All these videos lack the proper outreach needed to win a modern campaign. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fd-MVU4vtU English Translation: To the candidate who is Barack Obama I sing this corrido with all my soul He was born humble without pretension He began in the streets of Chicago Working to achieve a vision To protect the working people And bring us all together in this great nation Viva Obama! Viva Obama! Families united and safe and even with a health care plan Viva Obama! Viva Obama! A candidate fighting for our nation It doesn't matter if you're from San Antonio It doesn't matter if you're from Corpus Christi From Dallas, from the Valley, from Houston or from El Paso What matters is that we vote for Obama Because his struggle is also our struggle, and today we urgently need a change Let's unite with our great friend Viva Obama! Viva Obama! Families united and safe and even with a health care plan Viva Obama! Viva Obama! A candidate fighting for our nation

I'm gonna vote republican just to see Hillary crushed in the dust. Because it's better to lose now due to ideology than it's to keep the party alive and getting more capitalist over the following years. And frankly Hillary is the ultimate candidate who is progressive only in the policy areas that are completely irrelevant, and is a complete puppet of the capitalist interests in key issues.

Just kidding, I'm not gonna vote because I'm not American, but there are enough retarder Americans to vote Hillary in my stead.

Rand hates references but he does have a coherent campaign plan that works, as I predicted about three months ago. Not trying to toot my horn or anything. And yeah he is a long shot for the actual presidency but yeah it does all check out & everything.

Can anyone explain Bernie's article from the 70s? The first column is as gently caress but I honestly can't figure out whatever point he's trying to make.

From what I can tell, the thesis seems to be that patriarchal gender roles are hosed up, and it's good that we are getting away from them, but at the same time it's really difficult to figure out what the hell to do without them, which leads to confusion and disharmony. Also, I think the stuff about rape fantasies is less something that he's, like, advocating, and more pointing to as evidence of a problem with social mores. It's definitely super weirdly written and hippy-ish.

Also, I think the stuff about rape fantasies is less something that he's, like, advocating, and more pointing to as evidence of a problem with social mores. Yeah, that's more or less what I could make of it as well. Unfortunately it's also a case study for the lovely prose that passed as serious sociology in the 70s. But as poor as the writing is, he's making some valid observations that are still true over 40 years later - both abuse porn and Fifty Shades of Grey-esque fiction are multi billion dollar industries. A good case can be made that they're born out of the frustrations of having to come to terms with redefining gender roles. I don't think he's saying everyone has these fantasies, but when people do, they're often part of the fallout of the sexual revolution - and unless we want to alienate people we love, we need to talk to them instead of keeping stuff bottled up inside until it gets weird and deviant to the point where communication becomes impossible. loving scandalous

AsInHowe posted:Which presidential candidate authored an article on rape fantasies that started with the following? I'll take the bait. I was born early 1973. I'm not saying my age makes me wiser than younger people, but he wrote that poo poo in 1972. I think he has probably grown and matured a lot since that time. He also hasn't had a consistent message that reinforces or supports that writing. When he says it was satire, I believe him. Is that because I'm politically motivated since I like him? Possibly, but he hasn't been putting that message out there again and again to raise money or entice people to his cause. That isn't his message, it was a loving stupid article that he should be ashamed of. I mean loving christ, if we find out he had a newsletter that contained an unending stream of woman shaming, maybe we can have a conversation about Bernie being a douche bag.
