looking at the bitcoinity charts, it looks like the 6 month low was "effectively" ~$400 - there were some brief moments where we started to get into the 300s, but this is the longest it's been under $400 for a really, really long time

the pretty yellow line has been lower for the past 2 weeks than it's been since the great goxxing of our time

Has anybody tried simply calling the lawyer in charge of getting ETF: COIN approved? (self.BitcoinMarkets)

submitted 3 hours ago by notisis

I just did. She expects the review process to continue for at least one more year. That was a bit shocking for me as I was hoping for late 2014.

Hi /u/notisis,

While I'd love this world to be a place where we can blindly believe what people say on the internet, sadly, we don't live in that world. Please submit me some shred of proof and I'll reapprove this post (and remove this comment).

EDIT: I reached out to Kathleen Moriaty via email to confirm /u/notisis claim. Below is the email she sent to me in its entirety:

Dear Taylor,

I did speak with a Bitcoin investor about 15 minutes ago, although I was unaware that he intended to quote me or otherwise discuss our conversation. Your message is a useful reminder that I shouldn’t hazard any guesses. The SEC has warned me not to provide people with possible speculative information about the complicated process of launching a new securities product for public sale, so I have been saying either (1)“it could take quite a while, like a year” or (2)“there is really no way to tell, since the regulatory process is very complicated, especially with respect to a new asset like bitcoin.” From now on, I’ll just use statement (2), so if you want to quote me, just use that one. Thanks so much,

Kathleen

if it were actually solvable in a reasonable manner, it would be super awesome for making fault tolerant systems

bitcoin only solves the problem by making the generals unable to issue orders unless they have solved a crazy math problem, and they still get into conflicting states sometimes, also your voting power is based off how many math problems you can solve instead of having one vote per general

basically, no, because almost all solutions are insane. if they weren't more normals would care about it

i'd argue that it creates a workable heuristic for exactly the use case it was intended for

but it doesnt really have good applications outside of that

Chinese bitcoin exchange Huobi has revealed that an accounts error has resulted in significant amounts of cryptocurrency being accidentally and incorrectly deposited into customers' accounts.

Huobi announced the mistake through its official Weibo account, reporting that 920 bitcoins and 8,100 litecoins had been wrongly deposited into 27 different accounts.

However, a user on Weibo going by the name of Virtual Currency Data Center, claimed that the figure was actually 5,000 bitcoins and 50,000 litecoins.

This sum equates to around $2 million (£1.2m, €1.6m) worth of bitcoins and $225,000 worth of litecoins at today's prices.

good to know bitlord incompetence and shadiness is not limited to decadent western capitalists, but i thought china already "banned bitcoin" like 3 times already?

answers abound if only you ask:

I'm in the black and the price will probably never fall back down to the levels to put me in the red. I actually want it to fall further because I'm accumulating for the long-term(years).

From the same guy:
