Any news about whether or not we're going to get mutators this time around? It'd be nice if it'd be easier to integrate them too. Hosting a listen server while trying to get mutators working is difficult.

They said they're doing Workshop support right out of the box so I assume that mods/mutators will be a thing.

I for one have confidence that the PC version will be the superior product our discerning tastes demand while the unwashed console hordes will also have something to placate their vacant, bestial yearnings. In all seriousness, aren't ultra high-end graphics the last major distinction between playing on the two platforms? I just gave my old PS3 to my little bro because I realized the last time I used it was when Dark Souls 2 first came out, no plans to buy another console, if that gives you a sense of my investment in 'winning' this debate for either side.

I can't consistently headshot off the cuff for poo poo even with a scope even with ![]() Unless I was support, who didn't need to. I swear it's like my ability to aim headshots well is inversely proportional to how vital it is to function. My take on PC vs Console right now aside from exclusive stuff still has a layer of "Me and my brother do not feel like buying two copies for our individual steam accounts or whatever." practicality for bigger/longer games we both have an interest in. Or just because we feel like it, basically.

This PS4 horseshit had better not mean that there are not dedicated servers and a serviceable server browser this time around. Also gently caress cross platform play, if I wanted to play with a bunch of 13 year olds howling racial slurs I would get xbox live. Plus I don't want to be handicapped by someone using a controller. Tripwire burned themselves with RO2 and hopefully they learned their lesson.

Yea because PC gaming doesn't have 13 year olds howling racial slurs. ![]() I'm more worried about cost to be honest, wondering if Tripwire will got the standard 60 dollar route or a little less, I assume the game will be more expensive given how much expansive and impressive it is.

There is literally nothing worse for a PC than cross-platform play. Unless you a weird frenchmen (Warframe) your PC players are stuck with console patch cycles and content, and that is a lovely prospect in every way.

While I don't expect it to happen, it would be cool if the music was dynamic in such a way that parts get added and sped up as more and more enemies start piling up, until you are in a real poo poo show and it is going full blast. Could of sworn some other game had done it recently, but I can't remember its name.

I am going to wait until the game comes out before I commit. I know a lot of people were soured by Red Orchestra 2 and I don't want to get burned out of playing KF2 by springing for early access. I would be more worried if it was RO2 that went cross-platform. Unless they can plug a mouse and keyboard into their consoles, those players are limited to being ammo runners or grenade kamikazes because its going to be a fool's errand trying to fight with a controller.

No, it was weird. The beta was fun but then the full launch was worse in almost every way somehow. It took them a while but for the past year or so it's returned to being super fun to play as long as you play non-vanilla gameplay modes (realism/classic). Maybe the vanilla RO2 is actually good now as well but I just never take it off realism servers.

Can't have us console gamers hampering their flawless PC gaming experience! It's a worrying sign because i don't think Tripwire ever ported a game to consoles and Tripwire is incredibly loving incompetent so while KF2 is showing tons of good things that simple thing might cause tremendous bugs and glitches. This is the company that won an Unreal competition with Red Orchestra, released the game and then admitted a few months after releasing RO2 that they didn't know what people liked about the original game, which is why they added level unlocks, crosshairs and maps that ignored balanced maps in an attempt to create maps that looked realistic (i.e. the opposite of RO1). They also released a beta version of RO2 that was better than the release version ![]() So there's plenty of reason for people to be a bit worried. I'm looking forward to KF2 but i sure as hell won't be pre-ordering it.

Ahh, then the skepticism isn't undeserved then. The weird thing about RO2 is even while it was a huge mess KF kept its fairly-stellar post-release support going, although there was a noticable increase in low-effort paid DLC near the end of its lifespan (lookin' at you, neon weapons pack!). I'm cautiously optimistic about KF2 even after seeing the RO2 trainwreck first-hand, if only because Tripwire seems to care about KF significantly more than all of their other products. I really don't expect the game also being on PS4 to be that big of a problem unless they insist on having patch parity between the two platforms. The PS4 is just a low-end PC, this isn't the dark ages anymore. Also suspecting cross-play won't be a thing because that's generally something that's bragged about in marketing.

Tripwire's owners recently posted a lot of information publicly so there's a lot more information about the plans for PC/PS4 out now. Highlights include: PC remains the Primary Platform. No plans for cross play. No need for update parity. No, Sony isn't our publisher now. No, they didn't pay for the development of KF2. Yeah, we know RO2 had an awful launch but that was years ago and the company is twice as large, including QA specialists. Note how much better the launch for Rising Storm was. If you don't trust us to deliver then keep your pre-order/early access money in your pocket and wait and see.

I'm hoping for Mac and possibly also Linux support. And I'm hoping that this time, it doesn't have permanent since launch bugs, like perk advancement being broken, or the Mac port switching sound devices to 16kHz on startup but playing a 44100Hz signal slowed down over them.

In RO2 I sniped from a bridge by the German spawn in Stalingrad and racked up ~30 kills as desperate Russian players tried to rush across the train tracks to cover. ![]() DeusExMachinima fucked around with this message at 02:06 on Dec 10, 2014 |

Well, Grain Elevator was a merciless slaughter of Germans, unless they managed to crawl inside the elevator, at which point it became a slaughter of Russians and Pavlov's house is super poo poo, done on porpuse because it was totes historical. The trainyard map is also terrible. They just shut off their brains during the creation of RO2's maps. It's even worse when you look at Rising Storm and it's clear that someone over there knows how to make really good maps. Where the hell were they during RO2?
