e: End boss defeated in the previous page!

I like that both the average player and ZEXIS GOONZ member will be too busy throwing super attacks at Gaiou to see his death animation. I never saw it before either.

No commendations for finishing the game yet because this ride isn't over. The ending sequence is a thing that has to be seen.

Endorph posted:

Is Gaioh really that similar to Lordgenome? Not really seeing it beyond the 'big brutal guy' thing.

His lines imply that he's both getting stronger to defeat something and, more importantly, the last one with Alto has him going "Man having a home sure was nice" so, whatever that was, it destroyed his world.

He's basically a big butt to us because there is a a greater evil that must be defeated and will kill us even if Gaiou himself leaves us alone.

Yeah, big burly guy who can fight mechs on foot and is murdering and oppressing people due to some cryptic cosmic threat that he only refers to in an extremely vague way.

Does Viral show up as a subpilot in one of the later Z games? Or have they not reached that part yet?

Z2 starts Gurren Lagann with the plot after the timeskip, appropriately, so yes, once you get Gurren Lagann back in Z2-2 you'll be rolling with Viral.

Have you actually seen Gurren Lagann? It'd be pretty obvious if you read the thread and have seen the show that we're not even close to that part.

I was asking if he shows up in the next games, or if the games where he does show up haven't come out yet. Of course he's not going to appear before the timeskip.

Oh, in that case, Z2-2 covers most of the post-Lordgenome half up until they reach the moon. That portion is covered roughly in Z3-1.

Personally, I've always suspected that Gaioh was an older version of Folka somehow.

Gaioh is such a lame villain I really feel that he drags down the quality of Z2 by quite a bit. Every other Original villain in the games were more interesting than him.

Look, everything else about Z3 is mind-blowingly great. It's only Hibiki and Gadrite that are just completely uncompelling. I'm already on record to this effect in a few places.

Just the fact that Z3 is not mind numbingly easy makes it worth the purchase. It's just annoying that they clearly can write good villains and then gently caress it up by putting them on the periphery.

Scott Lab

Chief! Where's Crowe?
You missed him. He's out on his first job as DAMon Hunter.
But he just got back three days ago! And a whole month since they beat the Imperium! He's been so busy!
The poor can't catch a break, I guess.
Yeah, but I thought Crowe's debt was all gone!
Well, he certainly wore out the Brasta in all that fighting.
The maintenance and repair sucked the lab dry, so I needed him to bring home some bacon.
So you're saying he's not the poor one here, the whole lab is?
Precisely, Kitty.
And there's Mr. Moneybags himself!
Aw, don't be like that. I'm just the lab's administrative consultant now.
And you'd better pull your weight, Carlos. Don't forget who took you in when Axion dissolved and you had nowhere to go.
You can count on me. With my business acumen, we'll build this lab up bigger and better than Axion ever was.
But I thought you'd get some of your money back with the Imperium gone. Can't you help us out?
I gave it all to charity. It was a condition to get into this lab.
Wow, you're improving!
Sort of.
I managed to get my freedom for all the data I had on DAMons...
But that doesn't begin to make up for what I did.
...
So it's your fault Crowe's out there fundraising.
It's sort of for his own good. He was looking awfully bored for a newly free man.
Now that Gaioh's out of the picture, DAMons are back to being just an annoyance. But now they're all over the place.
And we're getting all the bounties for them. We'll be back in the black yet.
But I wanted him to train me to pilot...
And he was going to tell me all about GOONZ...
You're pretty curious about those guys.
They're Crowe's friends, duh.
GOONZ disbanded. Its members are all back to their own lives.
And I'm not going to let you get bored either, Esther.
Meow?
Crowe can't deal with all these DAMon hunts all on his lonesome.
What she's saying, Kitty, is that it's about time you went out as a DAMon Hunter.
Me, a hunter?
Don't tell me you're nervous. No, I guess you would be.
Maybe a raccoon would be a better hunt for our little kitty.
So what?!
Whaaaaa?
Just give up, Carlos.
Esther was taught by the best. Don't doubt her enthusiasm for a second.
Let's finish tuning your machine, Esther.
Okay, chief!
(Just wait until you see me fighting just like you and GOONZ, Crowe...)
(Not because I hate or for revenge, but because I love this world.)

We never did make it back to our own world.
True.
Don't you mind, Roger?
Of course I do. There are people back there I miss.
Norman, Dastun, Angel. Besides, Paradigm needs my services as a Negotiator.
Then what will you do?
There's nothing I can do. Asakim killed Ime, the only one with the ability to cause Dimensional Quakes.
All we can do is wait for this world's dimensional technology to advance.
I see...
But we can't relax yet. Now that all of ZEUTH are Singularities, we probably won't be allowed peace for long.
In the meantime, let's do what we can for this world.
And what's that?
Rebuild the world torn apart by fighting. But you could say that's quite a fight in itself.
Just not one that can be fought with weaponry. And that's where I step in as a Negotiator.
Just as everyone else from GOONZ has gone to fight their own fights.

