Thanks for the Windows 8.1 info. All of the bad experiences I remember people talking about were literally from the first day it came out, so I filed it in my brain under "check back later." I've got it installed now and everything seems to be working fine.

If all you do on your PC is play games and navigate the net then it's perfectly fine. However if you actually use various graphical software for work like me, it's a nightmare I don't wish upon anybody.

Both posts are accurate. For the regular Windows user, 8.1 is fantastic and don't listen to the haters. The bulk of the problems are people on marginal computers trying to run a bleeding-edge OS, or people in special applications who should never ever jump to a new OS without testing beforehand. And FOSS, because stuff like the OneDrive integration is pretty annoying. But honestly it's lean, it's beautiful, I've never had a problem with Steam.

Not that there aren't some examples already, but with Steam shovelware I can see a real storm brewing. Play as a unicorn in this anime text adventure about saving the world's bacon supplies from an 8-year-old anime girl whose breasts form the continent of Asia. Now with 273 costume packs sold for $9.99 apiece that all feature slightly different colors for the 8-year-old's bikini.

I guess I didn't realize the annual games quota is being filled up. I was kind of looking forward to Wasteland 2 but it looks like it may have to be pushed back since there are no more slots for games :(

Congratulations on being one of the rare people who don't realize that Hatoful Boyfriend is a parody and a joke. I mean, I'm not going to buy it because I find dating sims boring and it sticks tight to the format it's parodying, but otherwise I see no problem with other people giving the creators money. It's funny (as it's meant to be), and it's funny that it exists.

Actually, the Holocaust was a good thing. Without WW2 (and with it, the Holocaust) we would not have a lot of the actually GOOD games we get on Steam, like the WW2 FPS games, the WW2 RTS games, or the WW2 dating sims.

It's not TERRIBLE. They made the combat a bit more indepth then "attack move", and the environments look nice. It's just all over the place storywise, and the optional evil portions are dull grinds.

If you liked controlling a horde of minions, and want to do it in a snowy/jungle/roman region, you'll probably have fun for what $5?

AFAIK, the groups list has always defaulted to the group link if there's just too many members to show in the window. I'm not really sure if something changed or not because every single group I'm in is relatively huge. :shobon: If you're trying to organize games, using the group's chat is probably the way to go.

Not to mention all of the nigh-identical "F2P" Korean MMOs with $20 "starter" packs or w/e. Or the AAA releases of questionable quality for that matter (see: Thief). Just remember the #1 Steam thread rule: Any game you don't like must be shovelware.
