Fun fact, I was browsing the wii shop Chanel to grab Mario RPG and saw they put the DKC games back on the shop.

I haven't seen this pointed out, but for those who don't know or didn't realise, you can upgrade your Wii VC purchases to Wii U for $1.50 or whatever and it'll make you eligible for the DKC Tropical Freeze/DKCR3D sales prices.

A word on OlliOlli: the launch discount is temporary but the cross-buy offer is permanent. If you want cross-buy to work you need to make sure you have your NNID linked to bot your Wii U and 3DS before making the purchase.

Proun+ is a well-reviewed sorta-racer for iOS/PC; it looks like a good fit for 3D, so let's hope they did a decent job with the port.

Flying Dragon and Kung-Fu Heroes are games by an obscure Japanese studio called Culture Brain - these games were not on the Wii VC and have never been re-released, as far as I can tell, but I can't imagine anyone was really hanging out for them.

All right, I'm having the urge to play Mario 3. I don't think I have played it in actual hardware since 1994 and emulation elsewhere mostly uses American roms, so I need to now the following: the 3DS Euro VC version of Mario 3 is 50 or 60Hz?

If I'm not mistaken 3DS Euro VC games are 60Hz while the Wii U and Wii ones are 50Hz. The few 3DS VC games I've bought (The 6 Mega Man games and Super Contra) are definetly 60Hz.

Why does everyone think I'm going to get in trouble?

On a similar note, does Majora's Mask run at 50 Hz on PAL Wiis and does that actually affect anything, since the game runs at 20 fps anyway?

It seems to vary from game to game. I know for example that Wii U's Link to the Past is 50Hz, but there's been some games that have been 60Hz like Punch Out.

Anyone bought Mario 3 on the 3DS (and maybe the Wii U while we are at it)?

No Wii VC game was over 50Hz, AFAIK. They only start changing that recently with the Wii U and (hopefully) 3DS. If anything, Majora Mask would run 18% slower on top of being 20 fps. The wonders of being an Euro gamer.

This confirms the WiiU version as the 60hz US version.

This implies both systems are using the US version as well, but I don't have a primary source for that one.

Would Shantae and the pirate's curse be better to get on 3DS, or Wii U? I have Risky's Revenge on 3DS, so I'm leaning that way to complete the set, but if it's vastly better on Wii U I don't have a problem doing that.

Also, that Shovel Knight update is... a lot more than I was expecting. A lot more! I thought it was just going to be "throw Plague Knight, etc. skin in Shovel Knight and play through the game again," not a whole new story mode with new mechanics and all that! Wowzers...

If I recall the last week or two had the creator saying he was in the process of changing the meme faces (which are copyrighted) and he already changed the sniper rifle image. I'd guess the hammer was being dropped on him within the past month but he didn't see anything wrong with what he was doing and only tried to change the graphics at the last minute.

Unlike a patent that you have to apply for, copyright occurs automatically. Whoever drew that troll-face thing, they immediately had a copyright on it. If I wrote a grocery list that somehow became a meme because it was weird and someone posted it on the internet, I would have a copyright on that grocery list and a claim to all profits made from it.

Edit: So basically, anyone who created any meme that was used in that game immediately had a case to file a lawsuit against them because the guy who made the game was profiting off of their work without licensing what they made.

Edit2: They also have a case against Nintendo since Nintendo is also profiting off of their work.
