definitely check out Negative Reaction if you like Corrupted, they're a bit hard to find online but here's something on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efKYpzGUO_4 Also thanks for reminding me just how much Noothgrush loving own. One of my favourite bands that I don't listen to nearly enough these days.
