That's a better answer to Ottavia than most fast characters can boast. There's no reason for you to ante before you see my number, so I should probably just ante first every beat. Ottavia has a whole bunch of minimum ranges too, so I can't just ram up in Welsie's face every beat like I did as Thessala. It's a way better matchup for showing off Welsie's stuff, for sure. First ante is traditionally a coinflip, which... *fwup* *smack* Ottavia "wins" and goes first. Also Welsie's ante is face down so Ottavia can change her ante in response to Welsie's I guess but she's working with no more information than before.

Yeah, I already submitted my ante with my attack pair, since seeing Welsie's ante tells me nothing. Welsie's UA is weird; it's much weaker against an opponent that doesn't ante, and it's also really feast-or-famine, since Welsie can only recur successful attacks. Last time I played Welsie never got to use it, but I suspect Tollymain will find more opportunities.

Welsie's ability to choose her attack pair at ante also means that I can control her choice of pair with my choice of priority value. I can pick a priority number on a pair in Welsie's discard, let Tollymain lock in his choice, then switch to a different number to hit whatever I think is his actual pair, and Tolly can only call my bluff by choosing a pair that he knows will be ruined by my UA. I didn't expect him to expect me to jump to that level of I know you know on beat 1 though, and it seemed like it would probably only work once, so I was thinking I could spring that trick on him later in the match. Instead I got to see him box a shadow and get punched in the face by a cyborg.
