X3: Albion Prelude is the one you want to get. It's pretty much the definitive space sandbox game out there at the moment. If you want to do it, chances are good you can do it.

People like to say it's incredibly complex but it's only as complex as you want it to be. If you want to pilot a ship and go around shooting ships and being a pirate, knock yourself out. If you want to be a trader and set up an automated trade network, go ahead. If you want to be The Empire and crush entire civilizations with your mighty fleet, then you can do that too.

It was designed around keyboard and mouse, I believe, so it plays fine.

Speaking of X did they ever manage to make X rebirth slightly less of a trainwreck? I was really interested in that game having not played any X's before, but then it turned out to be horrible in almost every way. But I heard earlier X games were bad at launch too so I hoped a combination of patches and mods could at least make it decent at some point.

I just want to fly around space in first person while looking at pretty graphics.

It's not an absolute disaster any more, but the fundamental problem remains and will probably never go away: it's not really an X-series game. it's a poorly conceived mix of Arcade-Elite and X-Light. It made the mistake of trying to appeal to a slightly different audience and to introduce too many new game features, none of which worked together properly.

If you just want to fly around and look at pretty space, then yes, it does that well enough — perhaps even better than the competitors due to the compressed nature of the game. If you want the deep and complex gameplay of X³, then X³ is still your best option.

…well, unless you want to sell your soul and play EVE.

I think Half Minute Hero 2 might come with the original too? I'm not sure. That's just from what I remember when I got the game at Christmas time. But that was from the store, not a bundle.

Also what does "I My Girls" mean

If you're into shmups, Revolver 360 and RefleX are pretty great ones. The other ALLTYNEX games probably are as well.

Revolver 360 Re:Actor has a gimmick where you can turn the game world around on the horizontal axis, which affects bullet patterns allowing you to dodge seemingly undodgeable stuff.
RefleX is a pretty straightforward shmup at first glance but the shield mechanic that lets you reflect enemy bullets makes it really interesting. The music is also kick-rear end.

Kamui is pretty good, a regular-rear end SHMUP that does what it does nicely.

The whole Alltynex trilogy are good, non-bullet-hell shmups, and Revolver360 is a really pretty and very creative one.

Half-Minute Hero 2 is very good as well, so going the whole $10 on this pack seems like you're getting a nice bunch o' stuff.

It seems like most of the games they've been publishing since then have largely been shovelware garbage, so I'm more surprised that they translated and published a game as awesome as Gurumin.
