Artelind's Request![]() ![]() Expect to see this a lot. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Another Sonicker patrols this area. It should be noted that any tiles the FOEs step on and damage tiles are completely safe. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In retrospect, that one was kind of obvious. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm severely tempted to link to what I call pitfallhell.png, but I won't. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's the Sonicker's patrol path. ![]() It goes down easily. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So here's another Sonicker. Just follow it or pay attention to where it walks over. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That pitfall lead us to some treasure. Better than the last one at least. ![]() The other Sonicker's patrol path. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thankfully that was the last of the pitfalls. ![]() And we get a decent consumable out of that treasure chest we saw earlier. ![]() And we're done with this floor, aside from that section Ling needs to go through. ![]() ![]() Just a short little passageway here. We're completely done with the 8th floor now. ![]() At this point I realized I needed Nick for something. ![]() So I went back and- ![]() Today, we're going to observe the hunting habits of the explorer panda. ![]() The grass here looks to be well-trod. You can tell the path continues to the other side. You use your keen senses to determine whether the opening is large enough to fit through. You slobber happily, discovering that you can fit. The question now is, should you? ![]() ![]() The panda spots its prey. A creature, known as the Kilohorn. The two lock eyes, waiting for the other to make the first move. ![]() Kilohorn Type: Normal Behavior: Proximity Aggressive: Yes HP: 1635 AT: 54 DF: 55 Skills: Deathorn, Neigh Item Drops: -Common: Steel Horn - See Actaeon bio. -Rare: N/A -Conditional: Kilo Horn - Kill while head bound. 3 needed for Ill Wind (Bow.) --Complex horn resembling a many-branched tree. Description: Chief of the Actaeon family. Its enchanting horn is the last thing many will ever see. Weakness: Fire (125%) Resistance: N/A The Kilohorn is a powerful creature, considered to be a higher form of the Actaeon. As such, it shares the same attacks as they do. ![]() ![]() ![]() The panda is the one to initiate. Using tricks that it learned from living with humans, it uses a bell to put the Kilohorn to sleep, so that it can get the first strike. ![]() ![]() ![]() It uses the extra time it gained to apply a protective mist to itself. ![]() This dulls the effectiveness of the Kilohorn's attacks. ![]() ![]() ![]() The two creatures wrestle, biting and thrashing about in an attempt to subdue the other. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Look at that utter display of brutality! Pandas can be very dangerous creatures when provoked. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The panda is tired, being forced to use medicine to heal its wounds. ![]() Seeing this display of weakness, the Kilohorn believes it has won. And bellows at the panda to asert its dominance. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() However, the panda isn't cowed, and instead takes advantage of the Kilohorn's arrogance to strike the final blows. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And now- Well that was a bit of a tricky fight, but it's one I got through just fine. ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, now this will come in handy. The Vigor Belt is an upgrade from the Life Belt. Adds some extra defense, but more importantly, it can be used as Revenge fuel. Unfortunately these can't be bought until the 5th Stratum, but one will suit my purposes for now. ![]() And now the 9th floor is completely finished. There's nothing more for us here. Oh right, I was about to explore the rest of the secret areas. ![]() So here's another Sonicker. It patrols the lower part of this room. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1st Turn is a bit situational, but it's a godsend for slower party members, and slow parties in general. While this does eat up the Survivalist's turn, they're not really good for much in this game. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unlike EO1, which had the Dark Hunter dish out a weaker blow if an adjacent party member got hit, the Bait skills deal full damage no matter who gets attacked. Oh, and it can proc for AOEs as well. It's pretty powerful. ![]() ![]() ![]() The gimmick of this secret area is that there's a lot of doors. ![]() ![]() All but three of them don't lead anywhere. ![]() ![]() ![]() The doors to the far right don't take us further in, but we need to go here. There's treasure for one thing. ![]() Oh, and these two doors lead to the same place. But more importantly... ![]() This is where we can find Artelind. ![]() It is the lady you seek... She address your party, surprised to see you. ![]() You recoil slightly at her intense, hostile stare... You are unsure how to answer the question... ![]() The other