Warsaw Hill

We're back...
Yeah.
(Professor Dominic... I brought Eureka back to Warsaw because I promised you.)
(After the war, Holland and the Gekko left us and went off somewhere.)
(The last thing he said to Eureka and me was to apologize for all that happened.)
(I can't really say I don't still resent them for it.)
(But I'd rather start a new life with Eureka than live with that anger.)
(I don't think that's the wrong choice.)
Renton?
Don't mind me, Eureka. Let's go home.
Mquee!
Of course, Nirvash. You too.
Why did the Nirvash go back into its larval form?
I don't know, but he doesn't need to fight anymore, and neither do we.
Come on, Eureka. We'll always be together, no matter what happens to the world.
Yeah...
(Professor, I won't let Eureka go anymore. No matter what.)

Takeo General Co.

Hey, Watta...
Kappei! How many times must I tell you to address him as the CEO in the workplace!
Sorry, Managing Director. I forgot I'm a special employee of Takeo General now.
Precisely. Our corporation will mend this world with the twin values of hard work and grit...
Director, could you keep it down? I'm trying to do my homework.
Uh, Mr. CEO, you've got this sum wrong.
Thanks, Uchuta. I'm glad you're our accountant now.
It doesn't take a real accountant to do elementary school math problems, you know.
So, Watta...
CEO!
Okay, okay!
So, CEO Watta, we haven't had a job for a week and we're just killing time for days on end. Shouldn't we do something?
Eh. It means the world's finally at peace, right?
What of it? Takeo General is not in the business of fighting!
The Director is right. As handymen, we should be finding work in peacetime.
I know that, okay!
Don't sweat it, you two. Our talented salesman is out getting us a job as we speak!

I found us a job, sir! Sorry it took so long!
Awesome, Kinoshita! Way to turn this thing around!
...actually, I didn't land this one. It was Banjou.
CEO Watta, we have been requested to help transport materials for a Federation orbital base.
If we mobilize Trider, Zambot, and Daitarn, it should be done within a week.
All right, Mr. Banjou! Let's get started tomorrow!
Well done, Banjou. It's good to have you here.
Yes, our future looks bright now that you are on as our salesman!
Oh, come now. It was all due to Kinoshita's expert management.
That's what I'm saying! So let's finish this one in a snap!
Would anyone like snacks? Keiko, take them the tea.
Yes, Ms. Ikue!
Finally! What do we get today?
Today is dorayaki sent from Chief Ookouchi of 21st Century Security.
My favorite! Awesome!
You'd better thank them for sending sweets.
It's their gratitude for helping with the giant Heterodyne operation.
Let us enjoy them in celebration of the start of a new job.
Lead the cheer, CEO!
Who, me?
CEO, get it started in a snap!
Let us hear it!
Come on, little CEO!
Here we go!

21st Century Security PR Division 2

Sigh...
Akagi, if you have the energy to sigh like that, you can finish your forms.
Takeo General just got a big job. Why are we stuck here doing documentation day after day?
Now that GOONZ is disbanded, it's only fair that we return to normal operations.
And luckily, there haven't been any spacetime quakes lately.
Dai-Guard is freed up for PR Division 2's events again.
Don't tell me you'd rather be working for the bad guys, Akagi?
Of course not! Peace is great!
Then stop complaining and finish your work.
That's right. If we don't get this in, we can't have Dai-Guard at the show.
Understand?
I understand! I got it!
...
You getting bored too, Ibuki?
A little, I guess. But I'm with Akagi, peace is good.
But the peace did not last!
R-rika! You're the one that shattered it!
Oh look, it's 21st Century's engineering double act.
Whaddaya mean, the peace didn't last?
There's gonna be another spacetime quake?
Don't sound so surprised. The dimensional barrier hasn't gotten any stabler. Nothing's stopping the quakes.
So we have no idea how long we'll get to keep throwing our shows for a living.
Don't worry, though. Those Heterodynes won't get us as long as you've got me around.
You've got a plan to soup up Dai-Guard?
Hee hee. How bad do you want to know?
Come on! Are we finally going to get Great Dai-Guard... or how about Super Dai-Guard?
Forget the name, I've got to get the plans in.
So...
It's still just an idea, and I don't know if it'll pass approval.
If it'll take three years worth of 21st's profits, I don't know why you think it would!
Three years worth?
It didn't have a chance.
That's okay. Dai-Guard's real power isn't its weaponry.
Ack! Here it comes!
That's right! Dai-Guard's most powerful weapon is the hard work of everyone in PR Division 2!
You are never going to change, are you?
Him and his superhero robots, right?

