Just another good score for Honda - anime is massive business in Japan, Alonso likes anime, Button has a half-Japanese girlfriend, etc.

Giancarlo Minardi knows what F1 on a shoestring is like, and as usual brings some sense: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117635 F1 has always treated its privateers like poo poo, not recognising they are where everything big in the sport comes from.

If you lose a small team, the next smallest team becomes the small team. Marussia weren't even a small team, they were just the smallest in 2014.

The one, the only, Giancarlo Minardi raged against the decision not to let Manor/Marussia drive with the 2014 car; warning that eventually a top team will find itself at the end of the grid without the backmarkers instead. Edit: I just want to emphasise the glory of old school team manager Minardi. Riso fucked around with this message at 17:32 on Feb 10, 2015 |

He raises a valid point. Red Bull are throwing a huge shitfit because they finished second in the championship, imagine the poo poo hurricane if they were at the back of the grid. Less Horny Horner whining is enough of a reason to keep marussia around in my books.

Less Horny Horner whining is enough of a reason to keep marussia around in my books. Minardi ran in an era where they would grab the occasional point and keep going for the sheer sport of it. The change to 3 litres hurt them (the Ford ED was a joke) It seems impossible to do that nowadays. I still wish there was a decent, cheap(ish) standardised powerplant in F1, rather than hugely expensive client engines (everybody runs 'A' spec, essentially) that are subsidising the works R&D. Speaking of which, with two teams remaining, how long do you think Renault are going to stay in? My guess is they won't be around either 2016 or '17, dependent on their run this year.

I'd guess 2017. They have to be losing money hand over fist since Red Bull gets their engines for free, leaving toro rosso. Hard to justify from a marketing standpoint. They should bring back a two tier championship like they had for that one season in the 80s. Let poo poo teams run the V8 and if you win that championship you're obligated to run the V6 next season.

By a simple mathematical process, therefore, the McLaren is clearly going to win nine races this year. (Or maybe not.)