two options don't do anything, and we'd have to talk to her again. The middle choice is the right one. ![]() ![]() Your words seem to have been the last thing the black-haired witch expected. ![]() She responds to you, a dubious tone in her voice. ![]() Artelind wears a mournful expression, continuing to speak while facing downward. ![]() ![]() Artelind looks at you, desperately awaiting a reply. What should you say...? ![]() ![]() Artelind's face lights up as she hears your response. ![]() Her tone softens as she expresses her gratitude for your kindness. ![]() She reaches into her bag and begins walking away from you. ![]() She walks away, vanishing from your sight. The quest is complete! Report your success to the bar when you return to Lagaard! So while we needed to go here to complete that quest, that wasn't the way forward. ![]() To get further into this secret area, you need to go through this door. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I should note that the attack textbox came up before the blindside notice. Also there was no monster appearance notice. The starting battle text seems to have a bunch of weird bugs that pop up from time to time. ![]() ![]() ![]() To the right, there's some treasure. ![]() But aside from that, we're completely done with this floor. ![]() This floor? This part of it is damage tile heaven. ![]() Now I say heaven because we finally reached that shortcut we couldn't access for a long time. Which is near the Geomagnetic Field. In fact, it's very easy to set up a Revenge Hexer since you can just send one to the 6th floor, and have them ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's the actual gimmick for this secret area, one way passages. Several of them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The other Kilohorn also dies pretty fast. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some mediocre treasures, but we broke even on that Tree Key. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unloading all my Force Skills onto this poor FOE, because why not? ![]() Can you say, overkill? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's the last of the locked doors. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And now we're completely done with the 10th floor, and all the locked doors in the game. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And we'll resume exploring the 4th Stratum in the next update. Equipment: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Araxxor fucked around with this message at 04:34 on Jul 31, 2015 |

Well, glad you liked that little nature documentary thing I did. I thought a regular commentary bit would have been boring, and pandas can't talk, so I had to get a little creative there. Gonna try to push out an update later today or tomorrow. And voting should take place sometime after that. Now I'm hoping this won't be a two parter, but it might have to be. I really need to cut down on the character dialogue. They take up way too much space in the updates. mycot posted:That fur boot description is weird. Light, what? I didn't even notice that one. Dragon![]() ![]() Starting off, here's the pitfall I said not to go down a few updates ago. ![]() Because it doesn't lead anywhere useful. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah this is one of the nastier encounters. Status ailments can make things go sour real fast. Binds, not so much. ![]() The vivacious colors on its wings are oddly alluring... If you reach out, you may be able to catch the butterfly. ![]() ![]() ![]() You frown and wonder if you could have more luck once it approaches you again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It would be an ignominious fate to lose one's life from being distracted by a butterfly. You stare quietly at the insect for some time before giving up and moving on. Saying yes twice results in falling into the pit. Never trust a butterfly. ![]() ![]() I start having Aliara relearn Torpor, since there's not much else I want her to learn. ![]() ![]() Megido still does a terrible amount of damage. ![]() Here's the other Take point on this floor. ![]() ![]() Fedot's regular attacks have a 13% chance to hit twice. ![]() You can brush away the web and save the butterfly, or simply leave it to its fate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The butterfly flits around your party as if in thanks, before it flies out of sight. ![]() ![]() You couldn't have guessed it, but the butterfly's scales have a mysterious healing power! ![]() You watch the butterfly go before returning to your exploration of the Labyrinth. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This pit takes you to a secret area. ![]() A secret area with treasure! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The exit sends us right back to the stairs. ![]() Now I got really tired of being forced to sneak around the Voltking, since you'd have to do a ton of waiting to get past it due to how the map is designed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, several things went wrong with that plan. ![]() ![]() I retooled Maverick's skillset so that he can heal people again. Combat Medic just wasn't working out. ![]() Back at that room from earlier, there's a Flygourd in the north room. ![]() It dies fast. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This pit leads to some more treasures. I have Gilbert equip the new helmet. ![]() The exit for this area leads back into the areas from earlier. ![]() There's a Shelltor in this part of the room. ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, its movement patterns tripped me up, so I ended up getting into a fight with it. ![]() Shelltor Type: Normal Behavior: Dance Aggressive: No HP: 1440 AT: 47 DF: 48 Skills: Defend, Jaws Item Drops: -Common: 100 Shell - 1 needed for Apollo Gun. 1 needed for the quest A diviner's tools. --Carapace of a hundred-year-old turtle. -Rare: Prehinite - See 4th Stratum Mine info. -Conditional: N/A Description: Those who would slay this giant turtle must contend with its hard shell and mighty jaws. Weakness: N/A Resistance: Physical (75%) There's not really much to this guy. Its pretty tanky, and Jaws is a powerful physical AOE. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And here's another Voltking. I don't mind being forced to dodge FOEs in the EO games, but I would at like it if you didn't have to go through so many hoops just to get past one every single time you're trying to explore the floor. Provide alternate paths or shortcuts so people don't have to do this more than once. ![]() At least you don't have to wait a long time just to slip past this one. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Things like that makes drawing good maps important, and I like that aspect of the series. Sometimes you're indirectly rewarded for keeping your maps up to date. ![]() Still trying to take down that earlier Voltking. I'm having a bit more luck this time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Though I didn't get through this battle unscathed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The other reason I wanted to kill the Voltking was to get its drop again. I need it for a quest. ![]() Now this pit is actually required to progress. ![]() ![]() Your mouth waters to think of the honey that must be stored within... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When you reach towards the bee's nest, you feel a sense of malice in the air... It's an ambush! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's the last set of stairs, but we're not done yet. ![]() The shortcut gives quick access to the stairs. ![]() And a nice little consumable. ![]() Now we're done with the 17th floor. Finally. That took a while. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One last Flygourd. ![]() ![]() And the last of the treasures on these floors. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Suddenly, an overpowering voice echoes from above! ![]() ![]() ![]() The winged one looks at you as if in judgement. ![]() The winged one's voice is firm, and he remains resolute in barring you from passing here. You think back to the phrase you learned at the Duke's Palace... Perhaps the winged one before you may relent if you speak it now. ![]() If you haven't visited the Duke's Palace and learned about the pact, you'd be forced to go back at this point. The winged one stares at you coldly as you stand before him, speechless. ![]() It seems that only the words of the ancient pact will sway him. ![]() ![]() You repeat the words the Duke's daughter taught to you before the winged one. I think this is the only time in the entire series that your guild gets shown speaking out loud. Their meaning remains murky, but the effect they have on the winged one is striking. He gazes at you with momentary surprise before spreading his wings and rising into the air. ![]() ![]() You no longer feel anyone else watching you... Their presences have vanished along with his. You are unsure whether to continue investigating or return to Lagaard for now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's a more direct shortcut to the exit. The one on the 17th floor was in case you didn't find out about the pact. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good news, that's the last death we'll see in this part of the Stratum. ![]() Because we're done with this floor! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's a better look at this area. Yep, you can see the sky on this floor. I personally think EO2 is the weakest entry of the main games, but the thing it does best without question are the aesthetics. The Strata in the other games just don't compare at all. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You need a Gunner to complete this quest. It doesn't matter how strong the Gunner is, you just need one in the party when you take on the monster. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This quest is another tile hunt, and one that can be messed up. It's actually really easy to complete, but getting the full reward is another matter. Although we were given a pretty big hint on how to complete it properly. ![]() Now this quest is of an ongoing quest line. