I just got this AV and already I'm thinking I should have a Steve Lichman instead. I mean just look at that first panel; it's like a complete comic in itself, with like three punchlines in it. His expressions tell complete stories and none of them even has lips. I was also startled to learn that the expression "gently caress My Life" has a face, which is blue and lacks a nose. I can't stop gushing over Steve Lichman.

"We don't want to use religious stuff anymore, buuuut we don't wanna do anything inconvenient like make a new calendar.... *takes out a marker, crosses out A.D., writes C.E.* Brilliant!" "So what did all mankind suddenly have in common in the 28th year of Augustus Caesar?" *crickets*

Is that a problem though? Actually changing the calendar is just not a practical option because it would just mean a small group of people using a different calendar to everyone else, but really not because they'd still have to deal with everyone else still using the old one.

Let's just restart at Zero and say "AZ." As in, after zero. People could be like "so when was zero?" and we could be all like "well it was *whatever the year is* years ago. Duh!"

"We don't want to use religious stuff anymore, buuuut we don't wanna do anything inconvenient like make a new calendar.... *takes out a marker, crosses out A.D., writes C.E.* Brilliant!" CE and BCE was started by religious Jewish scholars who didn't want to convert between the Jewish and Christian calendars all the time, but wanted to avoid the implied acceptance of Christianity in the term "Anno Domini". So yes, it was deliberately intended to avoid Christian references while maintaining the convenience of using the dominant calendar system. Congratulations, you cracked the code!

It's the Commonly Used Dating Era and it's now used by people for whom the term 'The Year Of Our Lord' (Anno Domini) really doesn't apply because it's not their Lord. So Common Era. It's fine. Deal with it.

Society has to have some standards.

I read an entire Ian M. Banks book on my cell phone last year. I meant after I enlarged the image by clicking on it I still had to lean in and squint. I know all the tricks and that font is still hell to read, and because it didn't have a zoom in on some farcical lesbian's o-face I didn't realize it was moon over june until it was too late.
