Vampire bats can actually see really well and use their sight more than most other bats. That aside, it's both too long and too short for any real comedic timing. Not long enough to be real buildup, too long to be punchy.

Yea if you want a less dense and clunky version of a decent joke idea it'd go One night a vampire bat came back to the cave with blood all over his face. The other bats said 'woah man where'd you get all that?' The bat pointed out the cave to a large tree nearby and said "see that big tree?" "I sure as hell didn't."