...
We lead a good life.
Indeed.
But if the Heterodynes do ever attack again, they'll be there.
I agree.
No slacking off, you guys! It's due day, so we've gotta have everything done on time!
But after that...
We party! Beer and tempura on the party boat!
I won't stop you from having your fun, but don't let it affect the show tomorrow.
Of course, chief. As salarymen, we do everything with all we've got!

Dragon's Hive - Command Room

Well done, Team D. Your contract is now complete.
Yeah, about that...
Are you looking for our replacements?
Likely not. I doubt we'll find anyone capable of replacing you.
I suppose Dancouga Nova's job is over.
Then why not keep us on?
Though there are no enemies to fight, so we'll have to be on standby for an emergency.
Are you certain?
You could say Dancouga Nova's grown on us.
And F. S., you and WILL said that another enemy will come, didn't you?
We did...
Then we'll fight when they do.
All of us in Team D are together on this.
What about you, Eida?
Of course. I'm a member of Team D too, you know.
I'm going to keep singing, though. There are a lot of fans waiting for me.
I'll be happy to take up her management.
Fine. Just don't cause a scandal.
You all certainly have changed. None of us could have imagined a scene like this when you first started.
To be honest, it shocks us too.
I think the bigger shock was picking up the contract for giggles and winding up fighting to save the world.
Well, you guys did good.
It's our honor to hear you originals say that.
But if you want to keep fighting, you have to keep getting better.
Ryo and I will be your trainers.
Ooh, sucks to be you if you have to train under these two.
I couldn't ask for more. We can't always be your understudies.
Just remember those words, Aoi. We will.
Jeez, those Dancouga guys do not turn it down, do they?
You'll stay with us as well, Gran Knights and G Soldiers.
It will be our pleasure, F. S.
We'll stay with Dancouga until we make it back to our world.
Thank you very much.
Please don't. We should be thanking you.
We live in this world now. Of course we'll do our duty.
We're with the Gran Knights.
It's the duty of the Gran Knights to be the fangs of the fangless.
We will enjoy the peace while we can, though.
Heh...
Wh... what was that about?
If you stay in the Dragon's Hive, I expect you to follow my orders.
Cyber Beast Force, Gran Knights, and G Soldiers! Move out and destroy the remaining DAMons!
He's just like Sandman!
No time to relax, huh?
If you stand there, you'll end up in our dust, Gran Knights!
You're very eager, Aoi.
We get to keep fighting even with the world at peace.
Yeah, we don't have time to let our brains hold back our beasts.
You ready, Aoi?
Come on, everybody!
Let's go wild!

Battle Camp

The Crushers, Blue Fixer, and the Godsigma Team...
...
...
You are now the New Crushers, a special Federation squad assigned to research operations around the solar system.
Researching a solar system affected by dimensional quakes?
And asteroids we don't even know about. This is the chance of a lifetime.
I can't wait! This is a job fit for a man who cut his teeth on the tides of Io!
Your first job is to take Rose to the edge of the Earth Sphere.
Yes, sir!
Thank you, Commander Ohtsuka, from the bottom of my heart.
It's nothing at all. And let me thank you for your aid in defeating Zuul.
...thank you for everything, Shizuko. Please, let me apologize once more for all I did.
Rose... I know it will be hard for you. Good luck.
Thank you. I'll never forget my time on Earth.
Rose...
Mars... Zuul's defeat has thrown Gishin and the rest of the galaxy into turmoil.
I aided him, and now I must do all I can to restore peace to the worlds he terrorized... as penance.
Rose, I don't disagree with that. But...
I want you to do this for the future, not because you regret the past.
Mars...
I swore to Marg to fight for peace for the whole universe. I want you to join me in that vow.
Thank you, Mars. Of course I will take this vow.
Come on, Takeru, Rose. Space is waiting for us.
We've got a lot to do and no time to waste.
The world's changed. We can't afford to let our pasts keep us back.
Right!
But Commander... if we all go to space, there won't be any Crushers left on Earth.
Or are you going to bring in Kouji and Sayaka?
Don't worry. If I have to, I'll borrow manpower from another group.
Another group?
I can't say right now. But I'll introduce you when you return.
Then the New Crushers are embarking on a mission to learn more about the solar system.
Of course. Godspeed, gentlemen.
(Marg... the Earth's not in danger anymore. But there are still people out there who want to shatter our peace.)
(So I'll keep fighting. With Godmars, with our oath in my heart.)
(Watch over us from beyond the stars, Marg. Watch our new fight.)

