I watched Three Colors for the first time and I think White might be my favourite. Did I mess up? Also Red is definitely the only one I didn't really connect with, so maybe I'm broken.

CloseFriend posted:Now I'm tempted to watch it, even though roast humor irritates the poo poo out of me. The roast of Chevy Chase was great in just how awkward and vicious it was, though. This was when Comedy Central was still affiliated with the Friars' Club (actually, I think this was the last one), and Chase was visibly pissed-off and pretty clear that he didn't get the "point" of roast humor throughout the entire thing. (I think the story was that he was cranky because no one from SNL besides Laraine Newman showed up.) But it was just a solid 90 minutes of everyone under the sun taking genuinely mean-spirited shots at the guy -- I remember Richard Belzer ending his bit by saying something like "The only time Chevy has a funny bone in his body is when I gently caress him in the rear end." I mean, Chase is a notorious rear end in a top hat and has been for decades, but holy poo poo, they just completely teed off on him that night.

CloseFriend posted:If I had to grade an essay like this I think I'd bust out my watercolors and paint a giant at the bottom. For an assignment on interpreting archaeological data, basically really super entry level stats and logic, I got an essay that opened with a half page quote from The Matrix (the part about how humans are viruses), proceeded into a one page speculation about conflict between hunter gatherers living on a mountain and farmers living in a valley (apparently because we had included a contour map of the site), and ended with a two page, apparently unrelated essay on how in the future humans will have computers in their brains that will allow them to think more quickly.

Have you tried not being Smash Mouth? Also, I'm vaguely interested in getting in shape for the first time in my god drat life. I'm virtually unemployed so I have a lot of time on my hands and I've always meant to. Running, pushups, lifting some weights every day, that sort of thing. Has anybody felt the benefits of using protein powder or have any recommendations? I ask here because I'm not trying to get super swole or anything, so typically-average-bodied film fans seem the best folks to consult.

Source: the dude I almost married talked about this stuff almost daily the entire time we were together. Sometimes he'd sing a little song about salmonella while he ate two raw eggs for breakfast as a quick source of protein after his morning run.

Mike Zeck is a tremendous visual storyteller. That's far from the bloodiest Punisher comic, but the violence feels really visceral and kinetic. As I recall he uses panel borders for impact really well. I have the hardcover of that, I should reread it.
