How can that guy not have a laundry list of carryover points and extra loadings? Any citing at all should be 3 weeks minimum for him.

Must be a slow news week in the NRL, they keep mis-reporting the Knights/Cowboys game

mentioning that Jeremy Smith got away with a knee to Thurston's face when it was accidental contact and a "lifting" tackle that looked awkward but not dangerous, the media are going overboard and saying they are using "thug tactics"

the only thing I saw in that game that was slightly thuggish was Scott smacking him late after the ball was passed and someone grabbing Gagai's nuts

The knee was nothing but the deliberate targetted late shots and the completely unneccessary lifting tackle on an already held Thurston were blatant. Scott is a thug.

As someone else who just moved to Queensland (albeit from Sydney), I can scientifically say that your choices boil down to:

a) Broncos - the sycophantic love for the team is cloying and they're on TV every Friday night so I guess you'll get to see them a lot. They play pretty poorly atm, though, so don't get your hopes up.
b) Cowboys - they're massive chokers and underperformers who really could do OK this year so long as the murder attempts made by the rest of the league on their poor, innocent Thurston don't succeed. The only downside is you support a team from bumfuck nowhere, although you did say you're moving to Central Queensland so that seems a safe choice.
c) Titans - if you hate yourself and want to watch a lot of 40-0 losses then this is the one to pick. They're all either on cocaine (allegedly) or 15 years old, and whilst they have some talent they're very likely to be absolute trash all year. On the upside, memberships are cheap (I'm a top level member even though I hate the club and don't support them) and they at least have better uniforms than the other two (sky blue = best blue).
d) Tigers/Warriors - you still hate yourself and are prepared to watch a lot of losses or insane play, but at least you'll be in a better frame of mind since a good chunk of posters in this thread also go for them so we have a mutual support group / suicide pact going.

ps. go for the Tigers, we're the best at causing me to have alcoholic episodes from depression

They stream everything on livestream internationally: http://new.livestream.com/nrl so you can watch a bunch of games before you move here if you like, although probably at some unbearable early hour.

I don't know enough about NFL to make helpful comparisons but both the Cowboys and the Broncos are well-established teams and you'll meet plenty of fans of both all across Queensland. You'll also find plenty of supporters of the southern clubs across Queensland as well I guess, the only real time the Queensland/NSW divide is clear is during the state of origin series (basically the best rugby league gets for an Australian).

Following the Broncos is convenient though since they have a lot of Friday night games