Macross Quarter Briefing Room

So the Frontier Fleet's joining the Federation?
They'll have trouble repairing the Fold System, and besides, we don't know what's going on out in this galaxy.
So it'll be a while before there's any chance of taking off for the galactic core.
But it's a good thing we got everything cleared up so they'll let us back in the fleet.
I guess.
(Don't jump for joy too quick.)
(The Federation wants the fleet where it can keep tabs on it.)
(Especially for its military technology. They'll want the S. M. S. under them, since it owns data on our latest weaponry.)
(So we're political pawns, huh?)
What are you two whispering about?
W-we're not...
Please don't jump to conclusions, Lt. Bobby!
Grr! You two are awfully in sync!
A fight like this is a sure sign we're really at peace, right?
You're in a good mood yourself, Luca. Looking forward to seeing Nanase when we get back to the fleet?
Uh...
Whoops, looks like another fire over there.

Back to living on the fleet...
Sad to fly under a false sky again?
That's...
Don't try to fool me. It's all over your face.
Get off my back! We're even giving you a ride back!
I'm sorry for putting you through all the trouble, Alto...
Come on, Ranka, that wasn't at you...
Well, well... so you can be nice to her...
I was serious about you.
Jeez, can you go have your spats somewhere else?
And you!
You could have joined the Crushers or Dragon's Hive. Why are you tagging along with us?
It's a whole other world. We figured we should try living in space for once.
I've always loved space. It's like a beautiful ocean of stars.
Is that all?
Not quite... the world is turning under us with the establishment of the united Federation.
We thought it would also be interesting to watch it from space.
Besides, going by Sheryl and Ranka, the fleet's packed with cuties.
Don't forget, you're ours. We'll make you work for the S. M. S. as long as you stay with the fleet.
A-are we going to fight the Vajra again?
Don't worry, Tsugumi. We've already destroyed the Vajra queen.
Even if they come back, they're missing their master. They won't be able to organize again.
(If that were the real Queen, of course.)
We're all GOONZ, so we've all eaten together.
Yeah. We're just on the same journey. We'll find work for you guys.
What, suddenly you're better than them?
I'm not a chick anymore. And neither's Ranka, by the way.
Alto...
Buck up, Ranka. You're for real now, aren't you?
Yeah!
But I'm not letting up on you, Ranka.

So what do you think she means she's not going to let up on?
Good question. But the new world's just beginning...
And so is their competition.

Hee hee...
(Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee... your rivalry is all part of my plan.)
(The virus inside you and the energy of music are the path to my world.)
Er, Grace?
Elmo, about that project... let's hammer it out as soon as we're back at the fleet.
A production based on the Galactic Fairy and the Super-Dimensional Cinderella... certainly a dream job.
It won't be just those two. I have some other artists in mind.
I can't wait to see them!
Heh. Let's fill the new world with beautiful music.
(A world that dances to my tune. First, the bugs...)

Kurogane Bath House Garden

Yaaaaaaah!
Hup.
drat! Not again!
Don't give up, bro!
You almost touched her!
Great! Let's go one more time!
I think I've had enough for today.
Come on, Ms. Okiku! Just a little longer!
Give the woman a break. She's gotta be our serving girl too.
You sure have gotten better, though.
...
Even the Master says so. Not many people get this close to Okiku ever.
Hey, I spent all that time fighting with GOONZ.
Don't let it get to your head, kiddo. Okiku could shatter that confidence in a blink if she wanted to.
You don't have to tell me that.
Then what are you going to do about it?
Isn't it obvious?
Even if the world's at peace, I seriously doubt Dr. Hell's given up on taking it over.
If he ever comes back, Mazinger Z and I will be ready. That's what I'm training for.
Heh. I see GOONZ filled you with pep.
Well, I've got to build up my strength and skill to match.
Gramps left me Mazinger Z so I could fight for peace.
Don't forget that feeling.
(Hey, Simon should be leaving right about now...)

