McLaren published a list of their 50 'most significant drivers' and put Denny Hulme at like 12th - that's like putting Graham Hill outside a top ten of 'most significant Lotus drivers'. That's why I hate him anyway.

Ron is autistic. My brother is also autistic. I still think Ron is a oval office. Make of that what you will. Here is a question for you. Do you support a team or a driver? I support Lewis, gently caress off don't hate me, and followed him to Mercedes. If he moves to Ferrari I would like them to win. Is this the most common or is following a team more common in this thread? Following Newey is a twat move tbf.

tbh I always love Ferrari, but there's always a few drivers I'll like pretty much no matter what. Like Big Pastor Maldonado, or Kamui (RIP). Even Jenson Button, despite the awful fraud team he's currently in.

I've always supported drivers over teams, but reserve a special hatred for everything Ferrari. Plus I think Red Bull (and Christian Horner specifically) are loathsome shits.

The last time we won the constructors championship was 1998 and the last time one of our drivers won the drivers championship was 2008. Please give us tens of millions of dollars as we are definitely a top team.

I've supported McLaren since I was like 7 and mostly continue to do so because I don't want to be a glory hunter and support whoever's winning right now (i.e. Red Bull or Mercedes). Ferrari are entitled twats and the rest of the grid are (usually) poo poo, so McLaren's all that's left for me. I used to be a huge Lewis supporter but I guess I figured out I was more about McLaren than him when he suddenly moved to Mercedes in 2013, because I stopped caring as much after that, which I guess is funny because the second I stopped being a huge supporter he starts winning poo poo again. Maybe when I finally swear off McLaren they'll suddenly start dominating and I'll have egg on my face again

If anyone was wondering, his simple point earlier was that a 'title sponsor' was significant because they covered (say) 50% of the team's costs, rather than because their name was in the team name snd in the livery. Dudley switched the former and the latter (in a more literal intetpretation), leading to a debate. They ended up talking past each other, because a 'significant' amount of money is a relative term - do we judge it based on %team costs covered, or %sponsorship you actually have in that year because the past is history? It is a good discussion but not if you are so concerned with showing how wrong the other one is that you fail to explain your position. Because then you get "Lol ron sez he can't get a title sponsor but everyone else has one, he's just bitter and has inflated the value of Maccs stupidly and can't consider compromising" "Actually ron is right, title sponsors are a thing of the past" "Um wut?" Ive met dudley and he's a nice bloke, but that argument was painful to read. The question was not "Does McLaren have a titke sponsor?" (Clearly not), nor "Does any team have a title sponsor?" (Yes unless you're being obtuse), nor "is McLaren poo poo and is ron overvaluing it?" (Yes and probably), but instead "What is so singularly important about title sponsors that we put them in a category of their own?" The worst thread.