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The 100 Shell actually makes a gun that's a downgrade for Fedot, so I don't buy it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm sure you've noticed by now, but EO2's NPCs pretty much heaps praise on your guild throughout the game. It's a pretty huge contrast with EO1's NPCs (Not EOU's, since they added a lot more dialogue there) who barely acknowledge your efforts at times. Anyways, let's get to completing that quest on the 18th floor. ![]() ![]() Now you recall the quest you accepted at the bar... You are to investigate the matter of the missing guards and report your findings. It sounds distinctly like a battle in progress, and you can hear human voices. Of course, they may be other explorers... It's up to you whether to investigate or not. ![]() So those three FOEs down there are our main objective. ![]() ![]() As you near its source, you see a group of guards fighting for their lives. A horde of monsters has fallen upon them! Unless you intervene, their chances are bleak. You may draw your weapons for a noble cause, or leave them to die and move onward. ![]() ![]() ![]() Illgaze Type: Normal Behavior: Patrol Aggressive: No HP: 864 AT: 31 DF: 31 Skills: Slash Item Drops: N/A Description: When their territory on 4F is threatened, they will swarm to attack the interloper. Weakness: Fire (125%) Resistance: N/A These guys are actually weaker version of Windsnips. They're just more tanky. I don't even know what 4F is referring to. The map location? But they're fought on F5-F6. ![]() ![]() ![]() Repeat 2 more times. ![]() ![]() You turn to see that the guards are about to deliver the final blow to their opponent. They sheathe their weapons and turn to greet their reinforcements. ![]() ![]() Once the guards calm down, you ask them what has happened there. ![]() ![]() The guard's face turns pale as he speaks, recalling the horror. What was this golden shadow...? You tend to the wounded and show them the way back before leaving the area. Your quest is complete! All you must do now is report your success to the bar. ![]() ![]() Gunpowder explosions and the screams of monsters permeate the floor's atmosphere. The din reminds you of the quest you accepted at the bar... You volunteered the use of your gunner to avenge the Ducal Bombardiers' leader. There isn't a clink of swords or the chant of a spell to be heard here... Only gunfire. Without a doubt, the monster that slayed the Bombardiers' leader is on this floor! The intense clamor begins to make you anxious, and you leave the area. ![]() Here's a look at this floor at day. I won't be doing that quest just yet. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now this quest is a little special. It pops up immediately after completing The golden shadow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Only a moment later you hear a distant howling... It's unlike the cry of a dog or wolf. The piercing sound is disorienting... You lose all sense of your surroundings. When the howling stops, your head clears, and you realize your surroundings have changed. ![]() ![]() ![]() The branches around you are wavy, almost as if you have been transported under water. You think back to the quest you accepted back at the bar... You were asked to save a guard who sent out a distress signal. The strange rift you just experience must be the work of some mysterious power. If you hope to proceed, you must take extra precautions. ![]() ![]() ![]() You seem to have taken a wrong turn somewhere... ![]() ![]() You seem to be at the floor's entrance... the stairs behind you lead to the floor below. If you hope to find the lost guard, you must try again and find the correct path! But if you believe this to be impossible, take these stairs and return to Lagaard in defeat. So this quest should be familiar to those that have played EO1. There was a quest there where you had to traverse the right path, or you'd be sent back to the beginning. This is the exact same thing. ![]() This is the path that you need to take. ![]() After some time, you see the silhouette of a seated figure. Perhaps it's the man you seek... ![]() The guard lets out a sigh, greatly relieved to see you. You ask if he is the one who sent out the distress signal and the guard responds. ![]() ![]() ![]() The guard's explanation over, he leans on his weapon to stand, and thanks you. The strange rift enveloping the area slowly stabilizes, as the terrain returns to normal. After confirming the guard's safely, you leave the area. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Huh. Sounds kind of familiar. Can't remember why. ![]() ![]() ![]() You have no inkling from whence it came, but it does not yet seem to have noticed you. Defeating it would bring glory, but this may be your only chance to escape with your life. You eye the dragon... It looks dangerous, and far beyond your capabilities... ![]() Pfft, a dragon? Whatever. I'm sure I can take it at this point. ![]() ![]() Oh gently caress. ![]() ![]() ![]() gently caress! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dragon is a recurring postgame boss. It's been in every game in the series, and is the main reason why you want the tank class to take the Antivolt skill. For the record, it has 12000 HP! It is FAR stronger than Salamox, so don't even think about fighting it. Araxxor fucked around with this message at 05:59 on Sep 4, 2015 |

She's changed that quote a couple of times, but yeah at this point, the guild has pretty much proven themselves to be very capable in the Labyrinth. What's the point of warning them now? They survived 18 floors of that place. Hivac posted:Also Voltage isn't even close to being the worst attack that Dragon uses. BLOW!!! The elemental breaths in general are really weak in this game. By the time you fight Dragon properly, Voltage does pathetic damage, like 400 or so? And a Volt Mist reduces that to pretty much nothing. Blow really sucks though. A Bash Mist could help with that, but then you'd have to deal with Corrupt which can absolutely lose the fight for you. I'm gonna try to get the writeup for floors 19-20 done, and I'll hold a vote then. Look forward to it, I know I will. ![]()

Sweet Revenge![]() ![]() It's time to unleash the broken, again! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes that's right, I'm gonna kill Dragon. A postgame boss that you're supposed to be at levels 60-70 in order to have a chance against it. Now if you leave the 3rd floor after Dragon spawns, it'll leave and you won't be able to fight it until later. In a normal playthrough, I wouldn't have considered doing fighting Dragon at this point, but EO has done things to me. I'm too far gone. Don't weep for me. Let's take a look at the team we'll be using. ![]() Aegis has one of the most important jobs, and that is keeping the team alive. ![]() Now unlike the Salamox fight, Nick has a much bigger job than using Dominate. He's gonna be one of our damage dealers for this fight. This why I bought the postgame whip for him. I also maxed out his strength. I need Nick to be doing a ton of damage in this fight. ![]() Gilbert has the most important job, and that's using his Force Skill. Not only will that provide our party with a damage increase, it has a side effect we can take advantage of. ![]() Fedot is probably the least important member in this fight, and we could probably beat Dragon without him. But hey, a guaranteed turn where Dragon can't do anything is nice. I also put the Haste Pin on him because Dragon has 90 AGI, and I want to make sure that Fedot is fast enough to pull off Riot Gun. ![]() Aliara's just gonna be nuking down Dragon with Revenge. Now if I wanted to be optimal, I would have her HP at exactly 500, but I don't really care that much. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Those of you that played EO1 may notice that Scatter About is playing here instead of the regular boss music. Yeah, in the rest of the games Scatter About plays in the Dragon fights. The first game was an exception to that. For those that are new to the series, Scatter About is the optional/postgame boss theme. I'm not really a big fan of the track myself. Although I loved EO3's version of it. I think the drums really add a lot to the song. I wasn't a big fan of EO4's version though. The first two games shared the exact same version of the song. Anyways, let's take a look at our enemy. ![]() Dragon HP: 12000 AT: 92 DF: 100 Skills: Voltage, Curse, Fury Item Drops: -Common: Volt Scale - Unlocks Dragonbane and Volt Orb. Limited stock. --Uniquely sharp scale of the magnificent Dragon. -Rare: N/A -Conditional: Amp Barbel - Kill with Volt. (100% drop chance) Unlocks Mobius Alb. Limited stock. --Taken from the mane of the thunderous Dragon. Description: This yellow dragon, master of lightning, has lived since time immemorial. Weakness: Fire Resistance: Volt (0%) Yikes, look at those stats. Dragon's moveset has also changed a bit since EO1. Unlike the first game, he'll cast his elemental breath on certain turns instead of at random. Usually on the first turn, and then every 5 turns after that, although that won't always be the case. He can also cast it after he uses a certain move, but I'll get to that later. ![]() Since Dragon always casts Voltage on the first turn, I had Aegis max out Antivolt for this fight. It'll buy us one turn. ![]() And Nick will be casting Magibait to compliment Antivolt. ![]() Gilbert won't cast Crusade just yet. I had him do that in an earlier take, and it backfired horribly on me. I'm sure some of you can figure out why. ![]() Unfortunately, Fedot's not really gonna do much in this fight. ![]() Aliara's Force Skill isn't gonna be a factor here. She's just gonna spam Revenge throughout the fight. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I know Gilbert isn't a damage dealer, but yech. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Even if the damage from attacks are blocked, counters will still activate, so Dark Hunters synergize well with Protectors. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Behold, the true power of the Dark Hunter! Nick just did a total of 1372 damage! This is without buffs, for the record. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And this is the problem with a max level Antivolt. It heals Aliara so she won't be able to deal damage with Revenge anymore. I could just leave it at level 8 so it would just nullify the damage, but Antivolt is much less reliable at that point, and I didn't want to play around with RNG for this fight. This is why I held off on casting Crusade. Otherwise Antivolt would've completely healed Aliara, and left her with no way to damage Dragon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah, Fedot's not really equipped for this fight. ![]() Aegis is gonna buy us another free turn. ![]() Dragon has a bunch of physical attacks it can use, so Bait is a relatively safe bet here. Although if it decides to use a buff, Nick won't do anything. ![]() Now I'm gonna have Gilbert cast Crusade. It should increase Nick's attack power, and raise the HP cap for Aliara. ![]() Fedot still won't do much. ![]() And the HP boost from Crusade will give Aliara enough extra HP to start nuking down Dragon again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is probably the best thing that could have happened this turn. Blow is a physical AOE that deals Bash damage, and has a chance to Terrify your party members. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And Nick just dealt a total of 2053 damage to Dragon! Yeah, when I said Dark Hunters were broken, I wasn't kidding. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is after the damage boost. Fedot really doesn't have much to do here. ![]() Now just in case things go wrong here, I'm gonna try to have Aegis Provoke Dragon's single target attacks. ![]() Nick is gonna set up a Dominate. ![]() Gilbert's job is done. ![]() Fedot's gonna help Nick set up a Dominate now. ![]() Aliara's just gonna do the same as always. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now that Dragon is all tied up, this is the perfect time to show off Ecstasy. ![]() Corrupt is a move that Dragon uses when your party has too many buffs. It'll dispel every single buff and will either Curse your party members, or instantly kill them. Also after using it, it'll use Voltage again. While Painless can protect against the Curse and instant death components, it can't protect the team from debuffs or dispels. But you know what can? ![]() Head binds! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ecstasy nukes a fully bound target for 750% damage! It's super easy to set up thanks to Dominate. But since Dominate didn't exist in the later games, they tried to rebalance those versions of the skill by making the damage scale with the amount of binds. EO4's version wasn't that good since it dispelled the binds on the target. EOU got rid of the bind dispelling aspect, and it ended up being a really good skill to use. It somehow avoided being hit with the nerf bat in the EO2 remake, and actually got buffed if you can believe it. A level 20 version of Ecstasy deals 2000% damage to a fully bound target. ![]() ![]() Chipping away at Dragon a bit more. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dragon will keep trying to cast Corrupt since our party has 15 buffs, but since his head is bound, he's effectively helpless. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, Ecstasy does a terrible amount of damage if the target isn't fully bound. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And Dragon goes down! ![]() ![]() ![]() I didn't get the conditional drop, but we'll have another opportunity to fight Dragon later. And since he's a postgame boss, he doesn't give out any exp. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Who could have foreseen this? It can only be the fruit of your daily training regimen! The dragon soars into the sky and disappears elsewhere in the Labyrinth. Exulting in your victory, you carefully stow your spoils of battle, and leave the area. ![]() And now our guild is filthy rich again. If you manage to kill Dragon, he'll drop 50,000en. See, unlike the mission with Salamox, which was mandatory, quests can be put off for later. So Atlus had this prepared in case this quest was taken on when a party would be strong enough to take down Dragon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cass does not have any alternate dialogue if you managed to kill Dragon. He doesn't give you an extra reward either, Dragon already gave you one. ![]() The Volt Scale sells for quite a lot, even though it's just Dragon's regular drop. Oh if only that were the case in EO1. Remember that Dragon is a postgame boss. As for what it unlocks... ![]() The Volt Orb provides 100% resistance against Volt attacks, but not too many enemies use elemental attacks. It's only useful if you're trying to fight Dragon again, and I'm not really sure immunity to an element is worth an accessory slot. Still, I gained 70,000en, so money isn't a problem for me again. So I'd say that was well worth it. ![]() Once again Atlus, fantastic game balance. Araxxor fucked around with this message at 04:39 on Aug 13, 2015 |

I never knew watching a dragon get its rear end handed to it in a video game could be so incredibly satisfying, and yet here we are.

