As long as you stay away from the vocal stuff, sure. If I hear one more Septette remix that ends up sounding  , I'm gonna flip a table.

If you want good English vocals, they don't get any better than Renko from ORANGE★JAM. I've been listening to her albums lately, these are some of my favorites: truth towering emotions dreaming tonight re-imagine The albums are also available digitally on Melonbooks, which is always nice.

If you ignore the abundance of resources you can get in DDC it probably has the hardest patterns and poo poo in the series, or at least in the windows games. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the hardest game to get a no-miss/no-bomb run in. Kinda feels like ZUN reacted to making TD easy as hell by making DDC something that's not quite Baby's First Bullet Hell anymore.

Where would Raiko list on Ex boss difficulty? I didn't find her too hard, I beat her within the 2 days or so that I really focused on beating her in. Can't say the same for the others, but maybe I'm just getting less lovely at the Touhous. Oddly enough despite TD's easiness, I still haven't beaten Mamizou. For some reason I just... don't like TD enough to bother. I don't know why I'm so ambivalent towards that game even though it's got some of the best music and characters (Taoist master race) but oh well.

Raiko has a couple parts that were fairly nasty, but also some really easy spells, especially since the player has access to Spell Practice. I found her maybe a little easier than Mokou.

So apparently ZUN might have something for next Comiket in 2 months. I'm guessing it's probably a music CD but I'm not too sure. At the very least there's a circle cut for him. Also GST/FMW3 is also coming out then (Sanbondo finally updated their website). Now Blitzblast can rest at ease. I'd look up other releases but I can't make heads or tails of this catalog thing.

Plus it seems all the competent translators have dropped off the face of the planet (most likely jumped ship to the next big dumb thing). The guy who made the first patch (goes by Deranged I think) just sorta popped up without any fanfare for the first game then mentioned not doing anything for the next (he was busy). He also worked a bunch on DoD, gave up on that, and is now doing Labyrinth of Touhou 2 I believe. He just sorta shows up every few months then disappears again. I honestly tried to decode the data files to figure out how to hack in new dialogue back for FMW1, but I couldn't make heads or tails of it. I wouldn't mind contributing to a translation project at all if someone could just figure out how to hack the text in.

Do FMW1 and 2 use the same engine? I would have figured at least that the guys who made the patch for 1 could tell how to patch 2. Like, even if they don't do it, show others how they did it/release whatever tool they made.

Efforts didn't stall for lack of translators so much as because of encrypted data files and an inability to turn extracted data into a functioning executable. There's a bunch of details here, where the patch maker tried to help. Although someone did manage to decrypt the 3rd game demo.