Great Gurren Hangar

Are you sure, Jiron?
We all are. We all want to help develop the Dark Continent.
I don't think we're ever going to be really comfortable in the city.
The desert definitely suits us better. We're like you that way.
Thanks, you guys.
Hey, don't forget about us!
We're coming too, Simon.
The land that's suffered so long under the beastmen is going to be a whole new place.
It sounds like a better place for us than enjoying the peace.
And you'll be in the lead, Simon.
Me?
You're the chief of the Great Gurren Gang. We're only here because we've been following in your trail.
Not only the Great Gurren Gang. Everyone on the continent has drawn strength from you and Kamina.
So Simon... you're the one who can change the Dark Continent.
I... I'm going to change it...
Are you afraid, Simon?
A little bit.
But I'm not alone. I've got a lot of people I love who will be helping me.
That's right, Simon. You're not alone.
We'll always be right behind you.
Yoko, Leeron, Kitan, Dayakka, Rossiu... the Great Gurren Gang and GOONZ... Nia...
Yes?
Will you help me again?
Of course we will!
Us too, Simon!
You're in good hands, chief!
We'll teach along with Ms. Adette.
I'll be responsible for games! You've gotta have something fun to do!
I'll work security with Bulme and the Gauli Squad.
Athena and I will train your officers.
Roger, Lt. Harry. It's my honor to help.
Um...
What is it, Rossiu?
You used to work for the Moon Queen, right?
Would you mind telling us about her?
Not at all, but why?
Now that we're free of the beastmen, we'll have to build our society anew.
I would like to learn about government.
Of course. I hope Lady Diana and I can be of some help to you.
Gimmy, Darry, let's do our part!
Okay...
We're members of the Great Gurren Gang too!
Thanks, everybody. Let's do this together.

You mind if we help you build your new country?
Ryoma!
What, "Ryoma"? We're here too.
We're not the right types to live under the glorious new Federation.
Ha ha ha! This'll be fun!
Of course. Welcome.
Hey, Genki, introduce yourself to the nice people.
...
It's okay, Benkei. Genki can't stay cooped up for long in this wide desert here.
Well, thanks. I'm sure you'll be a big help.
Hey, you're Kamina's little bro. Don't let us down.
(Bro, we've come all this way from that first day we climbed out of that hole.)
(But we've still got a long way to go. Because together, we can go anywhere.)
(Just like you said, my drill can bust the heavens. It'll dig us wherever we want to go.)

Black Knights' Base

Chirico's gone missing?
Y-yeah... as soon as we got back to the surface, he just vanished without telling anyone where he'd be.
Whaaat? I thought this was Chirico's home sweet home!
You can't pin that guy down that easy, Cocona.
Boss, why do you sound like you knew Chirico was going to run off somewhere?
He's gone out looking...
For that woman, Fiana.
Fiana...
Well... guess I can't blame him, then.
Vanilla! Not you too!
I don't think you can get between those two. You should know that.
But... but...
Um, Cocona... Chirico didn't say where he was going, but he did leave a message for you guys.
Wha?
It just said "see you again."
Chirico...
What? That bastard! He's trying to give us hope or something!
So, that mean you're sticking around here to wait for him?
Actually, we're leaving.
What?
If you're back here, it's gonna be blows with Britannia again, right?
We're not staying for that. We'll find somewhere else to do business.
We were hoping Chirico'd join us there, though.
But Vanilla...
Don't sweat it. We'll probably find gunfire wherever we'd go anyway.
We'll probably see Chirico again, too. He's the kind of guy that can't live without the smell of blood and gunsmoke.
Yeah!
There you go, Tamaki. Thanks for everything.
Can't believe you finally said it, and it's the last thing...
We're leaving Area 11, but we'll be rooting for you.
Thank you, Goto. We'll never forget fighting with you.
I was hoping to see Zero, but he's gone off somewhere too.
He and C. C. had something to take care of, so they split off from us when we got back.
I'm sure they're planning their next move against Britannia.
But if they set up that Federation thing, there won't be a Britannia Union or an Area 11.
Exactly why the people will never have their vengeance if Japan is not liberated before then.
And anyway, I believe that Zero would challenge the Federation if that's what it took.
So the final battle is at hand...

That's right.
C. C.? Where's Zero?
Doing exactly what Diethard said. Making his preparations for the final battle with Britannia.
(And in this case, what he has to prepare is his own resolve...)
When's he making his move?
He'll give the order when he's ready. He wants the Black Knights standing by until then.
All right! Let's liberate us our country!
(Chigusa... if this works, we can...)
The final battle at last...
Aren't you going to say goodbye to your friends at Ashford Academy?
Why would I? I'm Karen Koutsuki. A Japanese.
I see.
(Lelouche... your men are ready. It's just you now.)

Ashford Academy

So you're finished studying abroad?
That's right. It was very educational.
You're pretty relaxed considering how much danger the world was in.
There's no place for the Imperium in the world I dream of. Its destruction was fated.
...
What's the matter, Suzaku?
Lelouche...
Are you Zero?
...
I want an answer.
...
...
What are you saying, Suzaku? Did you have some sort of nightmare?
Lelouche...
Me, Zero? Why would you ask that?
I'm sorry. Forget I said anything.
Now that I'm back to school, I'd like to relax.
Yeah...
(I'm sorry, Suzaku. How terrible must I be to lie to my only friend's face...)
(But what I must do is worth giving up all I am. Even if I have to make an enemy of you.)
(No more hesitation. I am Zero, the man who will destroy the world.)

