I would kill myself before ever voluntarily buying the Blitzball song for Curtain Call. Blitzball Day 3: 60 games in, 4 to go. I can see the light at the end of this godforsaken tunnel, but the pain will never fade. Also, oh my god, Brother is loving godlike

I'm proud of myself for accidentally figuring this out in FFX. If you give someone Guard, and then give them Evade and Counter, you basically make your entire party immune to physical attacks. Wakka has Guard and E&C on a Capture weapon, so he blocks everything, counters back, and can get a capture. Since it's Wakka he hits pretty hard and can hit most enemies. Rikku has Deathstrike+Capture and is a mugging death machine. Auron has Piercing+Capture just so that he continues hitting hard. I'm on Gagazet but at this rate I will capture 10 of everything straight through to the end of the game.

I'm no expert in video game production, but I feel like before the age of DLC, there just would have been nothing at all. They would have said "These are the songs", and that's all you would have gotten, as opposed to now, when they can make new things to add to it after that point while testing and everything is going on. Would it honestly make you feel better about it if they just arbitrarily waited like two months and released something that was already done after final production on the printed game had stopped but before it actually shipped, just because you hate week 1 DLC?

It depends. If the DLC is literally just bonus content like extra songs or costumes or whatever then I'm fine with it. But games like XIII-2 that make you pay extra for crucial scenarios that are relevant to the plot (and the sequel it seems) just feels like bad development, or a cash grab, or both.

If you do the Blitzball exploit your guys don't gain experience though so it's not like all is lost. They get exp every time they pass or shoot or fight, if you stay behind the goal I think the other teams start to out level you. But at that point you should have everything anyway soooo

None of the "plot critical" pieces of dlc are really that plot critical, lightnings dlc tells you what you kind of essentially already knew, just a bit more explicitly The real problematic piece of ffxiii-2 dlc is sazhs since it turns what's a tedious nightmare (earning casino coins) into a joke and if you don't have it you will spend literally hours trying to get everything you need, including two of the best weapons in the game and a bunch of fragments It's the most unsettling because the games they lock away in the dlc in addition to being actually the fun ones to play, they show up in the main game- you just can't play them. So it's clear at some point the dev team made the whole serendipity side thing as intentionally terrible as possible to incentivize you to get the dlc, which is kind of terrible NieR Occomata fucked around with this message at 17:18 on Apr 23, 2014 |

FFX is a lot like FFXII in that 90% of it's gameplay lies in its meta and preparation, it's no real surprise that it gets all of these preparation posts

I did that when it was first released twelve years ago. I meandered through games because I was in school and had a ton of time to do so. Now I want to get everything and not gently caress around with multiple playthroughs, so I read a little here and there to gather info before I play something. Also I hate missables. I blame the Zodiac Spear.

The old saying "different strokes for different folks" applies here. Also bear in mind a number of people are re-playing FFX and have already done the "just playing through" run. There are a lot of things that get walled off throughout FFX. People just want to make sure they'll be able to enjoy the postgame content without having to jump through hoops or cheese superbosses just to get sweet loot.

Yes, but none of them wall things off quite as hard as FFX does (see also: blocking off Destruction Spheres/Anima, the Sun Sigil, etc) if you don't do things just right the first time.

I like Blitzball but it's become really boring now that I have such an overpowered team. The only challenge was the Al Bhed Psyches and now that I've signed their keeper then that's gone out the window too. Do league prizes change when you reload before checking them like tourney ones do, incidentally, or am I going to have to play two more leagues before I get my sigil?
