Hah, this might be a bit glib, but I think it's a sign of how amazing Bruce is that my first thought on seeing this was "finally someone's going to find a cure for cancer."

Somehow the demo versions back from when they were still called Amon sounded more potent. Deicide's debut isn't really Scott Burns' finest hour

Are any of Deicide's other albums worth listening to? I've heard some pretty mixed opinions. The only other album of their's I've heard was Scars of the Crucifix, which was poo poo.

Legion, Deicide, the Amon demos, and Serpents of the Light are about all you need.

The Stench of Redemption (their 2006 release) is even better than Deicide or Legion in my opinion. Most of the rest is forgettable.

Besides the standard Maiden-Priest-Leppard-Saxon, I'm assuming.

Grim Reaper, Tygers of Pan Tang, Praying Mantis, Angel Witch

Tysondog are one of the coolest later NWOBHM bands.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp6_BQeLGnI

Witchfynde are pretty cool but certainly not among the best, but worth a listen if you're interested in the style.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8WS8BQ1Oq0

Diamond Head and Raven are pretty big names, both certainly worth hearing if you don't know 'em. Cloven Hoof are also great but they came a bit later, the same year as Tysondog's debut but they seemed less definitively NWOBHM.

Yes.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Monument are pretty fantastic NWOBHM-y heavy metal.
I mean, they're new so they're not actually NWOBHM, but the music style is very much in that vein apart from the more modern, polished production.

I just got back from seeing Exodus.

gently caress they're awesome live. Souza is a great frontman and they were tight as hell. Gary wasn't there 'cos his Dad is terminally ill, so they had the guitarist from Heathen step in. He did a good job.

Max Cavalera came out and did a guest spot on Bonded By Blood.

It was loving metal.