INCREDIBLE

Ptolemaios Hangar

So the Black Knights are back in Area 11.
Aren't you Colony Gundams going to join them?
The situation's changed on us. Area 11's not half as important as it used to be.
And our Colonies have been accepted into the Federation. Our job is to stand by.
Those talks Chairman Roddick arranged between the Colonies and their administration bore fruit, then.
That tricky bastard actually kept a promise for once.
But it may only be an illusion.
What?
Ostensibly, the Colonies are going to be a member of the Federation equal to the countries.
But the three great nations are going to appoint a new Colony representative.
A puppet, you mean.
...
We're only agents. We don't know what our superiors are up to.
But if that's true, I at least will reject the Federation.
And then what? The Colonies want to join the Federation.
Then we'll fight ourselves, without any backing.
Our mission is the liberation of the Colonies.
...
Is that what you fight for?
Yes.
Even if it is not what Relena Dorian wishes for?
I'm not fighting for her.
Then what do you wish for?
...the same thing you do, most likely.
I see.
Hey, thanks for everything, Ms. Sumeragi. We should be going, though.
Thank you too. We wouldn't have been able to fight this long without you.
All humans joined as one... in a sense, Celestial Being's mission succeeded.
What will you do now?
We're still thinking about it.
If we start a new fight, will you come to stop us?
Still thinking about it.
But I hope it doesn't come to that.
Good.
Hey, we don't want to fight you either.
So long, Celestial Being. Let's meet again somewhere that isn't a battlefield.

The pilots of other Gundams... and their fight continues...
The world needs them too, if it's going to change.
So where are we headed, Ms. Sumeragi?
Like I told Quattre, we need to think about it.
Both Celestial Being and GOONZ were carried along the waves of change.
As I see it, our real fight starts now.
The world was changed. But we still don't know what happened to the stolen Veda...
Finding out is our new mission, then.
I'm not sure we have that luxury.
Unlike most of GOONZ, we and the Black Knights are still considered terrorists.
So we're on the run from the Federation?
I thought the Chairman was going to take care of that for us.
And we can hope for the best, but...
We still have a reason to exist.
Setsuna...
If this world is at peace, let us fade into the shadows. But if war breaks out once more...
Then we'll come right back.
That is our duty, left us by Lockon Stratos.
We must carry it out. We, as Gundam Meisters of Celestial Being.

World Federation Council Office

...I've set aside the perfect position for you.
...g....
Commander-in-Chief of the World Federation Military... a proper title with bite, unlike World Peacekeeping Council Chairman.
...a...hh....
I see the drug is working. Even you can't muster up the strength to speak.
Now, much as I do regret this, I'm afraid I have to make an informal movement against the office of Commander-in-Chief.
Elgan Roddick. I was shocked to find you in the data in the deepest level of Veda.
You were Aeolia's oldest co-conspirator... you've lived for over 200 years.
No wonder Veda approved cooperation with the U. N.
Gh... h... ah...
I don't know who or what you are, but I'm putting you under observation.
You'll be unconscious for a while. And afterwards, you'll tell me...
All about the Black Revelations.
Aug... gh...
I'm already guiding the Romfeller Foundation. All I need now is a working control system, and the world will turn just fine.
I will bring about the future you and Aeolia designed.
U...ugh.... ah...

OZ HQ Office

So the Commander-in-Chief of the World Federation Military is Elgan Roddick.
Yes. Likely due to his role as WPC Chairman during the Destruction Event.
Sounds like a good choice, if his policies are usable.
What do you mean?
Maybe later. Lady, send them in.
Of course.
Colonel Zechs Marquis reporting.
Thank you for coming, Zechs... and gentlemen of ZEUTH.
...
Quattro Bajeena, Amuro Ray, Camille Bidan, Fa Yuiri, and soldiers of AEUG...
As well as Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, Shinn Asuka, and Lunamaria Hawke...
...
...
I'm Treize Kushrinada, commander of OZ. I believe we've met, so I'll avoid a long introduction.
With the establishment of the Federation, the nations are pooling their military resources into the World Federation Military.
The World Federation... Military...
The largest armed forces in history, tasked with protecting every citizen of the Federation...
OZ has been recognized as an independent task force within the Military.
Elgan Roddick has recommended all of you to be considered for membership in OZ.
I am Colonel Zechs Marquis, tactical commander of OZ. I will be leading the operative squadron.
I'm Lucrezia Noin, his second in command.
(We're joining OZ?)
(This Treize Kushrinada... I guess he's not too wrapped up in our past.)
I would like to appoint Quattro Bajeena as subcommander and Zechs' backup.
Yes, sir.
The world is entering a new era. I have high hopes for all of you.
(Hopes? But what exactly does Treize hope we'll do?)
I will now introduce you to the existing members of OZ. This way, please.

