This was an amazing stage. Boom finally proving it to everybody that switching from cyclocross was a good idea. Contador in attack mode is always fun.Dirtanium posted:This was a great stage to watch. ^ If he cut down on the Tramadol he'd probably not fall as much  This stage was 100km shorter distance than an actual classic with a less than a 3rd of the amount of pavé in a regular Paris-Roubaix. The classic specialists did not have a big enough canvas to destroy everyone. Look at the time Boom put in solo against the Nibali group in the closing kilometers. And it was Westra that did the damage to Contador and Talansky, combined with them being fannys and not riding hard in the cobbles. Nibali just sucked Westras wheel for 20 minutes and then had a 2 minute lead.

Finally got a chance to watch all of that. Nibali owns and I'm starting to like him more these days. Contador just had to make it home in one piece and he figures he can do what he likes in the mountains. I hope Porte Talansky Van G Valverde and all the others attack him mercilessly and constantly. It's gonna be a good one.

His crazy descending skills have always made me like him but the hero attack this year in MSR pushed me over the edge. He rides with panache. I hope he wins, but I can't want to see Contador attacking like a madman.

That reminded me of the Strade Bianche Giro stage Evans won in 2010, sweet as gently caress. Such a shame about Froome... Nibbles/Astana impressive as gently caress. Its almost a bummer because it would be wide open between all the other contenders otherwise (and still may be), but you cant deny Nibali 2 minutes or whatever it is after today. Winning a stage gets you up on the presentation first and is its own reward. Win lots of stages and you're in contention to win the green jersey, though. All jerseys are cumulative. There are little awards like most combative rider for someone who was in the breakaway (or gets hit by a car into a barbed wire fence, rip Johnny Hoogerland's legs) Afaik nobody has worn the yellow for every single stage. Having it early on is kind of a drain because it can force your team to do all the work in the peloton, chasing down the breakaway in order to preserve it. If you just want to win the Tour you don't really give a poo poo how many days you hold it for, so long as you hold it once you reach Paris (see: Cadel Evans wearing it for the first time in 2011 after the penultimate day's time trial.
