like food and water, my posting has no intrinsic value

yeah, it's usually an ebook for some kind of complicated solution that might technically work for the problem but which wouldn't actually do any good.

there was one early example that promoted turning your tv into a big screen TV for $20, and it was a stupid carpentry project involving plastic lenses and cheap mirrors and flipping your tiny old TV on its side to get a blurry, distorted image. think this terminal in brazil.

or there was a "get free electricity with a trick THEY don't want you to know," which was "build an elaborate set of induction coils near the power lines." never mind that it's dangerous and illegal to get too close to power lines and you'd need to spend a ton of money building that rig to get tiny amounts of power. i get the feeling the best case scenerio is your rig gets dismantled and sold for scrap copper by thieves, worst case is you die and then your corpse gets sued by the electric company. it'd be a good way to mine bitcoins, though, and it seems like something tesla would approve of.

most of them are just dumb diet plans involving doctor oz superfoods as the one weird trick, though. and there was one that said it had a plan to make more money than bitcoin with "supermoney," but the trick was just "daytrade the Australian dollar on forex."

e: vvvv he did it both as that, and a "tip me to not get naked, girl followers. lol sure would be a shame if u saw my penis. tips go to charity." he never specified what the charity was.

not too much new in this WaPo blog post, but it's cool to see the lamestream media explaining butts.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...ian-to-another/

quote:

But Bitcoin isn't a currency. It's a Ponzi scheme for redistributing wealth from one libertarian to another. At least that's all it is right now. One day it could be more. Venture capitalists, for their part, are quick to point out that it's really a protocol, like the early internet, and its underlying technology could still be revolutionary. What are they supposed to say, though, when they've bet hundreds of millions of dollars on it?

But that's not much of a consolation to anyone who bought anywhere near Bitcoin's $1,100 top. Or near $1,000, or $900, or $800, or, well even yesterday's prices. That's because Bitcoin hasn't just fallen 76 percent the past year. It's fallen 36 percent the past two days, as you can see below, with a 24 percent decline the past 24 hours. It's too bad Bitcoin doesn't have a central bank to help stabilize its value.

What in the name of Satoshi Nakamoto is going on? Well, two things. First, Bitcoin's big bubble has been slowly deflating for over a year now. It has no inherent value, after all, because, despite companies trying to get free PR by saying they'll accept it, almost nobody uses it to buy anything other than drugs. Second, though, is a problem that's all too familiar to anyone who tried flipping condos in Miami ten years ago. Bitcoin miners, you see, borrowed money—and real money, as in dollars—that they could only pay back if Bitcoin prices kept rising, or at least didn't fall this much.

it does a good job explaining why mining during the last bubble has created a death spiral that could lead to the frisbee on the roof and the whole thing will fall like a house of cards. checkmate.

This is Roger Ver. Last year he renounced his citizenship to avoid paying US taxes. Now he's upset that the "tyrants" in the US government won't give him a visa to visit Miami this weekend to speak at a Bitcoin conference.

As many of you know, unitary, robust citizenship is an important value to me. Another big interest of mine is morons and arrogant douchebags, especially people who fall into both categories. Which brings us back to Roger Ver, variously known as a "Bitcoin entrepreneur" or the "Bitcoin Jesus." Ver is now a citizen of Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. He was so excited about avoiding taxes that as soon as he became a Nevisian he set up yet another start up that would allow you to use bitcoins to buy a Saint Kitts and Nevis passport so you too could avoid US taxes. Alas, it folded after a few months, apparently because the St Kitts government disavowed it.

I would be fine with them denying my visa if it was for a valid reason, but they are either lying, ignorant, or stupid when they claim that I plan to secretly overstay my visa and live as an illegal immigrant in the USA."

I'm curious what lawyer Ver was talking to. Because they were ignorant, bad lawyers. The US code explicitly states that former citizens who renounce their citizenship to avoid taxes are an excludable class. See Sec. 212 [8 U.S.C.1182].

The profitable investment is CHF (Swiss Francs). EUR/CHF and CHF/EUR are not assets, they are currency pairs (markets). The EUR/CHF market, for example, is CHF bidding on EUR.

CHF has risen (a lot relative to EUR, but also relative to USD)
EUR has fallen (a lot relative to CHF, but also relative to USD)
USD has fallen relative to CHF, but has risen relative to EUR

if we compare bitcoins last 24 hours, except the hours between 22 and 20, against this other currency's performance in the last year, excluding the last 8 months, also use the vs dollar exchange rate for the first half and the vs euro rate for the second, then it's actually doing pretty good!

Hi Andreas
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with all the love you get from the community? Or maybe the expectations many have for you always representing "bitcoin" in the best possible way. Of course I also think you are doing a great job, but I could also imagine you are feeling a lot of pressure and are very busy.

Word of warning in case you stumble across the company Igot.com. Think carefully about using. I think they have gone. I went through the registration process and their site still works automatically. And the verification process is also automatic. Everything looks great until after you deposit money to their account. Then you realise there is no one behind the site. I have contacted their receiving bank (Fidor), and also contacted my bank hsbc to reverse the payment. However, I don't hold much hope! I have opened tickets with Igot, sent them emails, tried to contact on FB and Twitter, but receive no response. I think they are gone! But their bank is still receiving money.

Note to self....do more research before making a payment.