I'm sending them down a cruel road...
And I will be the loser.

Master Treize...
Dorothy...
I hear those ZEUTH Gundams have joined OZ?
From Duke Dermaille? He does have a weakness for his granddaughter.
Hee hee. Is that a good idea when the world is changing?
Perhaps...
Dorothy, what do you want the new world to be like?
Don't you know?
I suppose...
Hee hee... ha ha ha...
I want there to be war again!

Scott Labs Transport

Ah...
Choo! Is someone talking about me?
Maybe it's Marguerite. She ditched us before we even got back to Earth. Wonder where she went?
Or maybe Asakim... he did say he was after my soul.
...
Oh well. I'm out of debt and free as the wind, and I'm even gainfully employed for 1000 G a month.
Peace and freedom at last. I can go where the mood takes me.
Come on, Brasta. The DAMons can't start their party without us.

Hey, Crowe. I almost forgot something important.
What's up, chief? Is the mission off?
Not quite. You owe me for keeping my mouth shut before that last one.
I completely forgot. 300 G, right?
Just take it out of my salary.
With pleasure. So no pay this month, got it.
I thought my salary was 1000 G!
We made the agreement a month ago. At 50% interest every ten days, your tab comes to 1012.5 G.
But you can keep the extra 12.5.
Wait a minute! This is some nasty sharking here!
I never said I was fair. You should have read the fine print.
I thought you were trying to make me feel better before the battle.
Don't try to pull that on me! I'm paying the lab's bills out of my own pocket!
Not lab funds, my actual money! So you're not skipping out on yours!

I guess no matter how much the world changes, I'm never going to...
drat it! Why am I in debt again?!

I've lost sight of my dream
In the blinding pain of my wounds
The dream I once had is fading away

Give me a reason to fight
Until I can finally have peace
Because I am allowed no doubts

A drop of water floats up to the sky
Stars cry out into the silence as they fade
Each one like a brilliantly-colored flower
Showing me my one single wish

Why do we hurt each other? We're all beings with life,
We all hurt, we all bleed
I'm a soldier who doesn't know his name
And the last thing I think of in my final moment
Is the same thing you do - the ones precious to me

Your smile is my dream
Lighting up the darkness of battle
You live in my dreams

Echoing through the universe
A voice wanders in between, and I don't care if it's false
The thread of time is warm and soft
It brings us one single hope

If I were born again, I would find you
Even if we find ourselves in hatred
We will reincarnate over and over
Until the world is free of war
Into a future where all our hands are joined

Why do we hurt each other? We're all beings with life,
We all hurt, we all bleed
I'm a soldier still without a name
Holding onto my one single wish
Another flower scattering into the sky
I'm a nameless, lonely star

Every line plus a translation of the ending itself? :golfclap: You've gone above and beyond the call of duty, Caphi, bravo.

I have to admit, when you started this LP I was skeptical. Doing Z2-1 (and by extension intending to do Z2-2) without an existing Z1 LP to build from and also translating as you go? Boy am I glad I was wrong! I knew very little about Z2 going into this, just having watched some youtube videos of Saisei-hen's final stages. It was really interesting to see how that whole mess started, especially because I didn't even have a PSP back then. :v:

The Zverse is really interesting for a glorified excuse to do a crossover, and going over Hakai-hen's plot a second time made a lot of small details stand out more. The antagonists give you a lot to chew over while we wait for Tenkai-hen, and the original leads are more subdued than the usual SRW fare so dialogue transcriptions give a much better picture of them than the usual plot summaries SRW games get.

Thanks for the LP and congratulations on finishing.

I'd kind of rather leave this game at this nice ending and leave the return of all the problems to Z2.2.

S.D. posted:

Nope, it's Dr. Mishima.

Okay, deep breath.

I think I've used so many words on this thing I don't have any left to explain how I feel right now. This project has been long, exhausting, enriching, and rewarding, and though this may be weird and kind of pathetic, it's probably marked off a section of my life. Miraculously, it hasn't even burned me out on SRW (quite the opposite; I got a new appreciation for the depth and detail that was with me in my Z replay, Z3, and beyond). The presentation has grown and evolved from chapter to chapter, and it's a very different work from what it was back in the rear end-chapters before there was a GOONZ to speak of. It may be selfish, but I'm going to largely leave them alone as a testament to my own years-long change as the craftsman.

