Back on the topic of Russian sanctions, a Dutch arbitrator yesterday ordered Russia to pay $50 bn in damages to shareholders of the oil company Yukos. People here may remember how the owner was arrested on trumped up charges back in 2003 in order to solidify the state's monopoly on the energy sector. If Russia rejects the ruling (likely), it would open up their foreign assets to seizure, so it looks like they're kind of hosed either way.

Yeah basically Hamas can't get its guys to figure out that when you launch rockets out of a UNRWA school courtyard you have to make sure the school isn't in the rocket's path. Oops! It's cool, when you post the deathcounts from 'due to the war with Jewish aggressors' you can count on the Western press to change that to 'from Israeli shells.' And even if the Israelis show pictures showing the impacts clearly on the wrong side of the building you can get your Hamas guys who also work for UNWRA (as stated before they're thoroughly penetrated) to route up a statement of disagreement and grave concern. Safe! Frankly I'm surprised UNRWA admitted they've found a third school used as a Hamas missile magazine / launch point. Doesn't say if they gave those missiles back to Hamas, too.

When you say the ends justify the means, it becomes silly to then pretend the reality of the means away. They are not trying to do what's right, they are trying to win. With that said I am kind of at a loss as to what the Israeli endgame is. The current siege and settlement policy towards gaza and the west bank does not have a clear solution that does not involve expelling all the Arabs. Which from an amoral practical point of view would be the  solution to the I/P situation. But I don't see Israel having the balls, lack of humanity or ability to weather the decades of sanctions involved in that kind of endgame. Not without some serious gamechanger.Nor does it seem likely the Palestinians will simply calm down and accept a peace treaty with the old borders. There's too many young hotheads with nothing to lose fueled both by Israels suppression and foreign support for the conflict to die down peacefully under current conditions. Israel is intentionally targeting Hamas, not schools. Maybe, just maybe its a tad wrong for Hamas launch teams to be using schools as their protection. And maybe, just maybe, the UN should do something about Hamas hanging around and launching rockets from its schools. I was on the fence about this Israel/Palestinian conflict for years. And the school shelling/Hamas storage issue pretty much helped me make my call. Israel should erase any and all evidence that Islam ever existed. Here is a pretty simple break down to think about : I have no idea when the last time a kike strapped a bomb to his chest and blew up a market. But its probably been a while. For filthy rag heads, its been 15 minutes. I'm siding with the Jews.
