I spent about two hours crying while reading through these comics earlier - My Kitty and Old Dog. It's probably only worth reading if you're an animal lover, especially a cat or dog lover, and it wont crush you like Can't See, Can't Hear, But Love, but it mixes in cute funny comics with really crushing ones, along with ones that are super heartwarming and make you feel good. They're really short, you can probably read about one a minute if you push through them quick.

I'm still amused that the Black Forest Defense Group is apparently based in the actual Black Forest and named after that rather than being some random adjective-noun group-name. This series is loaded with attack names that are are formed of six word long strings, but here we get a group of dudes named after a well known geographic location.

I actually think I like the comedy parts of Noblesse more than the action. I tend to like the comedy in Korean web-comics/manhwa more than the comedy in Japanese manga for some reason. edit: Rai doing normal people things never gets old. I marathoned The Breaker over like two days and am around 50 chapters into New Waves. Pretty good so far, but The Breaker felt really..rushed? Lotta things seemed to happen too fast and the pacing was kind of weird, still enjoyed it though. My only complain with New Waves so far is that the Jinie is the best but the MC is prob going to end up with his old gf who never appears anymore or the boring long black haired chick. RIP. edit: Oh yeah is there a legal way to read New Waves because the "gently caress ALL ONLINE READERS" watermark on the releases was funny at first but now it just annoys me. The only thing that bugs me about New Waves is that Shioon's -raw- power relative to everyone else keeps going down along with 9 Arts'. Like 9 Arts kinda makes a joke of 3 masters at once in The Breaker and almost single-handedly demolishes hundreds of reasonably high-ranking guys. Shioon has no training and thus can't win on technique but his raw power shocks even grand masters. Now Shioon can't seem to really do much outside of beat the poo poo out of mooks. 9 Arts fights worse than he did with a loving broken arm in The Breaker. Also all of the "new, awesome, youthful" characters suck poo poo; Elder Kwon is pretty much the best character.

Shioon has regularly shown that he can adapt and beat non-mooks, he has done it multiple times. 9 Arts took down the 5 arts or 4 arts or whatever dragon, the current leader of the Murim who was said to be stronger than the previous murim leader, and as strong as multiple of the school masters. Like seriously, the only fight we've seen 9 Arts do was against the second strongest guy in the Murim, the one who according to his own boasts would have been able to master all 9 arts, but stopped because he realized he was making the other masters look week. And he won without major injury, while leaving the second strongest guy dying.

He also fought the phantom doctor and didn't die immediately as well as fighting other extremely strong opponents in both The Breaker and New Waves. Give him a break. For all the magic kung fu, they've actually done a good job on Shioon's growth, motivation, and overall journey into this world. Anyways, Shioon still has the Black Heaven & Earth technique so mostly everyone is powerless against him in reality.

Like in this exact fight that cool guy Cool Guy explicitly stated that Shioon's opponent seems to have grasped Shioon's weakness - he's really strong, on pure power he could probably beat anyone who isn't one of the big important masters, but he doesn't have the experience or training to really fight well. He gives huge decisive blows but he just lacks experience. Thus why the guy he's fighting now is going purely defensive, slowly wearing Shioon down without showing any weakpoints - because if he showed a weak point or opening, he'd lose in one hit.

With the same tone? Not that I can really think of. Veritas was definitely the closest, at least in the Manhwa realm. You can look at some other martial arts manga like Shamo or even Sun Ken Rock. The latter is especially good if you like the whole 'win out of sheer tenacity' aspect that Shioon has; but goes a bit overboard with fanservice.

Just gonna go ahead and say God of High School might be able to satiate your bloodlust although it's a story about Sun Wukong and not really Veritas-esque at all. Nice beatdowns/flipouts but usually less dramatic or dominating as in Veritas. Also, GoHS is really good in terms of interesting characters, powers, and escalation of intensity.
