Same here. I haven't played CS: GO since Arsenal came out of beta but I recently reinstalled the game and I can't get enough of Deathmatch. I played the franchise since Counter-Strike 1.3 back in the early 2000's (retail box) and yet this is pretty much the first time I enjoyed it.

On the opposite side of the spectrum I've been doing deathmatch for the current operation solo/with friends and I actually hate it. I'm already terrible but I feel like nothing I know about CS applies at all. I usually just try to practice pistol shooting.

Actually burst control, stutter stepping, crosshair positioning, angle checking, and more all apply. There's a reason people play DM to warm up.

I'd assume it's any key that valve sell, so long as their total meets what your price is.

The key is just a placeholder, if you like. It represents the money that otherwise can't be put into the trade. At least that's my understanding.

e: \/ sticker keys are £0.99 or something.

Keys are above store price because of foreign buyers and exchange rate variations. It'll almost never be 15% over market but if you can catch it that far above market you should take advantage of the capital gain.

I'ma buck you up.
Well if you're selling on the market, you don't need to worry about it because your money(steam bux) is guaranteed.

If you're looking for real money via PayPal or whatever, things get quite a bit riskier even if you are pretty careful. I'm not an expert on scam methods but there's plenty of poo poo somebody can do to make you think you have the money, so you go ahead and give them the item, and then whoops it turns out you didn't actually get the money(or you did, and it was then taken back from your balance because of a chargeback, the buyer using a stolen card, etc). So since crate keys of any kind are always the same price, you can lower your risk by trading the knife for however many keys via a steam trade. Then you're sitting on 100 things that are worth $2.50 so you can then go ahead and sell the keys to goons/friends/your porn newsgroup for paypal and if it does turn out somebody does a chargeback or whatever, you only lose out on a tiny bit of value.

Did they ever say why arms race is single kill only with a long weapon switch delay? That's the worst part of the mode besides baggage. Shoots and Monastery are legitimately fun maps, but there's nothing fun about losing every single gun in a single kill. Especially the ones you want to actually use. I'll lose half of those lovely smgs in a single kill any day, but it makes no sense to lose an auto shotgun in one kill or machine guns. Or a bunch of other stuff like pistols/rifles.

If you aren't playing competitive/ESEA then deathmatch is where it's at. You get to play on real maps with real guns, and the mode tends to attract all the wrong kinds of people. You get tryhard silver league players who get real mad if you use the nova or an auto sniper while they're trying to "practice", you get casual players who get real mad that someone would pick an auto sniper in casual (where else are you going to pick up an autosniper?), and everything in between.

Because that's how gungame works?

edit: beaten
but yeah gungame is a gamemode that has existed since 1.6 in the form of mods, and valve just happened to add it as an official gametype in GO.

GunGame, at least when it was a new thing in old rear end cs, often had you get varying numbers of kills until you ranked up. Certain things would be 1 kill, other things would be more. It was configurable. Or maybe some servers had you get multiple kills with each weapon? I don't remember the details, but I do remember it wasn't single kill. There was a server I frequented that definitely had a 10 kill mac10 round.

You can always play on community gungame servers if that's what you are looking for. Customized gungame as a sourcemod plugin still exists in csgo.

I always remember it being 1 kill for everything. I also always remember being ahead by a mile until the grenade came up and failing to get a kill the rest of the game. :(

I'm just disputing it being the best choice. Having to get 3 kills with an auto shotgun or machine gun wouldn't break the mode, but it would make a lot less terrible. I don't particularly like gungame to begin with, but it just seems like a far from ideal implementation of it. It's kind of disappointing when you get to m4/ak, tap someone in the face, and then that's it. Pistols are kind of the same thing. With nearly every gun in GO having a fairly reliable first shot, it's like you're using the same gun over and over again with a single kill to get a new weapon.

The original gungame plugin always defaulted to 1 kill per weapon and that is what Valve happened to implement for arms race.

http://avalanche.gungame.org/faq.php#q2 posted:

If there is no specific goal attached to that weapon, it is assumed to be whatever gg_kills_per_lvl is, except for the grenade and knife levels, where the default is 1. Read through the cvar list for more information.

edit: for what it's worth Arms Race in GO is also customizable if you are running it on your own server, you don't have to use Valve's default config. But if you really want to go that route you are better off with a sourcemod plugin.

I played a poo poo ton of gungame in css, and pretty much every gungame server had 1 kill per gun. I think I remember one server which had you get 2 kills per gun(and it was 2 kills for every gun, not variable). Not that I played on every gungame server ever.

Also, IMO gungame is WAY more fun than deathmatch. But I'm not a fan of deathmatch so that might just be me. It's super boring to run around and everyone just always uses awps and aks constantly.

Armsrace maps kinda blows, like someone said above. Plus you only go through each gun once, and I don't think its even every gun. Go to a community gungame server. My person favorite is Dogz gungame server. It has to go through every gun twice, ending with nade then knife. Dogz was the most popular gungame server in css for a long time, and I think still is.

It's so unlike the contemporary CS maps that a lot of regulars just don't know how to play it. It's more about just being a cohesive team than anything else right now.

Also I have a hard-on for any map where it's useful to use cardinal directions :haw: (Planetside nerd checking in).

Yeah quick and effective communication is absolutely vital on this map as well as being able to quickly move on information. This map is all about flanking and picking off the other team one by one. It plays way different than typical CS but it's extremely fun once you get used to it.

edit: If anything it's emboldened my stance that CS could definitely benefit from having a bunch of game modes added in. The only thing is it'd be important to make sure that the maps were appropriate for the gametype. For example I legit think a cp_ style gamemode could work in CS but using dust2 to demo it was a huge mistake.
