While obviously the images that you linked should be taken as a worrying sign, the worst thats been shown in the anime so far is some pretty (unfortunately) anime standard of "anime protag falls over and gropes chest of female character". Hell, they've even made a point of specifically addressing how Shiro and Shora are brother and sister in a much more normal (as in, not creepy) manner (if very co-dependent), instead of dumb rear end incest subplot. Hell, Shora even makes a specific point that he doesn't see his sister that way because a) he's her sister and b) she's "like 11". I was kinda worried about it after the first episode, for the obvious potential incest bullshit, but episodes 2 and 3 have been fun and great, with the show actually going down a interesting path. e: Also, theres a thead up here: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3628080 Arianya fucked around with this message at 01:01 on Apr 24, 2014 |

Now that there's a thread up I'll move this over there if I do end up watching it.

Namtab posted:Seems like it'd be easier to skip to good bits with anime what with fast forward being available from the start and the fact that a VN usually requires you to actively contribute to advancing things. You'd think that, but in my experience the awful parts in VNs are usually all relegated to individual scenes that you can just hold CTRL until they're over. Whereas with anime it tends to be more pervasive throughout a work and harder to see coming, and therefore harder to ignore. Like, to avoid dumb poo poo in a VN I'd have to hold CTRL for 20 seconds every 2-10 hours and it's usually really obvious when something retarded is about to happen, but for avoiding dumb poo poo in a light novel adaptation with particularly bad content I'd have to click around a bunch to fast forward multiple times an episode, and even then you'd have random pantyshots or cameltoe or dumb camera angles all over the place. That's most of the reason why I can stand reading 18+ visual novels but light novel adaptations drive me up the wall.

Allarion posted:Does it help that I said that the first episode seemed to have toned down those parts. The 2nd episode continued that trend as well of being less creepy than the source material, but a lot of people backed out regardless. Like you could have linked the LN's version of the bathhouse scene(NSFW), and you can already compare it to episode 2, which was not even close to being that creepy. At the moment, the anime seems to be going out of its way to keep the skeeviness to a minimum. The picture in the link is pretty much ten times worse than the anime so it's a definite step down from the cheesecake of the LNs. The number of steps may still be an issue though.

We just got through a season with Kill la Kill which was skeeve levels to the max, it's kind of funny how basically the same thing is happening but with different reactions because it's not made by Trigger. And I know some nerd is going to argue that the skeevy parts are different so that makes the argument different! gently caress you, no it doesn't. KLK had incestual rape, LITERAL RAPE

I don't think anyone is saying Kill la Kill wasn't skeevy there, and people by and large were pretty grossed as poo poo out about that! I think the reason people are making a big deal about this here, and now, because this is a thread about the Spring 2014 anime season and not the Kill la Kill thread where people made a rather big deal about how skeevy that poo poo was when it happened. And that the thing you're referring to happened like two dozen episodes in and wasn't the core focus of the entire show, where as No Game No Life has this poo poo built in from its very foundation so, you know, it's kind of like "wait, why are you watching this again?" But yes let's make yet another dumb thread be about Kill la Kill's weirdness I am sure that will be great!!

Instead, I will post this reminder:quote:REMEMBER: There’s a “Three Episode Rule” for season threads. After three episodes have aired for a show, if you wish to discuss the show you need to make a thread for it, or I’ll be probating you! This is only for specific episode discussion, you can still use this thread for general "you should really check out X, Y just got really worth checking out, is Z any good? Here's some news about W!!" stuff after three episodes for shows W, X, Y, Z air, but if no one can be bothered to make a thread for something to discuss it, then probably no one cares in general.

There is a difference between the two, but your labeling of NGNL with the latter is a little troublesome in that it's not true.

One of the things I like about ADTRW is that it doesn't seem have nearly as many creeps and paedos as other places where anime is discussed. There are some though, and it's hilarious to see embarrassed siscons falling over themselves to justify watching a gross show. In better news, apparently the new Yoshiura film, Patema Inverted, is being released on DVD tomorrow in Japan. Apparently it's been licensed for other countries as well, but I can't see anything concrete about that. I'm pissed that I didn't get to see it in the cinema last year.