The practical question hanging around is, when are we going to see Restoration?

I started with the goal of getting to do all of Z2. Hell, that's why I offered support for Z. The second half of Z2 is good - not perfect, but it's worth sharing the warts, too. I have notes on how to cap the scenes, the moments. I may have started this whole thing just to get to some of those.

I've been thinking hard about that for the last several months leading up to the Destruction Event finale, and it very much pains me to say I don't have any plans to continue this through Z2:R now.

The LP has grown in scope and quality and so has the content, at the same time as my ability to keep up with it waned. They say a fansubber's lifetime is four years of high school and four years of college. Z2 started when I was just out of college and had very little to do or call mine and is ending as my adult life is leaving the ground. I still do some things for fun - we'll see where they go - but Z2 has grown beyond my ability to continue it to the standards I now want for another three or four years. And yes, Z2:R is bigger and longer. You've all seen the updates get rougher and less frequent in the last act; I can't do that to a project I'd want to put love into. I'm too old for this, and to be honest, I think so is my loyal old PSP, which has done nothing but record this for a year or so.

I love it, but like Crowe, I think I'm ready to enjoy a bit of freedom.

If anyone wants to take this as a free-for-all on Restoration, I'd be happy to offer translation and technical support like I did early in Z. The only thing I'd ask is that you do the same thing I was planning to do from the start, which is to wait for the Z LP to complete or at least reach the endgame, since there's more Z stuff coming up in it and there's no point getting into those spoilers.

To not finish this on that note, I'll finish it with thanks. Dr. Pepper is basically responsible for this thing existing. Brunom1 supplied music (oh god I haven't compiled the music) and motivation. Wish them both the same luck on Z, by the way. I also want to shout out to Magenta Galaxica, who is not a goon and may or may not read this, but is a dear friend, partner, collaborator, and encouragement. He's helped with the writing a little, and we talk a lot about Z, too.

Finally, thanking everybody is required, but don't think that lessens it for me. This would not have gone to completion without the thought and hope that it was making someone's day a little bit, every so often. The thread's educated me and kept me honest and generally made this rewarding to do, and it's put up with all my poo poo along the way. Thank every one of you for reading, whether or not you posted.

I'm going to be an ordinary man and an ordinary poster for a while. Catch me on SA or wherever I hang out, hit me on email or something if you want.

The first fan translation project I ever worked on, still very close to my heart, told me all I've ever wanted to know about endings: We may never see this sunrise again, but we'll see an even more beautiful one someday.

Excuse me, do you know where Saiyans hang out?
If nobody else steps up to do Z2-2, I certainly will. I'm still kind of sad that my SRW3 LP petered out but my screenshot issues further compounded the already aggravating gameplay, which certainly wouldn't be a problem with Z2-2, and I've been messing around with capturing stuff from my PSP recently and it seems to work decently well. Plus, I'd really like to know more about the story of Z2-2-- I had basically no idea about the story of any of the Z games when I played them but I've been amazed by everything I've seen in both the Z and Z2 LPs so far and it'd be a shame if we never saw that for Z2-2.

As people have said, first of all, thanks for everything! I might not have agreed with all of your choices (Omega Getter still feels wrong), but overall I respect you a lot as a translator, both here and in other projects, and I have to seriously thank you for translating the entirety of this game, which I hold dear even if it might not have lived up to how wonderful Z was (but then again, does anything?). As a person who barely understands spoken Japanese and can't read at all (but has plans on learning...someday...), you've made me enjoy Z2 even more, and I might even replay it with this as a guide to see if I can enjoy it even more when I understand not only from my knowledge of the series involved, but from an actual translation.

I don't blame you for not continuing to Restoration, this alone must've taken a lot of time and effort. I'm sure someone else will, and someone even said they would already (which stops me from doing something stupid and offering myself, who has won Z2:R but has barely any skill in the game), and offering your help even there will definitely make that project even better whenever it happens. Which I expect to not be anywhere soon, if you want it to wait until the Z LP is completed (not to insult Brunom1 and Dr Pepper, who are doing a wonderful job, I'm just pointing out that Z is a long, and excellent, game)

tl;dr, thanks for everything, Caphi! I'd say I hope to see more of your work soon...but there's no Gaim this week. Dammit, sports.

Not going to lie it saddens me a little we won't be getting another excellent LP from you, but I also understand too well what it is like to get caught up in trying to do too much free work and not getting any younger.

Writers start their stories from the end and from there motivate themselves to make getting there as exciting as possible, the journey is really important but the destination is what usually motivates the creator in the first place. What I'm trying to say is that I can see how you might have started this from all the insanity that Saisei-hen's final stages involve, but you did an excellent job so don't leave with any regrets.