Fan-loving-tastic. ![]() I planned to ask about this part after you beat Salamox, but didn't want to spoil the LP. I'm glad you went for it, stuff like this really shows off the good and bad of EOII.

See, this update perfectly demonstrates what I love about the EO series. You can hack your way through it, eventually, and sometimes it throws massive dick moves like Corrupt at you ![]() Well done. ![]()

I knew people would love this update. ![]() Rangpur posted:Fan-loving-tastic. Like I've said, I've been planning this one for a while. I even dropped a few hints about it in the updates. Such as me buying Nick's postgame whip for absolutely no reason, and Aegis having Antivolt. Though for a while, I was kind of wondering how I was gonna pull that off since Dragon was on a whole different level than Salamox. I did some calculations, and I thought it was impossible at first because I couldn't get Aliara's HP high enough to hit the cap. At best, it would've taken her 8 turns to kill Dragon, which flat out wasn't happening. I was gonna give up and put this quest off for later, but then as I did this LP, I stumbled upon a few things which made me change my plans. ![]() ![]() I completely forgot about these. Adding in Nick and the Vigor Belt made a huge difference. Not having that meant Aliara would've done 127 less damage per Revenge cast, which is pretty huge. For the record, I ended up doing a total of 12176 points of damage in that fight. So yeah, that extra 50 HP was pretty essential. If it weren't for that, it would've taken me at least an extra turn to kill Dragon, and 1 turn can be all it takes for everything to go wrong in an EO game. theshim posted:I have a friend who did a playthrough of EO2 killing every single FOE as they were encountered. This included Salamox. And I think without mapping, just for fun. Out of curiosity, did this include the Dragon fight in this quest? Araxxor fucked around with this message at 04:07 on Mar 2, 2015 |

So is this the postgame version of the boss, or did you really just steamroll one of these guys at 30-50 levels lower than you were expected to?

The fights aren't any different if that's what you're asking. The Dragon fight here is exactly the same as the Dragon fight in the postgame, when you're actually expected to fight him. I forgot to mention it in the update when I first posted (but edited in later), but Dragon actually despawns when you leave the 3rd floor. So really, this is just an early opportunity to fight Dragon if you really wanted to.

Seriously Fetus, I see why you shouldn't unleash the most broken poo poo you can when you get back to the actual dungeon crawling. I don't think anyone will bitch if you just cart around SUPER Nick and REVENGE Aliara around for the rest of the game.

He wouldn't even need REVENGE Aliara. Plus if he wanted to go all out he could make Fedot even stronger, but that would make the game way too easy.

Minor Notes: Floors 19 and 20 Now this is when the Stratum actually gets nasty. Tons of status effects will get thrown around a lot. I'm talking stuff like high damage poison, sleep, petrification, and instant death. Oh, and the enemies can still hit pretty hard too. There's no more class specific shortcuts in the game, we're completely done with those. Also, a ton of FOEs are gonna bar our way. They can be avoided, but to do that involves exploring the floor at specific times, which can get really tedious. It's just much less of a hassle to kill them than trying to avoid them. They're not too strong at any rate, but they can inflict petrification. There's also a lot of bird enemies in this part of the Stratum, which means that physical attackers who can use bows or guns will shine.
