God, when I was in junior high school, my mom actually did something like this. I hated French class as a kid and was always screwing around, so my mom came in and sat in on my French class. I very clearly remember my friends continuously trying to get me to screw around with them while my mom gave me her strongest "don't you dare screw around or you are in for a world of grounding" death glare the entire stinking class period. I didn't get good grades in French still, but I'll be damned if I ever screwed around in those godforsaken classes again. Parental humiliation is such a good punishment. I did my undergrad at OSU and love the hell out of that city. Out of curiosity, how's the place that's where Bento used to be? It's right next to Chipotle, google street view says it's some place called Midway or some poo poo. I always really liked Bento and was super sad to see it go.

Yeah, I was there 2006-2011 for my undergrad. Do you remember what the bar in the same building as The Newport was called? I know it's Big Bar now, and I cannot, for the life of me, remember what the hell it was called before. Used to love that fuckin place, my friends and I went there every monday for their infinite wings for like ten bucks and got drunk off our asses every time. I used to schedule my classes to make sure I didn't have any early Tuesday morning stuff specifically so I could do wing night with my friends. Anyway, yeah it was super sad to see a bunch of my favorite places close up shop. Looking on google maps though, I'm super glad to see that Apollo's is still alive and well. Goddamn, I love Apollo's so much. That and Cluck A Doodle Doo were my drunk food staples for goddamned years. I loved the Cluck people, they were honestly super nice. Right after a really bad breakup I was moping around my apartment, called them up and got delivery even though it was only ~2 blocks away, got super embarrassed about getting delivery and said something like 'sorry I'm being a lazy rear end and getting two block delivery, it's a really lovely day' and they wrote me a really nice note about how they hoped my day got better and that tomorrow wouldn't suck. Content: http://gawker.com/nevada-ranch-militias-turn-against-each-other-over-dron-1570140614 For anyone in the US living underneath a rock, or outside the US who doesn't give a poo poo about our retarded politics: Cliven Bundy is a Nevada cattle rancher (edit: and horrible racist) who has been using US Government owned land without paying the fees to use that land for the better part of 25 years now, and owes the US Government Bureau of Land Management (BLM) close to a million bucks in land use fees. When the BLM showed up to confiscate his herd to pay his land use fees, a bunch of lunatic militia folk showed up, heavily armed, to protest and stop the BLM from doing their job. To keep things from turning into a bloodbath, the BLM backed off and the US Government has basically been sitting on its hands, waiting these idiots out, and letting them stew in their own crazy. Magres posted:Columbus chat I haven't been to Midway, but it's right across from the Union so it's always packed on weekends. I managed to survive a trip from Clintonville to Cane's walking down High St during the Senior Crawl on Tuesday night. That was a loving treat. A thousand drunks shuttling from one bar to another, clogging up the sidewalks and puking in trash cans. As I'm walking into Cane's for my weekly fix of chicken and mystery sauce, I see a fat-rear end CPD officer writing up a kid for a disorderly conduct. The kid says "gently caress this" and just starts walking away before the cop can take down his info. The cop starts to follow, kid breaks into a run, and the cop just gives up. It really is an incredible city.

Right before I left Cbus to move to Oregon (the state, not the pissant Ohio town that can't pronounce its name right) for grad school, I remember reading an article in the Lantern about a massive party that got broken up with tear gas because it was turning into a riot. Apparently the whole thing started as a minor party on Friday, which turned into a giant house party that night, which turned into a block party the next day, which had turned into a multi-block party clusterfuck by Sunday. I really do miss Columbus, it's like the shining island of 'pretty cool place to live' in the dismal sea of shittiness that is Ohio. (I was born and raised in Toledo, and god I hate my home state, Columbus excepted)
