I didn't mind it in the evening, though in darker scenes I could still see myself. I didn't think it was any worse than any other plasma I've seen though.

I'm used to using hella glossy computer monitors though so I might just be used to it.

I'm looking at getting a new TV and had my eye on the Sony kdl50w829b. Then I got an email from Argos saying they had the 50W705BBU for about £150 cheaper. Does anyone have any experience with either unit? I've read around and can't see much either way - both seem to have good reviews. Will be mainly using it for gaming, if that helps.

Don Lapre posted:Bypass arc and run a digital audio cable from your tv to the soundbar and see if it still happens. Is ti only on the PS4 also? I can now confirm that it is not just the PS4, as it happened over Netflix via the TV's app. I've contanted Panasonic about it and they had me reset the sound system which seemed to help but it's happening randomly again. I've swapped out HDMI cables to see if that was the problem but the problem persists. I'd ideally like to keep using ARC since it allows me to auto on the sound system and control it's volume with the TV remote. Panasonic has said I may need to send the unit in for service, so I think I'm going to try that, assuming they'll cover it under warranty. Ones that come with cable boxes especially will.

The weirdest thing is happening to my Samsung TV. (UNH6350, 48 inches). Connected to my computer through HDMI, it works perfectly. All the video and sound is perfect. I can access all the TV settings through the menu and everything. When I load the Smart Hub app, it also works fine. Boot up the Netflix app, load a TV show, and...there's sound, but no video. And I mean video, not picture; there are captions synchronized with the sound, but on a black screen. The same thing happens with the YouTube app -- no actual video but the sound is there. Nothing ever shows up no matter how long I leave it. Press Return and the picture shows up again as I go back to the browse screen. What the hell is going on? It was working when I went out of town a few days ago. e: never mind. Some kind of bizarre one-off bug. I switched back to HDMI and the video there was also out, but the sound was working. It must have died in between turning off the computer and turning on NetFlix a little while later. Beats me. Restarted the TV by unplugging it and now it's back. Isn't it great that everything is a computer now? Sagebrush fucked around with this message at 06:27 on Sep 9, 2014 |

I'm looking for a non-premium TV, probably in the 40-50" range, that my partner can watch Bravo on and I can watch the occasional football game. I had a 32" Vizio until it was removed from my apartment a few days ago, and was happy enough with it, and was wondering if their 48" versions are acceptable in this arena. Having only 2 HDMI ports is a bit of a bummer, but right now I only have two HDMI products to plug in anyway (ChromeCast and cable box).

There's a TV that's been rarely used that just got moved into the storage room at my office. It's a 42" Panasonic Viera 1080p (TC-P42S1) I asked about it, and they said that they'd be willing to sell it to me for $250.00. I've done a bit of research, and I know that it was manufactured in 2009 (they were shocked when I told them that), and that it's supposed to be a power hog. I've plugged it in and checked it out and everything seems to be solid with it. The reason that I even want the TV in the first place is because I've had my current TV (32" Viera, manufactured in 2011 I think) for a few years and I just want something that's a bit bigger. Any thoughts/advice?

I need to get a TV some time between now and the start of November, as I'm moving out and my roommate is taking the TV with him. We had a decent Samsung 48" or so model so something near that size is fine, and outside of that the only things I care about are 1080p, the ability to connect to a networked media server, and won't lag horribly with my PS3. What model are you guys liking these days, and considering I can wait for a sale, when's the best time to buy one? Should I just wait for the end of November instead? Edit: budget isn't to much of a concern, maybe a $1k limit unless it's obvious going higher will be worth it?

You can get a similar quality 1080p 42" on sale for $315 at newegg from LG. Why would you save $75 to risk having no warranty on a tv that is old. Plus in 5 years the lcd's probably advanced enough that even a low end rca would be as good. That was the first year of panasonics larger lcd's i believe so probably not the greatest on power usage and picture anymore. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?nm_mc=AFC-TechBargains&cm_mmc=AFC-TechBargains-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16889005872

I bought my 40 inch Samsung Slim LED Smart TV (6500 series) at Best Buy last black Friday for $650. It was such a good deal, I love the thing! I wouldn't trade it for any other 40 inch on the market. The picture is superb, my old TV was only 720p and I can really tell the difference (this was my first 1080p TV). The only feature I've kind of stopped using is the Smart aspect as I've gotten a PS4 but it's still worth every penny I spent...

I'm interested in picking up TV that's probably on the not-super-big end, 49 inches probably, and is OK but not incredible in terms of picture etc. Maybe like a Vizio M of that size? I'm not in the biggest hurry so I could wait a couple months, is that sort of thing likely to see much of discount?

LG 55EC930 is the latest TV to come out and it's actually cheaper than the older ones. Unless you care about 4K (you shouldn't). Some new 4K TVs are coming out in a month or so, but they will be a lot more expensive and probably not worth the price difference.

Vizio 4k Chat I'm a little concerned about how some users showed how colors seemed to blob with 1080p content and when directly connected to a PC some 4k content suddenly became blocky. Granted, he was using integrated graphics. I'm going to wait abit, at least until we got some official reviews but this does seem like the tv to buy.
