There was a question whether Santander would follow Fred to Mac, and the answer to that is obviously no. Early 90's black is back. From the car launch video

simplefish posted:Firstly, look at where the black is. It's actually in a shape on the Merc and on the McLaron it's the whole bottom half. Plus the Merc has the Petronas Teal along the length (nopse, rims and sidepod), rather than red lines that cut off somewhere around the front of the cockpit. I like the pattern on the Merc's spine as breaks up the colour, whereas Button will be driving something that's just plain silver for the sake of silver. Also the fact that the teal is more gradiented/feathered/whatever than last year's. the red stripes on the mclaren extend from the nose to the rear wishbones FYI you've clearly only looked at the the car from one angle also re: ferrari I FOUND SANTANDER GUYS

He's not poo poo, he just needs a very specific car set up to give the absolute maximum he's capable of. They managed that at Lotus which is why he won races with them. Same way Vettel is crap unless the rear end of the car is absolutely rock solid. I'd really like to see what happens if Ferrari somehow managed to make a car that suited both of their needs. It could be a really interesting battle between them.

Woah what about that beauty of a car lads! I'm loving the pointy, stabby nose cone, not sure I understand the Alfa Romeo on there instead of the Ol' Trusty FIAT. Probably something to do with Marchionne the oval office. In some ways the Scuderia always finds ways to make themselves ever more but all these obscure international companies slapping their sponsor stickers on them is really starting to grind my KERS. I don't think any of the cars look at all bad. The McLaren livery isn't exciting, but if it's only an interim testing livery who cares? Only Williams, so far, have gone for the finger solution, which is nice to see, and the other teams seem to have a variety of nose designs instead of just copying Mercedes as they might have done. The Sauber livery is nice, but would look better with more sponsors to break up the big blocks of colour. It's good to see more black than white on a Ferrari, but the placement of the UPS and Alfa logos is really clumsy.
